"Awoooo—!!!!!!"

A roar, like that of a lion and a tiger, echoed through the sky. The terrifying and sacred voice, as if howling at the moon, was filled with a soul-stirring power.

Crunch! Crunch! Crunch!

The sound of snow being stepped on softly echoed.

From the depths of the park’s jungle, a golden wolf, with elegant steps, as if walking out of a myth, stepped on the snow and leisurely arrived at Touko’s side.

Its curly golden fur was as smooth as silk. Its strong and powerful limbs and ferocious claws were filled with an incomparable divine aura. Though it was a beast, its erald green wolf eyes were filled with a spiritual light, a testant to the fact that it was an intelligent life form.

Her cherry lips trembled slightly. Alice looked at the golden wolf with a moved expression.

Compared to the vague information from the beginner-level spiritual vision, observing the real thing with the naked eye gave Alice a more accurate understanding of the golden wolf.

It was a manifestation of mystery, a sacred life that could only be seen in the age of myths.

—A Phantasmal Species.

Mages divided beasts with mystery into three categories.

Monstrous Beast—Phantasmal Beast—Divine Beast.

And in the modern magical world, the only known existing species was the Monstrous Beast. And the number of Monstrous Beasts found in the world was less than thirty. As for Phantasmal Beasts, they were life forms that only existed in records, life forms that had vanished with the passing of the age of myths.

But now, a Phantasmal Species had appeared before Alice, a magus.

The thought of ’dissecting it for research’ had just arisen, but was imdiately dispersed by her reason.

Magic was the study of the past. The older an existence, the higher its mystery. And the Phantasmal Beast before her was an ancient life form that had existed on the earth at least three thousand years ago.

According to the principle that mystery submits to a higher mystery, all her magical ans, or rather, the magical ans of a modern magus, were as thin as paper to the golden wolf, tearing at the slightest touch.

’This ti, I’m really checkmated.’ Despair began to fill Alice’s dark eyes.

————

"...Touko actually found such a rare husky!" Haru, in the living room of the Tohno mansion, took a sip of tea and said with a surprised expression.

Though the golden wolf’s physique was strong, its appearance was like that of a husky, a canine animal.

So, Haru subconsciously used the word ’Husky’ to describe it.

But to Haru, this Phantasmal Species was no different from a husky. He had roasted and eaten a Divine Beast, a level above it, and had killed many gods.

To him, a Phantasmal Beast was really nothing special.

But to Alice, a Phantasmal Species, just the mystery it carried was enough to render her helpless.

The outco was decided.

"Well, now I just have to wait for a cry for help." Haru took another sip of tea, set down the cup, and leisurely lay on his side on the soft sofa.

Haru had displayed his spatial abilities before Alice more than once. He knew that she was undoubtedly aware that he was watching the battle.

In Haru’s view, facing an opponent who was cheating, it was inevitable that Alice would seek the support of him, a bigger cheat.

All she had to do was ask for help, even just give a signal, and he could arrive at Shagi Park in an instant and save her from the wolf’s jaws. That’s why he was now so carefree, lying on the sofa, drinking tea.

The reason he was waiting for a cry for help was out of consideration for Alice’s pride.

"Speak up. I just need a signal. A signal that allows to intervene." Haru closed his eyes, his deep gray pupils reflecting Alice’s face.

————

Touko smiled, enjoying the witch’s despair, and gestured to the golden wolf beside her.

"Go on, Beo. Play with Alice."

Alice’s gaze sharpened. She gently lifted her hand.

Even knowing she was no match, she wouldn’t be captured without a fight. Instead, she decided to make a desperate move.

"Ooh—!"

With Alice’s gesture, the sixteen-ter-tall Giant of the Bridge lifted its huge stone fist, which was like the front of a truck.

Unlike its clumsy appearance, the Giant of the Bridge was incredibly agile. In just half a second, it raised its fist, clenched it, gathered its strength, and swung, all in one smooth motion.

With a heavy roar, it sent the truck-like fist straight for—Touko.

The witch was well-versed in the principle of capturing the king to capture the thieves.

"Awoooo!!!!!!"

Beo, the golden wolf, looked at the swinging Giant of the Bridge with curiosity. Even sensing that its target was Touko, it was not at all flustered.

Like a normal husky running, Beo’s strong hind legs gently pushed off. But unlike its gentle movents, its speed was terrifying.

Like a golden laser, Beo instantly arrived before the Giant of the Bridge’s chest and launched a savage charge at its heart.

The two-ter-tall golden wolf and the sixteen-ter-tall stone giant collided, like a weak baby charging at a strong man.

However, strength cannot be judged by appearance.

Like a sharp blade cutting through cheese, Beo’s body shot straight into the Giant of the Bridge’s heart—directly piercing through its atrium and landing on the snow behind it.

The stone fist, which had been swinging towards Touko, stopped abruptly.

Touko chuckled and blew a breath at the stone fist before her.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Like pushing the first domino, the Giant of the Bridge, its core destroyed, lost all its strength and, with a roar, crumbled into scattered rubble, returning to the embrace of the earth.

"Awoooo!" Beo let out a low bark, shook its head, and shook its body, shaking the rubble from its long, wolfish body. Then, it turned its erald green gaze to Alice.

Alice’s pupils constricted. She had a spiritual vision of being pierced through the abdon by Beo and was about to jump to the side to dodge.

However, her body, weakened by the Mystic Eyes, was a step too slow.

A golden laser shot through Alice’s body.

Haru’s eyes snapped open, and a cold, murderous intent poured out.
