The reason Carlotta could guarantee her own safety wasn't simply due to her imnse strength.
The Weird grow stronger when facing stronger opponents, but this scaling was based on rank. Carlotta, although rely a middle tier Weaver, possessed combat power close to that of an Exalted. Thus, she could resist The Weird.
For instance, take a Weird that makes one feel as if carrying an entire mountain on their back. For ordinary people, they'd be crushed under an invisible weight, unable to move, eventually dying from the pressure.
But Carlotta was different. She walked forward bearing The Weird. Even with countless The Weird clinging to her, she remained unhard. If this were known to those familiar with the Forbidden Sea, their jaws would drop in disbelief.
"Are you really okay?"
Alia asked with concern.
She clearly saw layer upon layer of The Weird swirling around Carlotta, it looked terrifying.
Yet she didn't understand why she herself felt nothing.
Carlotta shook her head, "I'm fine. The threat posed by The Weird is tied to rank. You understand, my actual combat strength far exceeds my rank, so I can withstand it completely."
Alia understood this principle too, but seeing so many The Weird circling Carlotta made it impossible to ignore.
Worried, she seriously asked Carlotta, "Do you know why The Weird don't target ?"
All along, Carlotta's behavior had seed prophetic to her, always strangely aware of things others didn't know.
So she thought Carlotta might know the reason.
Upon hearing this, Carlotta scratched her head, "Neither you nor the High Priestess have any issues. Maybe... maybe your ancestors ca from another world? Perhaps you carry blood from another world?"
Although stating sothing certain, she phrased it as if guessing, thus explaining the matter.
After hearing this, Alia couldn't help but show an astonished expression.
Her ancestors from another world?
Even though Carlotta spoke with a speculative tone, Alia knew this wasn't re speculation, Carlotta must have discovered sothing through so ans.
Alia never expected her origins to be like this.
She thought for a mont and said, "So anyone from another world won't be targeted by The Weird. But why is that?"
"Who knows? Maybe the Weird fear strangers."
Carlotta shrugged.
In any case, she reassured Alia not to worry about her situation, then continued exploring the city with her, searching for useful traces.
They entered a temple and saw many traces left behind by believers of the Path of Faith during their cultivation, gradually deepening their understanding of the Path of Faith.
After circling around, Carlotta returned to the starting point.
"Just an ordinary city, no value. Maybe we need to head to those important cities of the forr Central Continent to find anything worthwhile."
Carlotta sighed.
In the past, many had explored the Forbidden Sea, but none could venture deep before retreating.
After all, even reaching here, Carlotta already bore countless The Weird. While she could endure them, how far could others endure?
Thus, the depths of the Forbidden Sea remain shrouded in mystery for most.
Carlotta planned to wait for the High Priestess to finish exploring and return, then proceed together to search for important cities.
But then, she and Alia waited for several hours straight, yet the High Priestess never appeared.
"Where is she?"
Carlotta felt surprised, even using so magical ans to project her voice far away, calling out for the High Priestess. Yet strangely, no matter how she shouted, the High Priestess didn't return.
What happened to her?
Carlotta and Alia exchanged bewildered glances, montarily at a loss. Given the High Priestess's abilities, she shouldn't have encountered danger, right?
But if no danger occurred, why did she disappear?
Carlotta had no way to locate her and could only continue waiting, until another dawn arrived.
On her Intelligence Panel, new information began to appear.
[ 1: The sinking of the Central Continent is related to Gods. The core reason lies in the forr Supre Divine City of the Central Continent, there lies the answer to everything. The location of the Supre Divine City is shown on the attached map.]
This intelligence didn't surprise Carlotta. Indeed, only by heading to the most valuable cities could discoveries be made.
Carlotta glanced at the map. The Supre Divine City was still quite a distance from her current location, reaching it might take several days.
[ 2: The birth of Weird stems from the countless lives of the forr Central Continent. When life's sensations chaotically blend without rules or order, countless inexplicable The Weird may be born. The many beings of the Central Continent once died with hatred towards the world, thus, The Weird attack every purely native individual.]
What defines a "purely native individual"?
Those carrying blood from lifeforms of another world wouldn't count as purely native?
Thinking of the situations of the High Priestess and Alia, Carlotta found this seed the only explanation, confirming her previous judgnt.
But it ant she alone had to bear all The Weird.
[ 3: There are three thods to resolve The Weird. First: leave the area where The Weird exist, rendering them rootless and adrift, eventually they'll dissolve. Second: eliminate The Weird through absolute strength. Third: beco one with The Weird.]
Carlotta left with a giant question mark.
She understood the first two thods, but what did the third an?
Beco one with The Weird? How?
'Do I have to transform into a Weird myself? But clearly, that's impossible!'
Carlotta pondered, confused.
The Weird weren't even truly living beings, how could a person beco one of them?
Or perhaps, there was another way to beco "one of them"?
But intelligence didn't explain how to achieve it.
Carlotta revised again at the first two thods. The first was common knowledge, people entering the Forbidden Sea in the past had to escape from it to survive, thereby shedding The Weird.
As for the second, eliminating The Weird through absolute strength, no one in history was known to have accomplished this, hence the legend that The Weird were indestructible.
In fact, Carlotta and the High Priestess had already tested this before, indeed, they found no way to destroy The Weird.
"With Exalted strength, we still can't eliminate The Weird. Could only a God accomplish this? Then this second thod is useless too."
Carlotta couldn't help but feel speechless.
She sighed and continued reading the next piece of intelligence.
This intelligence was actually connected to the High Priestess's disappearance!
[ 4: High Priestess Bova, through resonance with the city's statues, opened a channel of faith and entered a residual alternate dinsion left behind from the ancient Central Continent. The entrance to this dinsion has collapsed. With her abilities, she can hold it open and search for a second exit, but this may take so ti.]
Carlotta was speechless.
She never expected the High Priestess would accidentally beco trapped inside an alternate dinsion and couldn't return imdiately.
No wonder there had been sudden silence.
But since the intelligence report stated the High Priestess wasn't in danger, she surely wouldn't encounter any real harm.
That was all for today's intelligence.
Since the High Priestess wouldn't return in the short term, Carlotta didn't intend to wait.
She took out her Rose cross and carved words into the ground, indicating she had waited for a long ti without seeing the High Priestess, and thus was moving ahead to one of the forr Central Continent's major cities. She asked the High Priestess, upon exiting, to co find her.
"Not waiting for her?"
Alia asked.
"No. Let's go."
Carlotta shook her head.
Now that the High Priestess wasn't by her side, she still had enough confidence to handle various troubles. Her previous battle against Aldrich, an Exalted, had already nurtured sufficient confidence within her.
Right away, she and Alia quickly cut through the ocean.
Along the way, increasing numbers of Weird cling to her. Carlotta ignored them completely. Let the Weird co as they may, she could endure them all.
One underwater city after another appears before Carlotta's eyes. These cities carry an exotic architectural style. One could imagine how splendid and breathtakingly beautiful they once were in the past. But now, they were overgrown with weeds and covered in rust.
Carlotta didn't linger in these cities. She continued forward with unwavering determination.
Alia could tell Carlotta had discovered sothing again. She didn't ask further. By now, she was used to simply following Carlotta wherever she went.
Their way of interacting was always simple. Alia scarcely asserted her own opinions or made decisions. She just followed Carlotta's lead, and that was enough.
She willingly handed over initiative to Carlotta. As long as she followed closely, everything would be fine.
The two quickly traversed the ocean. In the blink of an eye, several more days passed.
The intelligence during these days beca increasingly strange. Many events were only ntioned because they sohow involved Carlotta, earning them a line in the report.
For example, Farrel Kingdom underwent massive upheaval. Because the Shepard family had once offended Carlotta, the kingdom's people feared she would return to settle the score. After all, the current Carlotta was not sothing anyone could withstand. Farrel Kingdom naturally feared her.
As a result, the entire Shepard family was wiped out. Even the factions behind those Resonator Generals who had fought Carlotta at Swan Harbor began to vanish from public sight.
Eventually, a statue even appeared at Swan Harbor, Carlotta's statue. It would stand there, worshiped by millions of people.
Similar statues appear across the Northern Continent, and even on the Bass Archipelago.
When Carlotta saw such reports, she felt sowhat embarrassed. Why did they start building statues of her?
The intelligence also ntioned that certain kingdoms had begun including Carlotta in their textbooks, making her a key subject in education.
"Tsk, without realizing it, I've made it into textbooks."
Many other intelligence reports ca from all over the world, revealing global attitudes toward Carlotta.
It was also reported that the Elven Hotown had lifted its seals. The elves learned Carlotta had cultivated Elven Knight Path, not as her primary path, yet she had sohow reached an incredibly powerful level. They strongly wished to invite Carlotta to the Elven Hotown for discussions.
Additionally, the Vampires had made public statents. It was said the Vampire race' strongest, the Scarlet Queen, publicly addressed the incident involving Carlotta and the Vampire race' second strongest, Elisa Griffin, declaring it a misunderstanding, one that was not irreconcilable.
Regarding this matter, the Vampires strongest acted with extre politeness. She showed no intention of confronting Carlotta to the death, and instead seed eager to reconcile.
Clearly, this was all a consequence of Carlotta's pursuit and killing of Aldrich.
She had slain an Exalted. Who wouldn't be afraid? That was an Exalted, among the absolute peaks of the entire world. And yet, they were gone. No one could ignore this event, not even other Exalted.
Carlotta had been exploring various places and hadn't properly learned about world affairs. Hearing these reports now, she couldn't help but feel emotional.
"The continent is peaceful. It seems no one wishes to stand as my opponent anymore. But... I still can't let my guard down."
Carlotta deeply understood that enemies still exist, elusive, invisible, yet real.
She continued eastward, diving deeper into the ocean than anyone had ever gone before.
Countless Weird entities clung to Carlotta, too nurous to count.
Alia could no longer approach Carlotta. She could only follow from a distance, watching with worry as endless Weird enveloped her.
"I'm in so much pain, I'm in so much pain."
One Weird stared at Carlotta, its entire body bleeding. Carlotta instantly felt pain across her own body, as if she herself were injured.
Another Weird had no visible form, only endlessly weeping, making Carlotta restless and nearly causing her to cry as well.
There was also a puppet-like Weird, jumping ahead. Suddenly, it turned its head. If Carlotta didn't stop moving at that mont, her body would imdiately show signs of petrification. Although she could barely resist this transformation, after trying several tis, she decided it was better to simply freeze temporarily when the puppet turned, no need to waste energy. After all, the puppet will turn back quickly.
Another Weird held a knife, continuously cutting its own body. Each piece cut will grow, only to be cut again. Beyond the visual horror, Carlotta also felt the pain of being sliced. Even though it was only a sensation, it was extrely uncomfortable.
Such complexities and weirdness were countless, surrounding Carlotta. She seed like the source of all Weird phenona.
No one in history had ever carried so many Weird while advancing. Carlotta was the first ever.
"No matter how many Weird appear, they won't stop from reaching the City of the Supre God. Hmm, ahead should be the destination."
Lightning flashed in Carlotta's eyes. Ignoring the nurous Weird before her, she saw a colossal, majestic city towering at the bottom of the ocean!
