Qiao Rui froze for a mont, her heart tightening. Had he discovered sothing?

Looking up, her eyes t Pei Liyan’s deep gaze.

Beneath the bright lights, his eyes shimred with the luster of glazed glass, reflecting her face and causing her heart to skip a beat, filling her with apprehension.

She didn’t speak for a while and just frowned at him, the atmosphere turning sowhat silent.

Pei Liyan’s sharp gaze stayed on her, apparently waiting for her to speak first, but she remained silent.

Pei Liyan’s pupils held a cold light as he said in a deep voice, "Don’t you have anything to say?"

Qiao Rui shook her head resolutely, "No!"

Pei Liyan’s handso features tensed, and a complex light swirled in his eyes montarily.

He finally said, "From the beginning until now, everything about you seems to be a mystery. Today, you ntion Song Xun again, making feel as if your targeting of Song Xun isn’t for your so-called friend, but rather that you are targeting Song Xun himself."

"Then tell , is he a good man?" Qiao Rui t his gaze and countered.

Pei Liyan’s eyes grew colder, scanning over Qiao Rui’s face, seeing her indifference, and suddenly, he scoffed coldly and sardonically.

"Whether he is a good man isn’t for you to judge; after all, you are not the one he wronged!"

Qiao Rui’s eyebrows twitched, "That’s true. If he had wronged , I certainly would have castrated him."

Pei Liyan flinched suddenly.

Qiao Rui even felt the muscles in the man’s legs beneath her tighten.

It was an instinctive reaction.

Unable to hold back, Qiao Rui suddenly laughed. "Why so nervous? You’re not afraid that I’ll castrate you, are you?"

Caught off guard by her question, Pei Liyan stared at her with an intense look.

In that mont when she had just spoken,

Pei Liyan was suddenly reminded of Ruirui, and of the castrated Chen Haimin, that bloody scene lingering in his mind, refusing to fade away.

And Qiao Rui’s words unconsciously made him confuse Qiao Rui with Ruirui.

If it wasn’t for the two faces being different, he really would have thought they were the sa person!

Seeing that he remained silent and fixed his gaze on her, Qiao Rui blinked and looked down at his legs, sensing his overbearing presence without needing to look up.

Then she heard Pei Liyan’s deep voice, "Are you implying sothing about with this veiled talk?"

Qiao Rui smiled and said, "If you say so, then yes. Will you let down?"

"Do you now expect to get more from ?" Instead of answering, Pei Liyan asked back.

Qiao Rui glanced at him, then turned her gaze to the television, not looking at Pei Liyan again.

The atmosphere beca chilly, the room falling into silence.

"No answer?" Pei Liyan nudged her.

Qiao Rui said, "You don’t have to feel any particular way. I have no expectations of you, nor have I thought about entangling with you for a lifeti."

Upon hearing this, Pei Liyan felt a stifling sensation in his chest.

But he still said, "It’s best that way. Otherwise, the one who gets hurt might be you."

Qiao Rui shrugged. "Then let go. I want to watch TV."

"Still have the energy to watch TV?" Pei Liyan looked down at her, "Since you have the energy, let’s do sothing else."

Qiao Rui knew what he was implying, and she didn’t respond.

The man scooped her up and carried her back to the bedroom.

However, afterward, Qiao Rui couldn’t get into the act.

Pei Liyan tried for a long ti and distinctly felt her distraction.

He finally stopped, his handso features glistening with sweat, looking down at her. "You can still be preoccupied at this ti?"

Qiao Rui yawned and said to him, "Sorry, I ate too much and don’t feel like it anymore!"

He frowned, not at all pleased by her words.

On the contrary, he even felt it was an excuse.

Afterward, Pei Liyan also felt there was no need to continue and ended things hastily before going to take a shower.

Qiao Rui lay on the bed, feeling very annoyed and in a bad mood, not knowing if it was because of his words or because he had never been serious.

She looked in the direction of the bathroom, staring for a long ti.

By the ti he ca out, she had gone to take a shower.

When she ca out, he had already lain down, his back to her.

Qiao Rui glanced at his figure, but didn’t speak. She just felt a sense of emptiness in her heart, as if she had lost interest in everything, and everything started to seem tasteless.

Fortunately, she wasn’t that serious, otherwise, she might have been the one who was truly hurt.

Still, there was a heaviness in her heart.

Qiao Rui got into bed and also turned away to sleep.

Both of them lay back to back, neither paying any attention to the other.

The next morning.

When Qiao Rui opened her eyes, he happened to open his too.

Their eyes t.

Pei Liyan looked at her and then said, "Xu Nuosheng and Gao Yan changed their testimonies under interrogation by the prosecutor’s side last night."

Qiao Rui was startled. "When did that happen?"

"Last night."

"And you’re only telling now?" Qiao Rui was astonished, feeling as though he had intentionally kept it from her.

"You didn’t ask yesterday, and I didn’t rember," Pei Liyan said in a deep voice.

If he was the kind of person who could easily forget, she’d twist off her head and kick it around like a ball.

He did it on purpose, not telling her.

Qiao Rui, with a stern face, asked, "Changed to what?"

"I thought your friends would have told you."

"My friends?" Qiao Rui frowned.

Pei Liyan looked at her deeply, "You have a lot of friends, and they are very capable, aren’t they?"

Choked up for a mont, Qiao Rui said, "Yes, I have many friends. If you won’t tell , I’ll ask them."

Pei Liyan was taken aback for a mont, then said, "Your friends really didn’t tell you?"

"If you want to talk, talk. If not, forget it." Qiao Rui walked toward the bathroom.

Pei Liyan’s voice followed her.

"They’ve overturned all their previous statents. Everything Cheng Mingyu interrogated before is overturned. They said it was a spur-of-the-mont action and completely exculpated Qiao Xiang," said Pei Liyan.

Hearing this, Qiao Rui instantly sensed the subterfuge.

She turned to look at him. "Did you have a hand in this?"

Pei Liyan raised his eyes to et hers, his gaze intense, "No."

"Then it was you who commanded others to act?" Qiao Rui’s gaze was soft but composed, having confird his involvent, "Regardless, thank you for this."

"I thought you would scold ," he said with a smile.

Qiao Rui humphed, "It’s all the sa if I scold you in my heart."

Pei Liyan was taken aback.

Qiao Rui had already turned to enter the bathroom.

Pei Liyan called after her, "You might want to think it through; Qiao Xiang may not be grateful to you."

"It’s enough if you’re grateful. She has always wanted to offer herself to you, and if you’re interested, you might go to her and ask," Qiao Rui said without looking back, then closed the door.

A frustrated Pei Liyan was left standing, feeling as though he was considered just any other man.

He took a deep breath, feeling sowhat suffocated.

Just like last night, she had managed to annoy him again.

He thought of the ti with Rui Qing, when he had been drugged and, having no choice, ultimately surrendered to his own desire.

But with Ruirui, he definitely had interest; he felt the urge whenever he encountered her.

And as for Qiao Rui, his urge was even stronger,

no different from when he was with Ruirui.

After changing clothes, Pei Liyan went to find He Zheng for answers and resolutions.
