This batch of investigators totals twenty people, each of whom is disenchanted with the real world and has suicidal tendencies.
Among them are both n and won, with company executives and street thugs.
So are burdened with significant debt, seeking an end to their troubles, while others are simply overwheld by life’s pressures, lacking the ability to cope.
The most unique investigator, nad Chucha, is haunted by a peculiar monster.
This monster is invisible and intangible but might appear around Chucha at any mont, throwing tomatoes at him.
Chucha is so distressed he feels on the brink of a suicidal breakdown.
For Chucha, becoming an investigator was great because the tomato-throwing monster didn’t follow him here, allowing him to escape it.
Within the ti silhouette, there isn’t just the history of the real world; there are images from other worlds, potentially containing knowledge that drives world developnt.
...
Zheng Xuan opened his eyes, finding himself standing on a grassland where the leaves of the grass were semi-circular in red and green, as if he were in a virtual world.
The air here was unusually fresh, making him feel slightly light-headed, even imagining he could leap several ters.
Zheng Xuan looked around and noticed a bizarrely styled city in the south. After so thought, he decided to head towards it.
He actually didn’t have any intention of becoming an investigator; he just wanted to escape the real world, so this place was highly alluring to him.
As he reached the entrance, Zheng Xuan found himself surrounded by a group of strange beings with slightly red skin.
These creatures were male and female and strikingly beautiful compared to humans, with two gradient-colored antennae on their foreheads.
"Who are you, and why have you co to Douxuan City?"
The leader, a woman in a red dress, questioned Zheng Xuan anxiously.
Currently, the ones most tense weren’t Zheng Xuan but rather the nurous natives.
In their eyes, Zheng Xuan was a monster, donned in peculiar attire, with strange hair, jaundiced skin, and lacking antennae.
The visual impact was akin to Xia Mansion’s Land villagers suddenly encountering a blue-black-skinned, noseless bald head...
"You ask why I’m here, but I can’t tell you either, because I myself..."
Zheng Xuan paused, realizing he could understand the natives’ language; it was the Federation Common Language!
He quickly anded his statent: "I co from another world, hoping to receive amicable treatnt here."
Upon hearing of another world, the area fell silent.
This place is called the Yaranda Continent, and every Yaranda person knows they aren’t alone, for the stars above host countless powerful and terrifying races.
A thousand years ago, Yaranda and other dreaming civilizations believed they were the only beings in the universe.
Later, monsters continuously descended from the void, bringing enormous calamities to this world.
After experiencing doomsday-like scenarios, Yaranda people saw the starry sky changed, and since then, fewer bloodthirsty monsters have descended.
It’s said that the Yaranda empire’s leaders have established contact with civilizations beyond the stars, integrating into those monster cultures.
Although Yaranda people must annually offer large tributes to the alien civilizations, at least they can live peacefully, hence they treat every extraterrestrial visitor with caution.
"Welco to Yaranda, esteed visitor from the stars." The woman in the red dress bowed to Zheng Xuan, preparing to lead him into the city.
Seeing their respectful gaze, Zheng Xuan felt relieved; at least he passed this imdiate challenge.
But after taking just a few steps, a commotion erupted, and a dozen knights riding boar-like creatures wielding wolf fang club-like weapons charged at the group of more than twenty people outside the city.
The woman’s face changed: "Barbarians have arrived, prepare for battle!"
Those boar-like animals moved swiftly, with the distance to the city gates too far, escaping was not an option.
Other Yaranda people followed orders, their forehead antennae shaking quickly, with expressions resembling bowel movents.
A semi-transparent energy erged from them, forming peculiar monsters with claws and fangs.
Zheng Xuan, frightened by these monsters, retreated two steps, and the woman in the red dress glanced at him contemptuously.
Yaranda has seen powerful extraterrestrial visitors; for this man to be scared by their Fighting Spirit, he must not be from a strong race.
These Fighting Spirit beasts appeared mighty yet seed like paper-tigers, quickly torn apart by the boar-riding barbarians.
All twenty-so Fighting Spirits killed only two barbarians before being completely destroyed.
Zheng Xuan looked puzzled; these barbarians didn’t appear very agile, yet they easily defeated those strange creatures.
With no Fighting Spirit obstruction, the barbarians charged at the twenty-so Yaranda people, slaughtering them.
Fully ard Yaranda people were easily crushed and torn apart by barbarians.
A barbarian targeted Zheng Xuan, excited by the killing spree, ignoring Zheng Xuan’s peculiar appearance, and charged at him with his wolf fang club.
Zheng Xuan was intimidated by the barbarians, closed his eyes, and waited for death.
He originally sought death, dying at the hands of these barbarians wasn’t unacceptable.
But his eyes were closed for less than two seconds before they suddenly opened; he rolled to the side, dodging the barbarian’s attack.
In those two seconds, he realized he didn’t want to die; he wanted to live.
During the evasion, Zheng Xuan noticed he jumped further than expected, as the barbarian’s movents weren’t particularly sharp or agile.
He quickly drew his Jie-01 pistol and fired at the barbarian, the bullet shattering the barbarian’s head, the explosion shocking everyone on the battlefield.
Other barbarians showed terrified expressions, confused as to why their companion’s head suddenly exploded.
Zheng Xuan licked his lips and fired three more shots at other barbarians, hitting only two, yet completely scaring the barbarians who dispersed, urging their boars to flee rapidly.
Watching the retreating barbarians, Zheng Xuan’s heart raced as he turned to look at this exotic city, feeling much better.
The world is vast, with many things he hasn’t seen, and many experiences he hasn’t had; he still has debts unpaid, he can’t just die.
It’s only at the brink of death that so thoughts beco clear. Zheng Xuan never wanted to die recklessly again.
He wants to use his investigator work to improve himself so he can pay back those who were hurt.
This investigator job ans rebirth for Zheng Xuan!
