Ryan was hopeful, thinking he would finally have a chance to explain things to Arwen. But all his hope shattered when he heard her speaking in favor of soone that was not him.

Has she really forgotten him and moved on?

That thought made his fingers tighten around the doorknob. One part of him humd in response to that question, while the other part wanted him to not give up … just yet. And he chose to go with the latter. He might have failed her once but he wouldn't fail her again.

All he needed was a chance and he was sure that she would be kind enough to give that to him if he made things clear to her.

"Wait. Senior Sister found soone better. When? I an isn't Mr. Foster already the best for her?"

"Arwen!"

Just when Carl spoke, Ryan's voice cut in surprising everyone.

"Aye. Brother-in-law, we were just talking about you," he said before walking to him, his face brimming with excitent. After all, he had kept a secret for so long that now, he couldn't wait to unveil it. "Co in. Why are you still standing there? Senior Sister, brother-in-law is here, won't you formally introduce us?"

Arwen hadn't turned around. Though she has heard Ryan's voice, she has kept her back towards him. When she heard Carl addressing him as brother-in-law, she turned to look, her gaze eting with Ryan's before shifting to Carl.

"Carl," she began, her lips slowly turning up into one of her softest smiles. "He is not your brother-in-law. Be good. I will introduce you all to him when he cos. He has said he will be here later for the dinner."

Ryan's fingers clenched tight. His eyes stared at Arwen as if trying to see even a slight hint of her faltering, but she never faltered. Instead, she remained, standing as if truly confident about her every word.

Carl's brows tugged in a frown as he turned to look back at Ryan with confusion. "He is not br—"

Before he could say more, Ryan spoke interrupting him. "Arwen, there are things that I need to explain to you. Can we talk?"

Arwen stared at him, not saying anything. Though she looked like she was considering, she had long decided the things. She knew Ryan would be coming today and she had prepared herself for this in advance.

After a mont, her gaze darted to look at Eira and Alia, who understanding her cue nodded before walking to Carl. Tugging on his pullover from behind, Eira pulled him out of the room while Alia said, "Senior Sister, we will go and take a stroll outside. Call us anyti. We won't be far away."

"Aye, if you want to take a stroll, go on your own. Why are you dragging along? I am still confused need to ask Senior Sister," Carl cried, but not paying any heed to his words, Alia closed the door after them, leaving Arwen and Ryan alone in the room.

While outside, Carl frowned at them. Putting his hands on his waist, he asked, "What was this? I am not a girl like you who needs to flock together for things as simple as loo. Step aside, I need to go inside and —"

"Great heavens blessed us by not creating you as a girl or else we all would be dood," Alia said shaking her head.

"What do you an?" he asked and the two girls looked at each other before shaking their heads at him.

"Dumbo," Eira said, "can't you see, they needed to talk and your presence there would have simply ruined their conversation."

"My presence?" he repeated as if not able to understand what she ant. "What did I do? I just wanted to confirm why did Senior Sister say that Mr. Foster isn't our brother-in-law?"

And at that Alia stuffed her phone in his hand, before pursing her lips at him. "Because he is not," she said, and then gestured for him to look down at the screen. "Are you stupid to call a random man as her husband? What if her real husband has been there? Do you think he would leave you to live another day?"

Carl swallowed before looking down at the screen that had the news about Arwen's marriage announcent. "This? When did this co?"

"Just when you weren't checking, stupid," Alia remarked sarcastically and Eira added, "It's been a while, Carl. Why have you not been checking the internet?"

"I don't know," Carl said, still trying his best to understand. Wasn't this a secret he had to keep from Senior Sister? Why was he the only one clueless about it? He wanted to while, but that would have been childish, so instead he asked the reason. "But wasn't Senior Sister always engaged to Mr. Foster. I an, though he never ca to Giselle and Senior Sister never introduced us to him, we always knew he was her fiancé, didn't we?"

Eira and Alia exchanged glances before sharply turning to the young boy, as if ready to strangle him. Understanding their intention, Carl quickly swallowed and changed the topic as if he never brought it out.

"And by the way why do you two know about it all while I am still oblivious?" he said, pretending to be hurt. "We three have been together always and I am like a brother to you two. Shouldn't you two have given a heads-up before? Why did you make make a fool there?"

Alia pressed her lips in a thin line before saying, "Because we wanted to see you dead in the hands of the Senior Sister's real husband." She then turned to look at Eira and said, "Eira, what do you think? Don't you feel that it would be fun? There would be no one to annoy and irritate us from tomorrow."

While Eira chuckled, Carl frowned. "What do you an? Why would Senior Sister's husband would kill ?"

"Oh, don't you know?" Alia asked, making a sympathetic face for him. "n don't like when soone calls their woman to be sowhere else. Sothing which you did repeatedly. Oh, yes, how would you know?" she paused as if suddenly stuck with the realization. "You are still growing to be a man. You will know when you will beco one full —only if you are fortunate enough to live up until that ti."

While Alia continued to hold a sympathetic look, Eira struggled hard to hold back laughter, seeing Carl already losing the color of his face.
