"What! How is this possible, my Lord?" Teneb asked again. He was unsure whether to believe his Lord’s words or not. Was his lord rely playing a joke on him?

"It’s true. I can’t tell you the details, but you will see it yourself in the future. Now, let’s leave this place, or we will regret ever laying our hands on him."

The thought of the Demon Lord finding out made him shudder.

Vyrion looked at the injured figure of Cassian and could only hope he would recover before the Demon Lord discovered him.

So ti ago, while inside the city of Galdreth, Vyrion had suddenly sensed an aura similar to his own. At first, he couldn’t believe it.

Because that person had died centuries ago, back when his demon lord had gone into slumber.

So why was he sensing the sa familiar presence?

Could it be that he had been reborn, or had he never died at all? But the latter seed impossible, as humans had limited lifespans, unlike demons, who could live for hundreds of years. The more powerful demons could live even longer.

It seed he truly had been reborn. What a coincidence that he was born at the exact ti his Lord awakened from slumber. Or was it the exact opposite—that he was reborn, and that was why his Lord awakened?

Whatever the case, destiny truly knew how to play its gas. If it were in his control, he would never have allowed this man to be born again.

He didn’t want to see his Lord going through that pain again, all because of a re human.

A shallow smile tugged at his lips as he looked at Cassian. He could only hope history didn’t repeat itself. If it did, he would do anything to ensure this human disappeared from the world, never to be reborn again. Vyrion thought this with a hard look.

Cassian was just about to pierce the monster’s head, but suddenly, the monster vanished from its place.

Cassian lost his balance due to the sudden disappearance and fell to the ground with a thud.

"What the hell? Where did it go?" Cassian shouted in frustration as he landed.

His bleeding forehead wasn’t helping him. The blood was flowing down his eyebrows, making his vision blur with red.

Cassian looked in every direction, but the monster was nowhere to be found. He suddenly realized the demon was also gone.

Had they left? But why? Their fight wasn’t over. And why would they leave without killing him? Cassian murmured aloud, "Is this so kind of trick? Am I walking into a trap?"

Cassian’s thoughts wandered in every direction. After waiting and checking every hiding place, he couldn’t find them. Even their presence had completely vanished, as if they had never been there.

But looking at his condition and that of his companions, he had to believe it wasn’t a dream.

Cassian walked unsteadily toward his companions. A long gash ran across his right thigh.

He knelt down beside Keren and said softly, "Keren, are you alright? Wake up." But Keren didn’t budge. He was unconscious and heavily injured.

Cassian then stood and began checking on the others. Their conditions were similar to Keren’s—or worse. All of them were unconscious and badly hurt.

Cassian’s vision blurred from the heavy loss of blood, and soon his mind began to spin. He could no longer keep his consciousness intact.

His body scread in pain. He too wanted to succumb to the darkness. With each passing mont, his control over his body weakened.

He was relieved that all his companions were alive but worried about what might happen if soone attacked them now.

Then all of them would surely be finished.

"No, I can’t lose consciousness. I have to keep my eyes open," Cassian gritted through his teeth. All his companions relied on him. He had to protect them.

With this thought, Cassian muttered the sa line again and again in his mind, like a mantra, so he wouldn’t lose consciousness.

"I can’t lose consciousness..."

"I can’t lose consciousness..."

Cassian’s breathing grew labored with each passing second. Blood continued flowing from his wounds, staining the ground beneath him crimson. A shaky breath escaped his lips.

"Tsk... tsk... really touching," Teneb muttered, yawning. A tear appeared in his eye as he felt like sleeping.

But first, he had work to do. This lad was not making it easy for him.

"Snap."

Losing interest, Teneb snapped his fingers, and Cassian imdiately fell unconscious.

Teneb walked out from his hiding place, his aura flaring to life. He looked down at Cassian’s unconscious figure and muttered,

"What will you do when you realize that, while it was so hard for you to open your eyes to save your companions, the very sa person you are watching out for can make you unconscious with just a snap of their fingers?" Teneb said with a chuckle.

He felt a twinge of guilt for toying with him after being warned, but who would know what he had done? He snorted.

A little pity crept into his eyes as he looked at Cassian’s injured figure. There weren’t many people this loyal and worried about their companions.

To him, humans were the worst creatures to ever exist. They loved to talk about how demons were cruel and violent, but it was humans who had no loyalty or honor.

Demons, no matter how ruthless they were, knew how to respect themselves and their own kind. A demon would never betray its kin, nor allow anyone to insult their family.

But humans? They would do anything for power and wealth. They would turn on their own, sell their principles for money, and even join forces with their enemies to bring down their own people if it ant they could gain sothing.

This endless greed and hypocrisy made Teneb hate them. It was a hatred that had grown stronger over the centuries as he saw humans act in ways that made him sick. Every ti he witnessed their betrayal, it only made his belief clearer.

Humans weren’t weak just because they were fragile; it was because their souls were rotting from the inside. That, more than anything, was why Teneb hated them.
