Chapter 4668: Leaf of the Primal Chaos Spirit Tree
The Fate Sovereign personally escorted Lin Moyu as he left, because he was also about to rge his own physical body. Only after the fusion was complete would the Fate Sovereign reach his full form. By then, his strength would surely surpass a Sovereign’s; even if he could not match Calamity Sovereign, he would not fall far behind. With the combined strength of himself and the Ancient Desolation Bull, their chances of surviving the Great Calamity rose imnsely.
As for what they would do next, Lin Moyu didn’t ask and had no desire to know. Throughout his conversation with the Fate Sovereign, Lin Moyu could faintly sense the latter’s hope for the future.
Sitting atop Little Peng, streaking through the void as a golden flash, Lin Moyu asked casually, "He says he just wants to survive do you believe him?"
Neither Chaos Child nor Little Peng replied, since the previous conversation far exceeded their scope; they couldn’t judge.
The Chaos Gem said, "He hasn’t spoken honestly."
Lin Moyu smiled, "Naturally. Back then he withheld things from Calamity Sovereign, so of course he wouldn’t reveal everything to ."
The Chaos Gem said, "He likely harbors ambitions of reaching the Supre level."
Lin Moyu lowered his voice, "It’s human nature. He claims he only seeks survival, but the best way to do that is to beco Supre. He said the Great Calamity muddled fate, making divination impossible, but I only half believe it. Divining may be difficult, but not truly impossible; I’m sure he’s seen so opportunities. In fact, killing is the best way for him to stride toward the Supre, but he’s not confident, so he doesn’t dare. Maybe he’s waiting for a chance, or for so favorable turn."
Lin Moyu’s gaze grew profound. From the previous talk with the Fate Sovereign, he could deduce several points. He did not understand the Dao of Fate and could not divine the future, but he could judge human nature.
The Fate Sovereign spoke cautiously, but still revealed so clues he had ntioned in passing that there were many passages in this world, all connected to other realms, which were essentially ruins. If he had opportunities, they would be hidden in the remnants of those worlds. Perhaps, from them, he could take another step forward at the least, achieving strength to rival the Calamity Sovereign’s avatar. If that happened, together with the Ancient Desolation Bull, they would have two sources of strength for the battle over the Supre rank.
The Chaos Gem said, "No matter what tricks he plays, as long as Master’s strength is enough, nothing matters. The Supres I have seen made it by their own power, never by scheming."
Lin Moyu smiled it was true. As long as one’s strength is sufficient, any conspiracy would shatter under a single blow.
Little Peng manipulated the Concealing Spirit Pearl, its strange aura hiding both itself and Lin Moyu.
Seated atop its back, Lin Moyu began to examine the gains from his journey: two copies of the Primordial Technique, a rare treasure, and a Sky Shattering Crystal.
He first examined the rare treasure a single leaf.
This leaf shone with a purple glow, like jade or erald, incredibly beautiful. The veins were exquisite, seemingly naturally ford, faintly containing mysterious truths.
Even with his sharp vision, Lin Moyu could not comprehend the secrets hidden within the leaf. But that didn’t matter a cultivator’s basic approach when facing the unknown was: refine it!
Letting his Soul Fla burn through the leaf, Lin Moyu’s soul was suddenly alard as a wave of malice erupted from inside, rushing at his soul.
Lin Moyu’s reflex was to think perhaps Azure Dragon’s remnant soul lurked within and sought to take him over. But a mont later, he discovered this malice did not co from Azure Dragon, but from the leaf itself.
"Get back!"
He called low, and his soul realm buzzed. The Primordial Qi wrapped around it provided powerful defenses, holding back the malice.
The malice turned into a sharp arrow outside his soul world, spinning wildly as it tried to pierce the Primordial Qi. Its strength was so great that it forced a hole through, and the soul world’s barrier could not stop it.
At that mont, the Soul Gem on the Calamity Staff glead, instantly condensing a yellow vortex to plug the gap.
The Soul Gem, as if seeing a supre delicacy, devoured the malice completely.
"What was that?" Lin Moyu sighed in relief. If not for the Soul Gem, he did not know how things might have ended.
The Chaos Gem said: "If I’m not mistaken, it was a Filth Spirit."
Lin Moyu wondered, "Explain in detail."
The Chaos Gem replied: "Everything has yin and yang, reality and illusion not only the world, but even Forbidden Zones of Life and the world’s walls follow this. A Forbidden Zone represents death; a world wall represents life, but even within a world wall there is also the seed of destruction. That bit of destructive property becos a Filth Spirit. A Filth Spirit is not a concrete entity, but a trace of will, a wisp of sentience.
It sotis attaches to primordial treasures, entering one world after another. Those primordial items after being bathed in Primordial Qi beco very powerful, but also very dangerous.
"They gain intelligence and a desire to kill, often causing catastrophic slaughter in the world a second round of calamity, a tribulation of all living things."
"But not every world that gets such primordial items will manifest a Filth Spirit, only about a third, by my count."
"Normally a Filth Spirit would rarely enter a treasure like this, but here there was a wisp."
"But with us here, there’s nothing for Master to fear."
Lin Moyu asked, "If I didn’t have you around, what would have happened?"
The Chaos Gem answered, "The Filth Spirit would taint your soul, making it no longer pure leading you to crave slaughter. In ti, Master would beco soone who abandons all ties, and might even massacre entire worlds. Such things have happened. Even Supres fear Filth Spirits."
Suddenly, the voice rose, "Now I understand why Azure Dragon never rged it into the world! With a Filth Spirit inside, rging it could have tainted his soul.
Normally, the best approach is to abandon the item, but Azure Dragon was clearly unwilling, so he used the world core to suppress the Filth Spirit, while drawing on the rare treasure to extend the world’s lifespan. Not a bad trick."
Lin Moyu said, "That’s only a temporary fix. I’d rather have the Soul Gem devour it."
The Chaos Gem: "Right for the little Soul, it’s the ultimate delicacy. Little Soul loves such pure consciousness."
After the Filth Spirit was gone, Lin Moyu resud refining the leaf.
Soon, the leaf began to glow, a soul brand belonging solely to Lin Moyu left within it.
Streams of information ca from the leaf, and Lin Moyu realized Azure Dragon had never fully refined it because of the Filth Spirit, he could only use its very surface strength and never its core.
Lin Moyu finally learned its na: "Leaf of the Primal Chaos Spirit Tree."
