With this delicate look, Evelyn Osbert must have deceived countless people. She appeared weak and knew how to be cute and sweet-talk, and would sotis act pitifully to gain sympathy. At critical monts, she could cry on command, showcasing her acting skills which Isabel was never able to compete with.
Isabel knew that her return to Smith Corporation was a good start, and she didn’t expect that on her first day back in the Smith Family, she would be able to replace Evelyn in Grandma’s heart.
Seeing Mrs. Smith’s cautious expression, Isabel didn’t want to push further on this matter. After all, for the past six years, the Smith Corporation had essentially been Sebastian Smith’s domain. Even though Percy Stanton was prominent in Bellshire’s business circle, he might not be a match for Sebastian. So arguing further might not lead to a better outco than the current situation.
So, Isabel smirked, nodded, and said, “All right, Grandma, I’ll listen to you.”
Percy originally wanted to say sothing, but seeing Isabel agreeing like that, he frowned and finally swallowed his words one by one.
“Since Isabel has agreed, let’s proceed as I just said. Smith Corporation’s business departnt will be divided into two parts, with Isabel and Evelyn each in charge of half. I assu none of you have any objections?” Mrs. Smith raised her head and made her final decision in front of everyone at the dining table.
Sebastian and Carla Osbert’s expressions weren’t very good, but they obediently agreed, “No objections, we’ll listen to you, Mum.”
Seeing Sebastian and Carla agreeing, Evelyn lowered her head, appearing very obedient, and said softly, “Whatever Grandma says, goes.”
Elijah Smith, who was still in university and hadn’t joined Smith Corporation yet, showed no reaction to the situation at the dining table. He just ate his food with a calm expression.
Only Percy leaned lazily against the dining chair, lightly tugging at the corner of his lips, without saying a word.
The crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling cast shadows of varying depth on his face, making his features even more stunning. His smile was as captivating and alluring as ever, but it looked more like he had nothing to say, as if he was mocking sothing.
For the rest of the al, Percy spoke very little.
During this dinner, Evelyn lost half of her power in the Smith Corporation’s business departnt, so Sebastian, Carla, and Evelyn didn’t talk much either.
Although Isabel finally managed to get herself into Smith Corporation, she didn’t seem particularly pleased.
So everyone finished their al with their own thoughts, and then they gathered in the living room. The servant brought after-dinner tea, and they all chatted while drinking.
Mrs. Smith flipped through the calendar placed on the living room tea table, and as if rembering sothing, she looked up at Elijah and said, “In a few days, it’ll be Elijah’s 20th birthday. Carla, you will be in charge of preparing Elijah’s birthday banquet.”
“Yes, Mum.” Carla smiled and agreed.
“Since Isabel is back in Smith Corporation, we need to introduce her properly. On Elijah’s birthday, we will officially present Isabel to everyone.” Mrs. Smith contemplated while looking at Elijah, and said, “Elijah, for this year’s birthday, you can’t bring any dubious females as your opening dance partner. Grandma has decided for you, it’ll be your sister.”
Elijah took a glance at Isabel and mumbled ambiguously, “Oh.”
