Chapter 130: Chapter 129:A celestial..
I finally cracked my eyes open, trying to get some excitement flowing through my bones after hearing Valen’s announcement, no dice, the encounter with that demon seemed to not only have put me in a very nasty mood, but it seemed to have also taken away all the excitement I had about joining Aeternum, atleast for today..
So, instead I decided to just watch others crack at it.
Yet, strangely, it wasn’t the rush hour I was expecting.
I’d expected for candidates to start throwing challenges left and right, especially with the conditions of being able to consistently challenge a single elite class candidate, yet no one seemed to be in any particular hurry..
The cliche I was sure was going to happen, the one about stuck up young masters feeling too good to be placed below others, didn’t happen, it seemed either most were content with just getting in, or like Valen had said, they didn’t believe the instructors of the academy would’ve chosen wrongly.
"Heh... nonsense" I scoffed at the thought..
Yes, the elite class felt powerful, hell, they felt more powerful than anyone had any right to be, at least more than I’d felt so far from any of my peers, but I didn’t think for one second that I’d lose to any of them..
Not with my particular skill sets.
I’d have loved to test out just how strong I’d become physically, since I hadn’t really had the chance to go all out with my new stats, the demon having been nothing more than a warm up, but like I said, no motivation whatsoever..
"Hehehe.. I must say, this is the first time I’ve seen you not excited about beating people up " Cara’s soft voice reached my ears as her hands found mine around her waist..
"I guess I’m not just feeling it today.." I replied softly, burying my face in her hair, taking a deep breath..
"Alright, so long as you’re fine, D" she sounded worried..
"Don’t worry, I’ll be okay once I get some rest.."
...
"Ohhh... seems like someone is finally going to fight" her voice drew my attention, my face rising from her hair as I trained my gaze towards where most were looking, I shouldn’t have since my body almost seized up once again..
There, walking with all the pride and swagger in the world, was a creature with red skin the color of blood, it’s eyes were nothing but a swirling pool of crimson, with four blood red horns that rose from its temples, but what told it apart was the nasty stench of corrupted mana that clung to it like a disease..
"A demon..." I growled, my murderous intent suddenly rising, until..
"D.... Don’t" Cara’s voice stopped me..
"Hoooo... thanks.." I whispered softly..
"Fufufu.. don’t worry, you’ll have enough chances to make them suffer, just wait till this farce is over, I’ll help you however you want.." her voice had gone cold as I felt her own killing intent..
"Ahhh... I’m blessed aren’t I?"
I didn’t answer, merely settled comfortably as I watched the demon approach the arena that had risen at the center of the platform..
"My name is Kerieth Morg Thrax, son of Zeriah Morg Thrax, HIGH ZENITHAR OF THE BLOOD DOMAIN!!"....
"Woah!!"
"He’s from there?"
"How’s a demon noble from the blood domain not part of the elite class?"
"Just how freakish is this years collection of candidates?"..
The reactions from the crowd(outer court students mostly) told me that this filthy thing must’ve been quite the hotshot, or atleast his background was.
I could’ve sworn I’d heard that form of introduction somewhere before, but after drawing multiple blanks, I shrugged it away..
The filthy creature seemed satisfied with the crowd’s reaction, a smug look appearing on its red skinned face, my mind wondering what it’d feel like to rip it off..
"Uriah, I don’t think I need to say much more, do I? Get your pidgeon winged ass down here and collect your well deserved beat down" the filthy creature smirked as he directed his gaze towards one of the elites..
My eyebrows rose slightly at the person being challenged, I really should’ve taken the time to take in my surroundings when I’d arrived earlier, because, tell me how I missed the presence of a blonde haired youth with two pairs of golden-white feathered wings folded behind his back..
His eyes were closed, but the moment he heard the demon’s words, they opened slowly, revealing a pair of eyes with pupils the shape of justice scales...
"Kerieth, as expected, all this was merely a ploy at an attempt to embarrass me" the young man’s face bore no expression, his indifferent gaze settling on the demon..
It seems they had some history together, not that I cared, my eyes were firmly on those wings..
"I want one.." I couldn’t help muttering..
"Want me to pluck them out for you? I’m sure they’d suit you better" Cara’s words reached my ears, drawing a smile from me..
"Nahh, I’m not sure I can transplant them that way, but don’t worry, I’ll find a way" a manic smile finally graced my face, my mood getting lifted slowly as thoughts on how I was going to get myself some wings ran through my head...
"So what if it was a ploy, don’t tell me you’re scared of facing me" the filthy demon’s taunting words almost ruined my mood once more, I couldn’t help looking at the two participants, suddenly rooting for the winged fellow, someone who should probably be one of those celestials aunt v talked about..
"The day I become scared of facing filth from the demon world, is the day I lose my status as an heir to the light!" The blond haired youth finally moved, his wings spreading out with a golden luster..
I blinked, and he was already on the stage..
"Fast..." I was surprised, it was the first time I’d seen someone be that fast, when it wasn’t me..
"OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
The cheers ripped through the air..
The excitement was palpable..
It seemed the two were already quite the names before even getting into the academy, as I could see even the instructors and supervisors leaning forward, eyes focused on the clash about to ensue..
"Listen here you filthy creature" the blonde youth began, a spear of light manifesting in his outstretched hand..
"I am Uriah LightTorched, son of the Seraph, Malachi LightTorched, Heir to the supreme light" saying this, he pointed his spear at the demon, "where you stand, you shall forfeit all that you are to my blade"..
Man, the sanctimonious speech was making me want to puke.
"Just get on with it goddamn it, what’s with all this posturing nonsense?" I was about to step in and smack this guy stupid, he was wasting my time..
"Heh, cut the bullshit, you stupid pidgeon.." for once, I found myself agreeing with a filthy demon, just the thought made me want to puke my guts out..
"DIEEEEEE!!!!!!"
It seemed that set the blonde celestial off, as he launched himself at the filthy demon..
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA...
The creature laughed as they collided in a deafening explosion, their clash finally began as my eyes stayed trained to it all..
It was time to finally witnessed the prowess of the central continent’s geniuses that my aunt and Leo couldn’t seem to keep quiet about...
