Chen Yingjun pulled a long face: "Brother Fei, I’m already your man, I’ll do whatever you ask, can I put off the debt for now?"
Yan Fei chuckled: "Sure! From now on, you’ll work for for free. When you’ve paid off your debt you’ll be free. Adding up everything, it’s more than ten million, right?"
Xu Xiaoyan and the other won watching the ga laughed to no end. With Yan Fei’s card playing skills, he didn’t need to do anything else; he could just tour casinos around the world and probably make more money than from raising cattle.
They spent several days on the ranch. Originally, Yan Fei suggested taking a trip around the area. However, The Fifth Young Master Guo insisted on guarding the ranch instead. This resulted in more card gas and after a few days, the debts had mounted so high that they could only use their bodies to settle them.
Fortunately, it was all in fun and nobody planned to take it seriously. Only a fool would play cards with Yan Fei if it were serious. With three people playing cards, he was an unstoppable strategist, treating it as ntal exercise that made the other two clench their teeth in frustration, yet they couldn’t win much.
These days, everyone was idle during the day, but at night, Yan Fei would circle the sky. Unfortunately, due to the recent increase in dia pressure, those who were planning sothing have been too scared to act.
News had just broken that an employee of the bindweed company was kidnapped by unknown individuals at a tavern. Initially, it was only reported in local dia. But soon, various dia began to cover it, and in recent days, people had even been waiting at the ranch entrance, hoping for an interview.
Luckily, Scarface Boss had beco experintal material, or he would have been torn between continuing to cover Iron Head or sacrificing him. Fortunately, he no longer had to worry about these things, whether or not he felt fortunate himself is unknown.
...
That evening, Xu Xiaoyan lay on her bed, absent-mindedly flipping through a book, occasionally glancing out the window.
Nothing was visible outside, but she knew Yan Fei was patrolling in the sky. This was the umpteenth ti Boss Yan had flown these past few days, each flight adding to the pleasant disbelief in his heart.
It couldn’t be helped. This situation, knowing soone intended harm but unable to find the enemy, while needing to stay vigilant, was genuinely vexing.
Yan Fei sullenly looked at the starry sky, unable to resist climbing higher into the sky.
Having seen the sa scenery so many tis, he no longer felt anything. Flying higher conserved energy, where he could transform into a Pterosaur, spread his wings, and almost float lazily in the air.
All around on the ground it was pitch black. In the area where the ranch was located, even passing cars were rare.
After lingering in the air for a while, Yan Fei was about to descend. It was quite boring with soone waiting on a bed inside; who would enjoy drifting in the wind in the middle of the night...
Just as he was about to descend, he spotted four firefly-like lights in the distance.
It was far away, only a sliver of light could be seen. If he wasn’t careful, he would miss it. From high in the sky, Yan Fei was very experienced with seeing lights, and it was still far from his ranch, probably just folks traveling late.
Just as he prepared to descend, he had a sudden flash of thought to go take a look.
Though far, for Xiaohei the crow’s speed, was anything within sight considered far?
Sotis people are just like this, hence the term ’by divine intervention.’ At a certain mont, an impulse might just arise, or simply out of instinct, one is moved to act without a thought.
Having flown over, Xiaohei landed right atop the front car.
The first was a seven-seater Japanese SUV, and the second a pickup, also Japanese-made. Very common cars since Japanese cars have always been among the top-sellers in Australia and are seen everywhere.
No one inside the car spoke, and Xiaohei patiently stayed put.
As the vehicle trended closer to the ranch, he decided to wait, hoping for developnts!
"White Head, we’re almost there." A crackling sound emanated from inside the car, followed by a voice. "Proceed as planned; later, park your vehicle by the roadside, and we’ll drive one car over."
"Received." After a brief reply from the back, the car fell silent again.
Yan Fei felt a bit helpless. The six in the car didn’t seem up to any good. Yet from those two simple sentences, he couldn’t deduce much.
After a while, soone finally spoke: "Laoda, this task is surprisingly easy! You don’t have to be so solemn, do you? It’s just going to the ranch to take sothing. If worse cos to worst, we can just force our way in. I can’t believe a ranch’s security force could stop our Vulture Squad!"
"Shut up!" the earlier voice commanded. "Hui Ou, have you forgotten our principle? Never take any task lightly. What’s more, on this mission, others have already attempted and failed, alerting the target. They say there was brief combat, and those on the ranch may not be simple. Last ti we were careless and failed. Had we co directly before, we’d have completed the mission by now."
"Got it, Laoda." Hui Ou answered honestly, refraining from saying anything about having a larger team this ti.
Yan Fei was now certain they were targeting his ranch. Not only that, but he also identified the mastermind behind the previous attempt.
Finally caught them!
Relief washed over Yan Fei, fearing they wouldn’t show at all, but now that they ca, it was just as well!
Still, he needed to confirm finally. Anyway, he had ti since the ranch was still a distance away!
The two cars traveled swiftly and stopped about ten kiloters from the ranch in a small grove. The group got out of the cars, drove them into the brush, and pulled several large bags out of the pickup bed, covering them with branches to slightly obscure the pickup.
Then they began changing cars and outfits right there among the trees, ditching their ordinary clothes for gear from the bags.
Seeing their transford appearance at a glance, Yan Fei almost prepared to send them to keep the dinosaurs company.
Seriously, this was too brazen!
Other than the color of their outfits differing from what he’d see soldiers wear on the news, everything else was quite similar. Such a team, fully ard, intended to infiltrate his otherwise peaceful country’s ranch?
After changing cars, the group piled into the big seven-seater and continued driving.
Indeed, they were heading for the ranch.
Seeing them drive closer with lights off to advance stealthily, Yan Fei couldn’t help but comnd their professionalism.
This bunch looked more elite than his own laborers, quite the pros.
Upon reaching the ranch’s edge, they stopped, with the leader instructing: "White Head, Hui Ou, get down and damage the fence so we can drive through here."
They apparently planned to wreck the fence and drive straight in.
Now Yan Fei wasn’t pleased.
The ranch was huge, and even from this entry point, there were still over twenty kiloters to the Fattening Farm. Obviously, they didn’t plan on going in on foot. But precisely because the ranch was so big, Yan Fei didn’t want them damaging the fence.
Even though the fence was a simple wooden structure, the expansiveness made surrounding it costly. Although Yan Fei wasn’t concerned about the expense, it was inconvenient.
It was truly inconvenient. The cowboys always circled, transporting wood and tools to inspect an entire turn, a day-long task.
This was assuming no damage; otherwise repairing it would take several more days.
All the posts were wooden, breaking them was easy but fixing them was a half-day task—not to ntion finding the place took ti.
Since he already confird they were coming for the ranch, there was no need to be polite!
As the two in the car opened their doors to step out, the next mont they both exclaid in unison: "Where is this? Where’s the ranch?"
Not only had the ranch vanished, but so had the damn road; it had a new environnt.
This place seed more desolate than where there were fields everywhere. At least, there was a road and that haphazard fence indicating human activity.
Now, nothing remained!
