Qiao Xu’s heart trembled subconsciously. When he helped her fasten her seatbelt, she averted her gaze and said indifferently, "Thank you."
Her tone was stiff, her expression sowhat unnatural. She didn’t look at Lu Moqing again. Surprisingly, it was Lu Moqing who raised his eyebrows at her unexpectedly polite gratitude. He glanced at her downcast eyes and covered his slightly upturned lips with one hand.
By the ti Lu Moqing brought Qiao Xu back ho, Qiao Yi had been picked up by Lin Yuan.
"Madam, you’re back."
Hearing the sound of the fingerprint lock unlocking, the young nanny Lin Yuan poked her head out of the kitchen to greet them and imdiately saw the tall and handso figure supporting Qiao Xu.
"Mr. Lu?"
There was a hint of joy in Lin Yuan’s eyes. She put down the vegetables she was washing and ca out of the kitchen. Without noticing Qiao Xu’s unsteady movents, she looked at Lu Moqing with a soft voice, "I’m making dinner. Would you like to stay for a al, Mr. Lu?"
Qiao Xu frowned at Lin Yuan’s enthusiasm and said, "Xiao Lin."
Noticing Qiao Xu’s displeasure in her tone, Lin Yuan hesitated and quickly explained, "Madam, I saw that Mr. Lu ca back with you, so I thought I’d ask if he needs an extra portion. What do you think...?"
Qiao Xu’s gaze lingered on Lin Yuan for a few seconds, seemingly thoughtful. Then she look away indifferently and said, "Mr. Lu was rely being helpful by sending ho. He won’t be eating here."
"Oh... okay."
Lin Yuan couldn’t hide the disappointnt in her eyes. She glanced apologetically at the inscrutable Lu Moqing, as if to say she wanted to invite him to stay, but Qiao Xu wouldn’t allow it, and there was nothing she could do about it.
"Well, madam... I’ll go back to cooking."
Although she was speaking to Qiao Xu, her eyes lingered on Lu Moqing with a hint of reluctance, even though he didn’t look at her.
As she turned to walk back to the kitchen, she heard Lu Moqing’s deep and slightly annoyed voice in the living room, "Helpful? "
A few soft laughs followed from Lu Moqing’s mouth. "Qiao Xu, I never thought I would be such a good person in your heart."
Qiao Xu looked at him faintly and retorted sarcastically, "What? President Lu did a good deed and now you expect to repay you?"
"Shouldn’t I?"
He sat down on the sofa across from Qiao Xu, his long legs casually crossed, giving off an air of unruliness and laziness, yet also with a sense of king-like authority.
His eyes were deep and indifferent as they t Qiao Xu’s gaze. "Qiao Xu, I’m a businessman, a successful businessman at that. Businessn pursue profit, and I’ve never been involved in charity in anything I do."
He moved his thin lips and smiled at Qiao Xu. The evil glint in his eyes made her feel like he was up to no good, no matter how she looked at him.
"True, President Lu is not only a successful businessman but also a successful villain."
Qiao Xu nodded in agreent, raising an eyebrow at Lu Moqing. "So, President Lu was so ’benevolent’ today, taking to the doctor and personally bringing ho. How would you like to repay you?"
That fox-like smile on his face made Qiao Xu want to punch him.
Lu Moqing looked at her with a grin, gently tapping the armrest of the sofa with his finger, as if pondering how Qiao Xu could repay him.
