The cold, empty feeling of death grasped as Oliver’s forlorn figure appeared in an empty space. Everything around him was midnight black with no shape or form anywhere in sight. His body looked like a blob of blood, undulating and moving across the empty space like a kite with its string broken.

His figure, the blood blob, was moving without purpose or reason, at tis to the left, at tis to the right, swaying and weaving as if trapped in an unpredictable current.

’I died.’

A thought ford in his mind as he grasped what had happened to him.

If his body could have been repaired, he would have awakened a while later, into a fully healed body. The fact that he ca to the darkness ant he died.

’I died again. The sewer water must have made my body incapable of healing. And the injuries I sustained were no joke.’

Oliver looked around the empty space with a familiar sense of joy and loathing. The reason for his happiness was the possibility that he could revive and live. And he loathed it because it was difficult to do so.

The cold, dark world that was endlessly expanded to surround him had its own laws and rules. To revive, he would have to spend ti and effort to reach his destination while obeying those rules.

Oliver quickly turned to glance around. Although his body was floating and moving without his control, he could look around.

At the end of his search, on his far right, at a distance barely noticeable by his senses, he saw a red beacon.

In the empty world, except for him, there was sothing else.

The beacon was a red star, shining brightly in the dark space.

’I need to get to it.’

Instinctively, Oliver felt like moving towards it. Like a moth towards fire, with an irresistible feeling rising from deep within his soul, his body moved forward.

As if enchanted by sothing, his body quickly moved in a straight path towards it.

It took a second for him to notice what was happening. Imdiately, he turned around, the non-existent eyes looking away from the star.

’Fuck!’

He cursed in his mind.

The glowing red sun was a trap. The mont he goes near it, he will turn to vapour and die.

Oliver learned of it the hard way in the past.

When his revive ability activated for the first ti, he was enchanted by the sun and flew close to it. At that ti, the heat and energy waves tore through his body, the blood blob, decreasing its volu by half.

Fortunately, he woke up by pure chance at that exact mont and escaped being erased.

Then, for the next few months, without knowing the actual ti, he travelled around the empty space, battling the unpredictable and unseeable current, searching for a way out.

The sun was death.

So, there must be sothing that could help him live.

His hope led him to travel across the empty space, far and wide, in search to find sothing or anything that could help.

That was when he noticed another blood blob, floating in the empty sea of darkness, illuminated by the red sun’s light.

The mont he laid eyes on it, he felt a sense of closeness. Not the deceptive kind he had for the sun, but sothing deeper. It was a wonderful feeling, as if he were eting a part of himself.

However, this blob didn’t have consciousness. It couldn’t move like Oliver could, nor could it avoid him.

Maybe that lack of consciousness was the reason why it could stand still, unaffected by the sun or the currents in space.

After what seed like an eternity, Oliver finally built up the courage to move closer to it and touch it.

The mont his blob ca into contact with the other blob, they lded together in a fancy display of attraction, like two planets made entirely of fluid colliding and twisting, until they joined into a single being.

The transformation ended with his consciousness flaring up and his mind thrust towards a bright tunnel.

*Swish*

His mind lost all sense and was swallowed or implanted into sothing else. Finally, after waiting for a few seconds, he felt a periodic thumping sound.

A heartbeat so imperceptibly weak.

It was his heartbeat.

He was alive.

No, he returned to being alive.

Then, senses one after another returned to his body.

First was touch. The sense of touch made it possible for him to feel his body pressing against sothing.

Gravity existed.

Then ca the feeling of taste. Imdiately, he sensed the blood flowing around him.

Once he realised that he had a body and could feel, he connected his mind to the blood sac.

As expected, he was back in the real world. The blood in the blood sac was being slowly drained as his body grew stronger.

Imdiately, he released a torrent of blood to cover his entire being and more.

The flow of blood accelerated the process.

Within a few seconds, his senses of sight, sll, and hearing ca to him.

Oliver felt his body rapidly grow the mont he opened his eyes. From a toddler, he grew to the size of his forr body.

He was thrilled when he was revived for the first ti.

However, his happiness was short-lived when he realised that he was in a lab. Scientists of all kinds wearing lab coats were staring at him in panic as he stood there naked.

This was the ti before Oliver t his friends or fully grasped the revival ability. It was the ti when he was hunting down the minions of Indra, who had played a part in his family’s death.

After the unfortunate demise at the enemy’s hands, he was revived in a forensic lab that took his blood sample for investigation.

After terrifying the forensic scientist, he escaped from the lab while covering his body in blood.

The sequence of events was still fresh in Oliver’s mind. His blob body floating inside the empty space turned to look at the sun once more. This ti, he had the conviction not to be ensnared in its ntal attack.

’Sunny boy, it’s nice to et you.’ He said and turned around to search for other blood blobs.

From what Oliver understood about his revive ability, the sun was situated in the location where his body had died.

The other blood blobs were pieces of himself that were scattered around the world. For example, samples of his blood, the tiniest viable piece, would show up in the dark empty space as a nucleus that could start the formation of his new body.

’Where is it?’

Oliver moved closer to the sun and looked around.

After a few minutes, he noticed a blob of blood floating stationary too close to the sun.

’That’s my corpse.’ Oliver judged.

There was no exact way to find what the blob was. When Oliver was in the dark world, he was incapable of sensing anything outside. The ’corpse’ was a guess.

’The corpse is in an underground sewer, contaminated by god knows what horrifying virus or bacteria. Nothing good would co out of reviving from that.’ Oliver said in his mind.

Then he moved a little further away from the red sun.

The light dimd, but he still noticed another blood blob. Unlike the rest, it was moving against the current of the space.

’Achara is alive,’ Oliver said with a smile.

She had woken up and was moving towards the red sun. Which ant she was walking towards the location where he died in real life. His blood that was injected into her body to clear the poison was showing as a moving blood blob before him.

’That’s good.’ He said in his mind and avoided her.

Then his body floated further away.

Once the two blobs, Achara and his corpse, along with the red sun, ca into perspective, he used it to orient himself and moved in a certain direction.

No, it was not towards where Stephen was. Although he could revive using the blood he injected into Stephen’s body, he didn’t want to kill the young man.

Though he was a bully, once Oliver taught him a lesson, he was willing to change for the better. There was no need to kill soone like that.

Besides that, he was supposedly an A-grade talent. He was not tested officially, but he could still be useful in the future.

Thus, his body fought against the currents and beelined towards a direction he was familiar with. Without anything to guide him, he believed in his experience and went towards the red light district.

Oliver’s destination was Grizzly’s Bar on the outer edge of the red-light district. For a situation like this, for reviving, he had made ample preparations.

Finally, a blood blob ca into his view. It looked similar to the rest. But behind it, there were many more such blobs, all stacked in a single place.

’This is it.’ Oliver said and touched the one closest to him.

In a short while, he combined with it and grew in size, thus touching the next one closest to him. Like that, a chain reaction began of him touching all the blood blobs, until they all joined to form a large one.

Imdiately, Oliver felt his consciousness being sucked into the real world. The process of revival has started.

Just as his consciousness travelled to the real world, the red darkened and finally disappeared entirely.

anwhile, a freezer in Grizzly’s Bar that looked like a new generation coffin shook. It was closed securely with a heavy-duty lock.

For the next few seconds, the freezer vibrated until blood seeped out of it.
