"Maze? That’s a nice na," Aric said.
"Thank you. Now that you have won the duel, we can discuss what you want, though I still reserve the right to say no if it proves too risky for my pack," she spoke calmly.
Aric nodded. He found a tree and sat down close to it, leaning his back against it. She watched him carefully, waiting for him to begin his explanation.
"The Terror is a threat to all of us, one that looked over our heads regardless of where you are, shattering lives and destroying hos."
"Tell sothing I don’t already know," she cut him off and said.
"I possess the resources and planning to make us defeat the Terror. I have the raw materials, everything that could possibly bring us victory.
And with the smartest minds working together, we will be able to create a plan that is secure and safe," he said.
"You are saying that you have materials to defeat the Terror. I find that hard to believe, but I have decided to humor you and follow you, so go on," she said.
"Thank you," he responded. But then, as if she rembered sothing, she raised her hand slightly to call his attention.
"You do understand that having a good plan on what to do will not help if you know nothing about your enemy, right?
We need to know how to get the Terror in a vulnerable situation to be able to take him down. So what do you propose in that regard?" she asked.
"Well, it might shock you, but my village is made up of hundreds of goblins that were once bound to the Terror. They are enslaved from birth and have been in service to him ever since.
I managed to free them from their hands, and now the village is their ho. But beyond that, we have soone, a job goblin that was one of the main generals of the Terror, and now he works for .
He possesses insider knowledge about the workings of the Terror and the cave in which they stay. With all that, I’m sure that we can at least build sothing from there," Aric said.
"Hmm, and these people, you are certain that you can trust them? And that they will not just turn on you for the Terror?" she asked.
"I have done all there is to test their loyalty all around. And also, after a while of learning about the Terror, I’ve co to know that he is an impulsive baby that doesn’t really plan.
He believes that his power is enough to run through everything, and so there is no need for tactics. He wouldn’t have the ti or patience to plant goblins in the village," Aric said.
"Hmm, you do seem sure of everything you have said. But before we will agree to this, we will have to see this very village that you speak of and if it is worth it for us to fight for you," she said, folding her arms and looking right at Aric.
"That’s great. We can leave whenever you are ready," he said.
"I see," she responded without any proper context. She had thought he would back off at the ntion of seeing his ho, but he seed eager to take them.
"Are you not scared that whatever it is that you have there, we might steal the concept to make us stronger?" she asked.
"We are supposed to be partners for this to work, so I’ll happily allow you to see everything that you want there. Also, I think you’ll find that copying anything that is there will be hard for you," Aric said with an innocent smile.
She didn’t fully understand what he ant by the last part, but she decided not to dig into it too much.
"We will prepare an area within the cave for you to rest for the night, and at the break of dawn, I, along with a few of my closest wolves, will follow you to your ho," she said.
"That’s a plan," Riven said and got up. They both headed back to the cave, where Raze, Raza, Ariel, Unara, Pentharis, and Razalem were standing and waiting.
Tensions were high as they all waited for their respective leaders to return. When they finally saw them co out of the forest, they rushed over in a hurry.
"Alpha, what happened? You were gone for so long," Raza asked.
"You don’t need to worry. I was simply having a chat with the human since he had won the bet," she said.
Raza and Raze looked at Aric in disbelief. "This man defeated our Alpha?" Raza asked in shock.
"No, I didn’t defeat her. Your master is far too strong for the current . All I did was force her to transform into her true form and won the bet," Aric explained.
Suddenly, a hand wrapped around his neck and pulled his head down. Ariel stared daggers into his soul.
"Don’t go out fighting recklessly next ti. Do you want to end your life?" she asked.
"I’m sorry," he apologized quickly.
Now that everyone had cald down, Maze spoke, "Now that he proved himself worthy, Raza, Raze, and as well will be following them to their ho tomorrow to see what is there," she said.
"We are following them?" Raza asked.
"Yes indeed we are, for the sake of a better relationship and to understand our fighting chance against the Terror," she said.
After explaining so small rushed details, they finally went into the cave, leading the group into a place where so soft hay was gathered cleanly for them.
After the wolves left the cave, Pentharis let out a pained sigh. "We seriously have to sleep on hay?" he asked.
"Don’t complain, Pentharis. You ca here for a mission and not to make yourself comfortable.
We already have a good relationship going on with them, so let’s trust to keep it going," he added.
