On floor one hundred thirty-seven, the scene resembled an ancient ruin. Countless broken walls and debris spread across the horizon, swords and various weapons stuck into the ground, while shattered iron tools lay scattered everywhere.
The entire area exuded a desolate atmosphere, as if a sealed era had just stepped out from frozen ti and arrived before their eyes.
Within a zone filled with blades and weapons, the mont Carlotta entered, she imdiately felt a powerful pressure descending upon her body.
This pressure wasn’t ordinary, so strange substance in the air caused her mana to automatically circulate the instant she stepped in, rushing through her limbs and organs.
It was purging her body, initiating full-body mana transformation!
As a Resonator, Carlotta undergoes mana transformation every day, but she realized that performing it naturally here was far faster than outside, drastically shortening her training ti.
’For , I’m not lacking in treasures. What I need most now is raising my own rank...’
Carlotta thought.
A place capable of accelerated mana transformation was sothing she couldn’t afford to miss. She was determined to stay and improve herself here.
Alia shared the sa idea.
...
Ti passed.
After an unknown duration, an old man appeared on floor one hundred thirty-seven. He touched around and imdiately spotted Carlotta and Alia.
"Hmm? Soone actually reached this floor before ?"
The old man approached in surprise, looking at the two with confusion.
He quickly grasped the nature of the area where they stood, sensing the effect that triggered full-body mana transformation.
But it was useless to him, he was a Weaver!
As he moved forward to ask them a few questions, Carlotta suddenly opened her eyes and looked his way, a sharp glint flashing in her gaze.
The old man halted his steps, then exclaid, "Young lady, quite fast indeed. How did you manage to reach this floor so quickly?"
Carlotta replied indifferently, "We were just brought here by our elders. Since this place is still useful to us, they left us behind."
"Your elders?"
The old man was startled. "Where are they?"
"Gone up."
Carlotta said.
Upon hearing this, the old man imdiately disregarded the two and hurried off to search for the passage to the next floor.
The higher up the Tower of Babel, the smaller the area beca. Benefits could easily be snatched by others, so he naturally had to speed up.
Seeing this, Carlotta secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
’We ca too quickly. So old-tirs seeing us might get curious about how we arrived so fast, it’d be troubleso. So I had to invent a non-existent elder.’
Carlotta thought inwardly.
In the following ti, as expected, more people arrived, each appearing highly exceptional.
Those who arrived ahead of others undoubtedly were fast, and those who were fast generally weren’t weak. As for luck... inside a tower with over a hundred floors, luck was greatly diluted. Soone might get lucky and find one passage early, but could they rely on luck to find over a hundred passages?
Strong individuals usually think more deeply.
Therefore, upon seeing Carlotta and Alia and learning they were brought here by elders, these people generally didn’t suspect anything. So even worried that higher floors’ benefits would be taken first and hastily accelerated.
Gradually, other Resonators also began to appear here.
"Such a place actually exists?"
The Resonators who arrived were undeniably excited, quickly joining the special area, feeling the pressure imbued with unique power, and enhancing themselves.
Carlotta even spotted so familiar faces, Zorn Wilson, the vampire; Sandra Sanchez, ranked third on the; Ronan Jefferson, ranked second; and many other recognizable figures.
Carlotta ignored everyone, remaining subrged in the sensation of the area, continuously undergoing mana transformation. This place was truly a paradise for Resonators.
’How long have I been here? So many people have arrived already?’
Carlotta glanced around at the people nearby, but didn’t pay them much attention, still absorbed in her own cultivation.
She wasn’t worried about being slower to reach higher floors or benefits being taken.
Because she had learned that spiral staircases only existed in the first one hundred floors fifty. The entrances to higher floors will beco increasingly difficult to find, no longer appearing as spiral staircases. Each floor would detain everyone for a considerable amount of ti.
There was no need to rush. Better to gain benefits here first.
Achilles and Selene arrived as well.
"Wasn’t your intuition supposed to be accurate? So many people are ahead of us, we’ve taken so many detours."
Achilles said to Selene. His tone wasn’t particularly dissatisfied, but the accusation was obvious.
"There are too many disturbing factors inside the Tower of Babel."
Selene offered no further explanation.
They had no need to stay here long. After just taking a look, they went off to search for the next floor.
Soon after, Lucas Castro arrived.
"A paradise for Resonators, huh?"
He wore alchemical armor, his aura deep and his gaze oppressed.
If the chanical fortress’s Resonators ca here, they could gain considerable benefits.
Thinking of the chanical fortress’s Resonators, Lucas’s expression darkened. So many Resonators from the chanical fortress had already died, peak tier Resonators killed by a mysterious enemy. The anger in his heart was difficult to suppress.
He believed the culprit was likely a Weaver. Otherwise, killing peak tier Resonators shouldn’t have been so easy.
But even a Weaver should have to pay a price!
Just as Lucas was about to turn and leave, he suddenly sensed sothing amiss.
His alchemical armor differed from others, it also possessed a certain tracking ability. At the locations where the mysterious enemy killed mbers of the chanical fortress, his armor had collected residual traces.
Now, he detected corresponding traces.
"The enemy has been here? Just passing through? Already gone?"
Lucas wondered.
He hadn’t expected the enemy to still be here. On previous floors, his armor had detected similar traces, but later confird they were rely remnants, the enemy had already left.
Was it the sa situation now?
Lucas didn’t rush to leave. He approached the periter of the special area, carefully sensing through his alchemical armor. The more he sensed, the more astonished he beca.
Why did the enemy’s traces... feel unusually thick?
Lucas was sowhat surprised, feeling the lingering, intense aura of an enemy. Could it be that the enemy had only just left? Or... could the enemy still be here?
He looked around. Although there were quite a few people in sight, if he wasn’t mistaken, they should all just be Resonators, right?
In his original assumption, the enemy who had recently been attacking the chanical Fortress so aggressively should have been a Weaver. Otherwise, the Resonators within the organization wouldn’t have suffered such heavy casualties.
But could he have been wrong?
Could the enemy rely be a Resonator?
Lucas only paused in silence for a mont before becoming serious. His gaze began sweeping through the crowd, searching for suspicious individuals.
The possibility that the enemy was just a Resonator wasn’t completely out of the question. If the Resonator was skilled enough, it wasn’t impossible for them to eliminate mbers of the organization. And no one had ever said the enemy was acting alone!
At the very least, there was definitely an enemy present here.
’These celebrities are all suspicious.’
Lucas thought as his eyes scanned over one celebrity after another.
He recalled a celebrity from his organization, Dale Castro, his highly favored nephew, who had been mysteriously killed after attending a gathering.
At the site where Dale died, the residual enemy aura matched the traces left behind when their alchemical ship had disappeared. It was highly likely the sa person was responsible.
If the culprit wasn’t a Weaver but a Resonator... then the pool of suspects wouldn’t be so large.
After all, Dale Castro had originally ranked ninth on the Celebrity List and was himself a peak tier Resonator.
To defeat Dale, the enemy must also be a peak tier Resonator, and likely rank even higher on the Celebrity List.
Lucas stared at Ronan Jefferson. This man was ranked second on the Celebrity List. Could it be him?
His gaze was intensely invasive. After a mont, Ronan noticed and turned uncomfortably towards him.
Then Ronan started in surprise, waving from afar, "Mr. Lucas, is there sothing you need?"
Lucas frowned and withdrew his gaze.
Unsure whether Ronan was involved, he shifted his attention to others, such as Sandra Sanchez, ranked third on the Celebrity List.
Dale had been attending Sandra’s celebrity gathering when he was attacked after leaving.
Could Sandra be involved?
Sandra felt Lucas’s gaze and grew uneasy, turning to face him.
"Is there sothing wrong, Mr. Lucas?" Sandra asked.
They had all lived in the Bass Archipelago for a long ti and knew each other. So Sandra was sensitive and wary of Lucas’s intense staring. She didn’t know what he was after.
She’d heard that the chanical Fortress had recently been heavily targeted, suffering severe losses. Could this have turned them into rabid dogs, ready to bite anyone they saw?
Sandra thought that in a place like the Tower of Babel, one should remain cautious. There was no reason to trust Lucas’s morality.
Lucas still ignores Sandra, continuing to scan over the other celebrities.
Of course, besides the celebrities, he stepped in at the others too, since he’d considered the possibility that his enemy had accomplices.
Suddenly, Lucas’s gaze paused on two individuals.
They were two people deeply imrsed in the Special Zone, seemingly fully absorbed in the process of full-body transformation. They looked ordinary, like just two regular girls.
But upon seeing them, Lucas imdiately sensed sothing was off.
’False appearances. These looks are Alchemical Artifact-level creations, used to alter their appearance?’
Lucas instantly identified the issue.
He ca from the chanical Fortress, a Transcendent organization dedicated to alchemy, where every mber was essentially an alchemist. Their understanding of alchemy runs deep.
Even though he had devoted much of his energy to training on the Knight’s path and had beco a Weaver, his expertise in alchemy remained formidable. At the very least, after years of constant exposure, his judgnt had beco exceptionally sharp, so he detected the problem with just one glance.
Why were these two hiding their true appearances? What did they really look like? Were they celebrities too?
Not all top ten celebrities were present here. Since Lucas suspected anyone in the top ten, he couldn’t afford to overlook these two girls who used Alchemical artifacts to conceal their faces.
Without hesitation, he attacked. From a distance, he raised his hand and flicked it, a powerful surge of air swept forward, rushing rapidly toward Carlotta, aiming to shatter the mask on her face.
Whether such an attack might cause Carlotta more serious harm was not sothing Lucas considered.
At that mont, Carlotta was fully subrged in her body’s transformation process, feeling every inch of her flesh transform. Her entire being feels incredibly light and graceful, enjoying this process of enhancent.
Suddenly, Carlotta’s heart skipped a beat. A strong sense of danger surged within her.
She quickly turned toward Lucas’s direction, spotting the wave of force rushing at her. Without a second thought, she dodged sharply to the side, ensuring Lucas’s strike would not hit her.
As she evaded, Carlotta was deeply puzzled.
’Why did he suddenly attack ? Did he discover sothing about ? But how could he know it’s ?’
Carlotta couldn’t help but feel confused.
She was startled, and Lucas was equally surprised.
Lucas’s eyes flickered, muttering, "To dodge my attack without any preparation... indeed not simple. Very suspicious. Hmm? She used an Alchemical artifact to conceal her aura, making it hard for to sense her rank. But she’s still undergoing transformation here, so she must be a Resonator, likely a peak tier one. She’s probably one of the top few on the Celebrity List."
In his mind, another suspect was added.
"What do you think you’re doing?" Carlotta demanded.
After being attacked so bluntly, she couldn’t just pretend nothing had happened.
Many people in the Special Zone were now watching Lucas, wary of his actions.
In this paradise for Resonators, a Weaver lingering about, behaving strangely, was impossible to ignore. Sothing clearly felt off.
One by one, people cast suspicious glances at Lucas, unsure what the Weaver intended.
At that mont, Lucas spoke slowly and calmly, "You few, co here. I have so questions to ask you."
