In the western suburbs of Pinghu City, there is a large shantytown, where the city’s poor reside.
The houses here are large courtyards, divided into small rooms. The largest rooms are no more than thirty square ters, while the smallest are only about ten square ters.
In a cramped and dirty courtyard cluttered with wood and junk, there is a tiny rented room.
The curtains of the rented room are drawn, and the person living here never leaves, except to use the toilet.
Yes, in the shantytown there are only public toilets.
Zheng Xuan, with a cigarette between his fingers and red eyes, is staring at the computer screen, scanning through information about supernatural events.
Hanging behind him is a hemp rope; three days ago, he attempted to hang himself with it but lost the courage at the last mont, leading to even greater self-loathing.
Zheng Xuan was originally a wealthy young master in Pinghu City, living extravagantly, never working for a living, and spending his days with models at clubs.
But the good tis didn’t last long. One day a few months ago, his father’s company was shut down by a group of fierce n in black, and all his family’s assets were frozen and confiscated.
His father was captured by the n in black and supposedly executed the next day, while his mother couldn’t withstand the blow and jumped from a rooftop.
The n in black left only ten thousand yuan in Zheng Xuan’s hands and never bothered about him again.
Fueled by anger towards these n in black, Zheng Xuan began investigating the truth behind this upheaval, wanting to find soone to take revenge for his parents.
Upon starting his investigation, Zheng Xuan discovered he had an incredible talent for it, being extrely sensitive to various pieces of information and details.
However, after the investigation began, he wished he didn’t have such a talent.
As the truth slowly unraveled, reality was too harsh for Zheng Xuan.
The reason for his father’s company’s rise was because they were serving an organization called the ’Abyss Eye.’
Zheng Xuan couldn’t uncover details about this organization, as greater forces seed to block his efforts.
Even with what little information he managed to find, Zheng Xuan felt a chill run down his spine.
Blood sacrifices, brutal killings, and even kidnapping holess people to feed those monsters!
This discovery broke Zheng Xuan completely; he abandoned any thoughts of revenge and instead hid in a rented room, contemplating how he would die.
He searched for supernatural information in hopes of finding so extrely dangerous supernatural events for regular people.
Since his father hard so many people by using Supernatural Powers, he chose to die by the Supernatural Powers himself.
While browsing, Zheng Xuan suddenly noticed a pop-up on his computer.
"Do you want to know the truth of the world? Do you want to truly live?"
Zheng Xuan was stunned for two seconds and turned off the page: "I don’t want to live; I want to die."
But the next second, a large hand reached out from the computer screen and pulled him into it.
...
"Hello, welco to the Wisdom Kingdom."
A cold, emotionless female voice was heard. Upon hearing it, Zheng Xuan sat up suddenly, wide-eyed, looking around.
What awakened Zheng Xuan was a woman with perfect features and figure, wearing a black dress, expressionless. Zheng Xuan noticed sothing off about her at first glance.
"Artificial? Surgery from the Sakura District?"
The woman helped Zheng Xuan stand up, and he realized he was in a strange plaza.
In the plaza were twenty won in black and twenty people like him, either lying or standing, with the occasional semi-transparent figure passing by.
While being helped up, Zheng Xuan bumped into the woman and imdiately changed his expression.
"She’s not human!"
"Machine or monster?"
These won were puppets that Wen Wen urged Xu Hai to create for the ’Wisdom Kingdom’ plan to act as gophers; thus, they were sowhat rough, but Zheng Xuan’s quick discernnt of the woman’s falseness was proof of his talent.
Standing on a high platform at the side of the plaza, Wen Wen tightened his collar and glanced at his script.
He was dressed in a lavish robe of gold and white, with a bizarre mask on his face, an outfit prepared specifically for the Investigators.
Seeing everyone below awaken, Wen Wen lightly coughed twice and stepped to the front of the stage.
"Good afternoon, everyone. This is the ’Wisdom Kingdom.’
Soone wanted to ask, to question why Wen Wen brought them here, but was silenced by a nearby woman in black. There was no chance for them to speak in this performance.
Seeing this, Zheng Xuan closed his mouth, swallowing all his questions.
"Do you see the Bronze Door over there? It houses the ultimate secret of the world. I need you to go through it and find what I desire."
"I am the king of the Wisdom Kingdom, and you are the Investigators of the Wisdom Kingdom."
"As long as you find sothing valuable, I will reward you equally. In the real world, you were the disenchanted; here, you will start anew."
"A new beginning..."
An obscure light flashed in Zheng Xuan’s eyes but was quickly concealed by himself.
He dared not hope for rebirth, only to cleanse his family of its stained sins.
"But dying here is better than dying in a rented room. I hope to see sothing different before I die."
After Wen Wen finished speaking, he allowed the Investigators below to ask questions to the won in black.
After a commotion, each woman in black handed the investigator beside them a box, which contained the equipnt Wen Wen gave them.
It included a set of black hooded casual wear, gloves, shoes, a pistol, and a dagger.
The clothing was made from a special material, with strength comparable to bulletproof vests.
The pistol was a Jie-01, the dagger a Yu-01, both products of the Monster Factory, with much greater power than normal weapons and effective at killing Supernatural Creatures.
These were only the most basic initial models, considered standard equipnt for ordinary Foundation mbers, while high-ranking mbers were now equipped with Model 03 weapons.
Additionally, Wen Wen provided each person with a wristwatch, constructed with Yuriano’s authority. By pressing the button on it, one could detach from the ti silhouette.
The primary task for Investigators was not combat but rather gathering knowledge from the ti silhouette while ensuring their safety, so this equipnt was already sufficient.
After the clothing was distributed, everyone changed into their clothes and was sent by the won in black into the Bronze Door.
Each investigator’s entry point was different; no one knew what kind of bizarre world they had entered.
Once all the Investigators had vanished, Wen Wen pulled up a small stool and sat at the entrance of the Bronze Door, focusing his consciousness on the Investigators.
Through their perspective, Wen Wen’s consciousness road within the ti silhouette.
