The flying car took to the skies and flew above the city skyline. The crimson glow of the setting sun reflected on its white exterior as it cut through the air like a knife.
The military flying cars were capable of breaking the sound barrier for a short ti. However, it would generate the sound of explosions, so Achara was deliberately flying slower not to startle the people below.
Oliver sat comfortably on his seat while flipping through his phone. He was expecting a call or a ssage from Elana to co through.
So, he waited and waited.
Still, no call ca through even after they reached the city center.
As the sunlight receded, signaling the end of the day, the flying car hovered over a landing pad.
’Was I mistaken?’ Oliver asked himself the question.
Demons were known to act ruthlessly without caring about their well-being. Hence, using the void stone to open a gate was certainly possible.
No, it was the most likely situation to occur.
’So, why are they delaying?’
’If they could take the city by surprise, it would cause the most damage.’
"What are you planning to do?" While Oliver was imrsed in his thoughts, a voice from his side asked.
The flying car had landed, and Achara and Oliver were sitting inside without moving. So, Achara broke the silence and asked.
"We have to wait and see," Oliver replied.
"I thought you were here to find the demons."
"I am."
Oliver didn’t explain anything properly before he asked her to co to the city center. Thus, Achara was on the edge.
"My team is near the north, following the trails of the demon. They were using the City’s security caras to track them, but they disappeared a few minutes ago."
"Oh." Oliver fiddled with his phone and gave a disinterested answer.
If the demons were in the city, they would be caught because their identity had been leaked.
Oliver’s concern was not the demons, but what they could do with the void stones.
"Oliver?" Achara slightly raised her voice.
"Wait a minute." Oliver suddenly stopped what he was doing and brought his phone closer.
The bright LED screen of his phone shone as he carefully read the ssage that had just co.
"Market Street, Fish section. A small anomaly was detected. The situation is not similar to a gate break. But the anomaly is gradually strengthening."
The ssage was short and from an unknown number.
"Found them!" Oliver exclaid.
Elena did her job and quickly found the anomaly.
When a new gate opens, it would create a strong electromagnetic interference.
It would be easily detected by the system, and the warning would be broadcast across the city.
But this ti, the demons were slowly injecting the mana into the void stones to break them. The anomaly was not strong enough for the safety systems in the city to activate.
Still, Elena, who was searching for it, could find it.
*Sigh*
Oliver sighed in relief when he found the location.
"What?" Achara asked, confused.
The military, SMB, and the city law enforcent agencies were working together, and yet they couldn’t find them.
So, how can he?
"How? When?" She spoke two more words.
"With the help of a friend. We just detected their location."
"Can you describe how?" Achara was not letting him leave without further explanation.
Oliver wanted to jump out of the car and go to the location because it was close by. But he cald himself down and spoke, realising that he needed her help.
"We were doing a blanket search. But an electromagnetic anomaly caught our eyes."
"What does it..."
"It was similar to a gate break signature."
"How can a gate break happen near the permanent gate?" Achara was confused.
When there is a permanent gate, the mana will flow through it instead of creating other pathways.
So, usually, the closer they are to the permanent gate, the less chance a gate would open.
And a gate couldn’t open just one or two kilotres away from the permanent gate.
The real estate prices near the permanent gates are sky high due to the exact sa reason.
"Void stones are related to gates," Oliver said, and opened the door of the flying car.
The door opened outwards like a wing and curled up.
Oliver, without wasting a second, jumped out of the car.
The demons were nearby and were opening the gate, he had no ti to waste.
"Follow ," Oliver said and ran towards the edge of the building.
"What are you doing?" Achara scread.
"They are near the fish market. We have to get there fast." He was in a hurry because he knew what was about to happen.
His movents were quick and fearless as he jumped off the hundred-story-high building.
Achara panicked and followed him.
By the ti she reached the edge of the building, she saw webbing forms in between Oliver’s arms and feet, just like that of a flying squirrel, made entirely of blood.
Oliver was using it like a glider suit to glide towards the west.
The blood webbing and elongated blood tails were being used in conjunction to perfectly control his direction and speed.
For a second, Achara thought he was a professional skydiver.
’What is wrong with this kid?’
She asked, then breathed a sigh of relief and jumped down.
Achara’s ability was water manipulation. It was similar to Oliver’s blood manipulation and could help her perform similar moves.
However, she chose not to do that.
Instead, she created a water layer under her feet to slide down the building quickly.
While Oliver covered hundreds of ters with his glider, she slid down the building and chased after him.
Despite the initial distance between them, she quickly caught up to him using her A-rank physical and speed enhancent.
anwhile, Oliver landed about five hundred ters away from the building, on top of a parking area. His sudden appearance surprised many as they promptly moved away from him.
The blood tentacles that cushioned his fall seed similar to the ability that was shown in the news.
Everyone was panicking.
Oliver was not bothered by it at all.
The mont he landed, he flipped open his phone to orient himself.
Although there was no GPS on the second Earth, he could use it fine on Earth.
When he glanced at the map, he realised that he had about six hundred ters more to go.
By that ti, Achara was just behind him.
Oliver imdiately looked towards the street and ran.
With his speed, it would only take him a minute to reach his destination.
He converted blood to mana and dashed as fast as he could.

"Is this the place?" Achara asked Oliver who finally stopped.
"Yes." Oliver nodded.
They were standing directly in the middle of a large plaza.
There were all kinds of small shops surrounding them.
