The sky was dark.

Sitting on the bed, Mo Roulan looked very lost. She was thinking about whatever happened today.

It was difficult for her to believe that He Jian still wanted to date her.

’It was not your fault.’

She rembered his words.

’But you were kidnapped because of . Don’t you bla at all? I did all that for money.’

She had asked him. How could he behave so differently from her past life!

The man had, however, said very firmly.

’I don’t care.’

As if this was not enough, he even told her firmly

’I like you and you better not avoid after whatever happened today. If you tried to hide then I will bring you out and this ti I will not leave you alone even for a mont.’

He threatened her but she saw the fear lurking in his eyes.

As if he was afraid that she would leave him even without telling him.

That fear in He Jian’s eyes made Mo Roulan’s heart sink.

Because she, for the first ti, finally believed that He Jian loved her.

’What if I did it intentionally! What if I only want your money!’

She had asked him before she left his apartnt. She, just, wanted to see the past life He Jian for once so that she could strengthen her heart.

He Jian had frowned at her question. He had looked at her carefully. However, he gave an answer she had never expected to hear.

’It doesn’t matter. If you want money, I can give all of it to you. But I won’t allow you to leave .’

This was not what she had been expecting to hear.

Unable to say or think anything, she could only co back to her apartnt.

A sigh escaped from Mo Roulan’s lips.

She seed to be stuck.

What should be done now?

He loves her. He indeed loves her but Mo Roulan was still full of questions.

Why did He Jian love her?

The knock on the door brought her out of her thoughts.

Mo Roulan stood up to open the gate and was surprised to see her mother awake.

"Roulan, did I wake you up?"

"No, Mom. Is everything alright?"

"Yes. Mom just wanted to talk to you about sothing."

Mo Roulan opened the door more and a mont later, she and her mother were sitting on the bed.

She looked at her mother waiting for her to say sothing.

Lin Qianru however didn’t seem to understand how she should start. She didn’t want to delay all this. So she couldn’t help but choose to talk to Mo Roulan tonight only.

She didn’t even know how much ti she has been left. It must be a few months. She wished that she would marry Chi Rong early and then her children would have nice relations with Chi Rong.

Only then she would be able to rest peacefully after her death.

Taking a deep breath, she raised her head and looked at her daughter.

"You ...you never asked about your father."

Mo Roulan’s mind went blank for a mont. She didn’t expect that her mother would say sothing like this.

The image of the man holding her in his strong arms flashed in her mind. Mo Roulan didn’t have many mories of her father but whatever she had were very happy mories.

She rembered that when her father was there for them, they lived a very good life. Her mother was very happy and then she even got a younger brother.

However, her father disappeared suddenly.

It is not that she didn’t want to ask her mother but she saw a forlorn look on her father whenever soone in the town ntioned her father in front of her mother.

She didn’t like to see her mother like that so she never dared to ask her mother about her father. It was her mother’s voice that brought her out of her trance.

"Your father...he had great ambitions."

Lin Qianru whispered and Mo Roulan saw the sa forlorn look in her eyes that she used to see years ago.

There was a bitter smile on Lin Qianru’s lips as she continued

"My love was not enough for him to stay."

Mo Roulan’s heart seed to be squeezed by sothing. Her eyes teared up and her chin wobbled.

In fact, all these years she seed to have a guess inside her heart. Otherwise, why would her mother look so lost at the ntion of her father?

However, hearing that still hurt her imnsely.

"Mom..."

She whispered as she held her mother’s hand tightly trying to give her so strength.

She no longer knew what she should feel about her father.

However, her mother was the most important person to her.

Lin Qianru smiled and patted her daughter’s hand.

"I am alright."

She whispered though her eyes were filled with tears.

Her eyes stayed on Mo Roulan for a long ti before she finally said what she had co to say.

"Roulan, do you mind if mother marries again?"

.

.

.

Mo Roulan closed the door sohow.

She slid down against it as she covered her face. Her mother’s question struck her like a thunderbolt.

Her mother wanted to remarry. She didn’t know what she should feel about that.

She would have another father.

Though she told her mother that she only wanted her happiness, her heart seed to be suffocated by sothing.

She passed the night very restlessly.

The image of her father and mories from her past life continued to flash in her dreams.

The next morning, she was not feeling well when she woke up. When she ca out of her room after getting ready, Mo Roulan realized that her mother had left already.

She served breakfast for her and Mo Chen.

"Jiejie, are you unwell?"

Mo Chen asked with a worried voice when he saw his sister’s face.

Mo Roulan shook her head but Mo Chen climbed the chair to touch her forehead and he was shocked to realize that she had a fever.

"Jiejie, you should rest."

"I am alright"

Mo Roulan said calmly. Mo Chen frowned when he saw her like this.

Just then, the doorbell rang.

Mo Chen’s eyes flickered. He knew who it would be. Perhaps that’s why he imdiately ran to open the door.

Mo Roulan didn’t want him to open the door alone.

So she followed him.

However, as soon as the door opened, she heard her brother say to He Jian.

"Brother Jian, Jiejie has a fever."

Mo Roulan blinked and looked down at her brother with a frown.

Why did he tell this to He Jian?

On the other hand, He Jian looked at Mo Roulan’s pale face and confird what Mo Chen said.

"Lanlan...you go to the room. I will call Zhihan."

Mo Roulan glanced at her brother again who didn’t et her eyes at all and then said to He Jian.

"Mr. He, I am alright. There is no need to ..."

However, she was forced to shut up when He Jian suddenly glanced at her with narrowed eyes.

"Do you want to say sothing?"

"No!"

Co on! Who would dare to say sothing if you would look at the person like this!

Mo Roulan could feel that she was not well. Perhaps that’s why she didn’t want to waste her energy by arguing with He Jian.

However, the thought of having Fang Zhihan co to check on her didn’t settle well with her.

Especially after whatever happened yesterday...

She went back to her room after telling Mo Chen to have breakfast and then go down to wait for the school bus.

Mo Chen didn’t dare to disobey his sister after his little stunt.

Mo Roulan didn’t realize when she fell asleep on the bed. It was only when she felt sothing cold on her forehead, did she open her eyes.

She ca across the pair of blue eyes filled with concern.

"How are you feeling now?"

He Jian asked gently as he stroked her hair. There was a cloth on her forehead.

Mo Roulan didn’t know why but she felt slightly emotional when she saw him like this. Swallowing the lump in her throat, she answered

"Alright."

He Jian’s lips were pressed in a thin line.

A mont later, Mo Roulan heard his cold voice.

"In fact, it is futile to ask you. You never tell when you face any trouble."

She didn’t know what she should say in response to these words.

So she closed her eyes again.

She wanted a break from all the ss.
