After a mandatory day off, Lake resud his new week with a business eting. Fortunately, it was a FluxCorp eting so he didn’t have to make a trip after getting to the company.
It also ant that he didn’t have to brace to bump into either Clint or Bella...
He had spoken too fast.
Davian stuck to him constantly these days, and Lake had long adapted to it. So even though it was just a harmless business eting, the Alpha had planted his ass on the chair right next to him.
Just as the eting was about to kick off, the door opened to reveal the last person Lake hoped to see.
Bella Blackburn.
FluxCorp was one of the companies completely owned by Davian so there was no case of her being a shareholder.
Lake narrowed his eyes as they exchanged looks, tilting his head to the side. "Lost, Miss Blackburn?"
Bella looked very shaken to see him, going pale. "I was directed here." She said steadily, "I need to see Mafia King Davian."
"It can wait." Davian joined the conversation, "I’ve got a eting."
Isabella had a look of disbelief on her pretty face but this exchange had attracted the attention of the company’s executives so she had no choice but to back away.
As she turned around to leave there was a flash of maliciousness in her black eyes, blonde hair going through the door.
Before this dowdy male Oga showed up, she was the only one with any sway over Mafia King Davian.
The Alpha had tolerated her better than other people but even a blind person could see that the treatnt she had gotten from him was nowhere near what that Oga got.
Davian took him everywhere, and it didn’t even look like the Oga had to beg and sche the Alpha into agreeing.
How had he even gotten pregnant for Davian? Everyone knew that the Mafia King abstained from sex, so it had to be that that pregnant male Oga had pulled a fast one on Davian.
Isabella would usually put herself above such tacky things like fighting over an Alpha, even if said Alpha was a Mafia King.
But her papa had put pressure on her to get closer to Davian, and she had no other choice but to obey.
Because her papa had opened up to her about the drastic state of their finances. She couldn’t just sit back and watch them lose everything, she had to do sothing.
Inside the eting room, Lake’s scowl didn’t fade. He had been looking forward to the eting but now he could hardly focus.
The eting eventually drew to an end and as the executives filed out, Davian turned to Lake with concern in those slate gray eyes.
"Are you alright?"
Lake cursed Davian always paying close attention to him because he couldn’t exactly tell the Alpha that he was antsy at Bella’s presence.
"I’m fine." He muttered flatly, "Don’t you have soone waiting for you?"
Davian’s eyes widened a fraction like he truly had forgotten about Bella, and Lake found it hard to show his current irritation to him.
"Co with ?" Davian invited, looking hopeful.
Gladly! Lake wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. He rose to his feet, "Sure, let’s go."
They didn’t even have to leave the eting room because just as they started for the door, it opened, Bella walking right in.
She did a double take at the sight of Lake, the Oga was like a flea, constantly sticking to Davian.
Lake didn’t miss the glare Bella shot him but he pretended not to see it, remaining by Davian’s side.
"Can we have a private discussion?" Isabella asked bluntly, looking pointedly at Lake.
Davian shrugged, "Whatever you have to say can be said in front of Lake."
Isabella didn’t think so but she knew well how difficult it was to convince Davian so she didn’t try any further.
"I just wanted to invite you to attend the premiere of my comrcial with ." She said, holding out a ticket.
Davian glanced down at it with impassive eyes, "You ca all the way here for this?"
Bella shrunk a bit at his cold tone and emotionless expression. "I-It’s really important to m-..." She stumbled over words.
Davian’s gaze turned frigid, "I didn’t think we were that close, was I mistaken?"
Isabella gulped, if she was being honest, she had never tried to do this before. Convincing Davian to go to a big event hosted by her papa was one thing but coming to his company to boldly ask him on a date was another.
"N-No... I-I..."
Seeing Isabella be reduced to a puddle of stutters, Lake was reminded of how frigid Davian truly was. He wasn’t being delusional when he thought that the Alpha only ever showed warmth to him.
It made him almost feel bad for Bella, almost.
"Congratulations on your premiere but we have an appointnt right now," Lake interrupted Bella’s sputtering, an empty smile on his face.
He started for the door after that, and Davian followed after him without hesitation. "It’s almost noon, are you hungry?"
"Let’s go out to eat after dealing with a couple of issues." Lake suggested, his voice loud enough for Bella to hear.
He had no idea was the heiress was up to but he wasn’t worried about her digging her claws in Davian. The Alpha was like a block of ice.
Lake had to admit, it was easier to deal with guests and client with Davian hovering nacingly over him.
The second appointnt scheduled after the business eting had been inebriated and had mouthed off to him.
Before Lake could co up with a suitable response, Davian had him crushed under a foot, the Beta’s brown stained teeth rolling over the carpet in the room.
Lake had the man dragged out, turning to Davian with concern in his soft brown eyes. "Are you hurt?"
Davian’s eyes widened, his body had moved without any go ahead from his brain so he had montarily panicked after he made the move, knowing how badly Lake did with blood.
