Closing the doors behind Anna, Wuxing walked around and entered from the other side, sitting beside Dongi which even further increased Anna annoyance. She didn't show it on her face but the fire in her heart was already burning strong.
She didn't realise Wuxing had such strong feelings for Dongi else she would act earlier. Wuxing was her only chance to avoid having multiple n to achieve evolution so she couldn't give up this easily.
Dongi was friendly so Anna definitely wanted to beco her friend and start from that.
"Dongi, can I call you by your na?" She asked with a smile as she watched Dongi's head cuddling into his neck. Both Anna and Katherine sat down across them so it was hard to avoid this view.
Dongi pulled away from Wuxing, only wrapping her fingers with his own and replied as her corners lifted in a similar manner.
"Of course. Chaleon's friends are my friends as well. You can call how you wish~" Her speech had a really positive vibe to it, sounding like not Dongi at all. Naturally, she only behaved like that in front of Wuxing.
"Mhmm, thank you. I wonder, how did you two et? You must have known each other for months already, right?" Anna asked with a bright light in her eyes, expecting an interesting answer.
Even though Dongi didn't mind the question, treating it as a training for the real questioning in front of her grandparents, Wuxing wasn't really satisfied.
He gazed at Anna with a look saying, 'Didn't I already tell you about it?' Unfortunately, Anna didn't even glance at him, focusing on Dongi instead.
"I don't want to talk about the details but the mont I t Chaleon, I knew that he was special. I'm a doctor so I took care of him when he was injured and I gave in to his advances. His smooth-talking abilities were too good." Dongi described vaguely, deciding not to say too much stuff that was connecting Chaleon with Wuxing.
Anna knew Dongi would try to deflect the answers onto Wuxing but that didn't stop her from continuing.
"Mhmm, Chaleon did ntion sothing about it but don't you think its too early to marry? You guys didn't know each other for long after all."
The longer Anna stalled their marriage, the more chances they would have together. She knew she had ti during the selection but it would definitely be harder later on.
Dongi snickered at that question and turn to Wuxing, peeking straight into his eyes.
"Well, you would have to ask Chaleon about it. He was the one who proposed to ," Dongi muttered, still beaming with ecstasy after that mont.
This put Anna off guard but she still waited for Wuxing to reply if he wants. Him proposing to soone else on the sa day he agreed to have dinner with her was a hard blow to take.
Surprisingly, Wuxing didn't hide from answering and instead caught Dongi's face, caressing her cheek while aiming it so she would look at him before confessing how he felt.
"I'm always cautious about any relationships I start as I need to fully trust soone before I reveal my true self. With Dongi it was different. I felt like I can trust her from the mont I t her and each day we were separated from each other, I couldn't help but think about her. If she is not the one for , I don't know who is."
At the end of his speech, Dongi was already out of breath, realising her lungs stopped working in anticipation for his words, wanting to fully focus on them.
"Hu… How could I say no to him, tell ?" Dongi asked after taking a deep breath and leaned over, leaving a peck on Wuxing's lips.
'Yeah… I also wouldn't…' Anna thought in her mind, not brave enough to speak it out. As long as Dongi didn't know about her feelings for Wuxing, she was in the advantage.
Wuxing knew that such conversation will lead to nothing so he let go of Dongi and finally focused on so more relevant subjects.
"Okay, how about we talk about sothing more important now? The selection? It starts tomorrow. Do you have any details?" He directed his question to Katherine who has been silent the whole ti.
Scarlet was listening attentively, trying to fight back the sleep as the information were crucial to her future.
"We still have no actual details as we will receive them on the spot but I can tell you the selection this year will be special. I don't know if other ability users were involved in that decision but I can already tell that the course was not made for normal humans." Katherine described as she opened the more detailed information that she asked for that morning.
"Huh? Really?" Wuxing asked curiously, excited to know the new updates.
"I think they are trying to gather most ability users who will take part in the future event. Now that all Spirits have their own host, most of them would naturally flock to Seven Stars." Katherine continued before adding, "I guess the higher-ups must also have so ability users."
"Can I see what you have?" Wuxing glanced at the data on her small projector, wanting to see it.
Katherine didn't have problems with that and didn't show any emotions when she replied.
"Sure. Do you want to sit on your lap or you will sit on mine?" There was no space to sit anywhere next to her as there were only five seats at the back of the limousine and she didn't mind being shaless.
"It's okay, I will lean over." It wasn't a problem for Wuxing as he rubbed Dongi's palm to assure her and walked up to Katherine.
He supported himself on the arms of the seat and looked down at her watch. The fresh sll coming from her body made him unconsciously move a little bit closer to her but she ignored it and simply presented the date she had.
"I only have the general information about the area they will use and the staff that will take part in the selection. Look." She pointed at the list of nas. "All higher-ups are involved in this selection in one way or another. This is not normal."
He shifted to the side to see the nas better and just as he expected, he didn't know most of them. There was only one that caught his attention.
"General Long as well? Hahahaha!" He imdiately busted out laughing when he noticed this familiar na.
"Yes." Katherine nodded, knowing his circumstances. "Aside from him, there are many others too. I think that they want to use this selection to create a team for the upcoming event. They might know more than we do."
Katherine's suspicion was really believable, after all, they were doing exactly the sa.
'Devil Face, do you know anything about this?' Wuxing asked in his mind but just as he expected, there was no reply.
"Is your—" He wanted to ask Katherine about her situation but she answered before he finished. "Yes. She has been away from ti to ti. I don't mind though. She has been working hard for all those years."
"I guess you are right," Wuxing muttered as he began pulling out, wanting to return to his seat when the driver hit on breaks right when he let go of any support.
With how things worked, Wuxing didn't stand a chance against physics and was imdiately rag-dolled forward, straight at her.
"I apologize. Soone cut off." They heard the driver through the intercom but his words couldn't explain their position.
One of Wuxing's knees were bumped against the back of Katherine seat while his legs were bent on both sides of her head, holding him from away from her face with just a few centitres separating them.
"I guess you really wanted to sit on my lap in the end, huh?" Katerine asked calmly as she touched her lips, not moving even a bit from her original position.
"Are you guys, okay?" Dongi asked with worry in her eyes and Wuxing finally pulled away from Katherine, sitting back next to Dongi. "I'm fine. I shouldn't have been standing as the car was driving."
"Mhmm, good." Dongi breathed out relieved and looked casually to the side. "Huh, Scarlet, what happened?"
She noticed that Scarlet was tilting her head to the side. They forgot there was one person in the car that still didn't know anything.
Scarlet caught Dongi's hand and asked pitifully, "Uhmm… Can I maybe know what you guys are talking about? What ability users? What Spirits? What hosts? Why it's always who doesn't know anything…"
"Awwww, poor Scarlet." Dongi found her really cute and hugged her like an elder sister. "I will join you in listening as I'm still little clueless myself. I think we still have so ti before we arrive."
Wuxing wanted to say sothing but Anna spoke first, giggling to herself.
"Alright, let this big sister explain, hehe."
