"Nanny Lowell."
I stopped her and said, "Don’t tell him. There’s no point."
Even if Nanny Lowell did tell him, Timothy Xavier would only think I was making a fuss over nothing, or acting like a victim to compete with Serena Sawyer.
Even if he actually believed Nanny Lowell, I no longer wanted Timothy Xavier’s remorse and pity.
Because I stood in her way, Nanny Lowell finally didn’t make the call.
...
Half an hour later, Jenna Sutton rushed to the hospital.
Seeing my face as pale as paper, she snapped, "Didn’t I tell you not to go along with his vegetarian nonsense? Look at what you’ve beco! Such a gorgeous woman, and now there’s not a hint of color in your face!"
After scolding , Jenna’s eyes turned red with concern, and she said fiercely, "Timothy Xavier, that bastard, he better watch out! That howrecker’s daughter—she can forget about getting into St. Jude’s Kindergarten."
I didn’t want Jenna to get dragged into this and reminded her, "The Xavier Group is the major shareholder of St. Jude’s Kindergarten. Don’t get in trouble with him because of . Even if she doesn’t get into your kindergarten, he’ll find another place for his kid."
Jenna glanced warily at Nanny Lowell, as if worried she’d go back and repeat what was said.
Before she could tell Nanny Lowell to go ho, Nanny Lowell got a call from the villa.
Apparently, Timothy Xavier bought a box of premium bird’s nest at an auction, and had just sent it back to the villa.
So Serena Sawyer wanted Nanny Lowell to go ho and stew bird’s nest for her.
There are so many staff in the villa, but it had to be Nanny Lowell doing this—obviously because she was here with .
She wanted everyone good to gone, not just my husband, but every person who cared about .
I told Nanny Lowell, "You should go back, Jenna’s here with , it’s fine."
Nanny Lowell is just an employee, so she could only look at anxiously and say, "Ma’am, please call if you need anything."
I nodded.
Once she left, Jenna finally got down to business. "Zoe Ellison, you never used to take things lying down! From what Nanny Lowell just said, the howrecker is living in your house now? How can you stand it?"
"I’m not tolerating it. I’m divorcing him, for sure."
When I said that, Jenna looked at in shock.
We’ve known each other since elentary school; she’s seen my entire history with Timothy Xavier.
Back when Timothy decided to practice Buddhism, and I chose to support him by following all his rules, Jenna told I was done for!
She said even if Timothy soday brought the other woman back ho, I loved him so much, I’d probably end up caring for her during her postpartum month.
But the truth turned out worse than Jenna ever predicted. Timothy’s mistress had already given birth to his child—who’s three years old now.
No need for to do any postpartum care at all.
It’s actually pretty ironic when I think about it.
But now, I told Jenna in a very clear, rational tone: "This ti, I’m done making excuses for him. I just can’t blow things up with him right now—my mom still needs the heart-lung support device Xavier Group is developing to survive. That equipnt won’t be on the market for another month."
Jenna finally understood why I had to grit my teeth and stay where I was.
Speaking of divorce, she said, "Right. The lawyer I found for you last ti—she works with The Sutton Group all the ti. I’ll call her over to see what procedures you’ll need."
"Okay."
I nodded.
While waiting for the lawyer, Jenna aimlessly scrolled through X.
On Serena Sawyer’s X account, she showed off the premium bird’s nest with a caption: "Even people grinding away in showbiz deserve self-care and a beauty boost! Ladies, let try it out for all of you first."
Serena’s face had been swollen like a pig’s head yesterday after I hit her, but she just posted an old photo.
The comnts section was full of praise:
"Serena was always gorgeous—if she eats that bird’s nest, she’ll be a goddess! How are the rest of us supposed to live?"
"I know this brand—it’s only sold at auction. Crazy expensive, costlier than gold! Supposed to be amazing for a woman’s health!"
"We’ll never be able to afford it in this lifeti, sob sob! So jealous of my queen—so beautiful, and so rich!"
...
Jenna stared at Serena’s rosy, flawless skin in the photo, then looked at my pallor, so angry she was practically grinding her teeth.
She said to , "The one who really needs that health boost is you! Timothy Xavier must be blind, giving all the good stuff to her!"
We were talking when the lawyer arrived.
She was about thirty, nad Hannah Quincy, and looked very sharp.
I told Hannah about my marriage situation and what I wanted, when suddenly I heard the voice of Timothy Xavier’s other assistant, Jack Sullivan, outside the door.
"President Xavier, I think your wife is in that room up ahead."
Both Jenna and I went pale. Was Timothy Xavier here?
If this man found out we were eting with a divorce lawyer, who knows how he’d react?
