’Always take the initiative.’

’Be it grabbing freshly cooked pancakes or destroying your enemy.’

’Always take initiative.’

’Or else, you will be like a duckweed, floating without control on the river of life.’

Oliver said and grabbed a pancake. He was a little quicker than his brother, so he turned around and smirked.

Arin glared back. He was confused by the actions of his brother. Although Oliver proved his identity, it confused him even more. His brother’s personality had completely changed after returning from military training.

’Maybe he hit puberty a little late.’

He thought and leaned back onto the chair.

"Ollie, what’s your plan for the future?" Oliver’s mother, Maya, asked while flipping the pancake.

"I don’t know. Let think about it." Oliver replied.

Eighteen-year-olds with superhuman abilities typically attend specialized universities, often national institutions affiliated with the military or Hero Union, to develop their powers. However, the acceptance requirents for these universities were very stringent.

From his mother’s perspective, Oliver’s ability was a weak one. He might not get into a national university even if he wanted to. So, she asked to know whether he was still interested in being a hero or even a hunter.

Just like all children born in this day and age, there was a ti when Oliver dread of becoming a hero. But was that dream still alive?

"Are you going to register for Hero Union or Hunter Association?" She asked again.

Maya felt like Oliver was avoiding her question, so she wanted to take a roundabout way to get information from him.

"Both. I would like to work as a hero and a hunter." Oliver replied vaguely.

"But..." Arin spoke up and imdiately shut up. The one who showed the greatest reaction was Arin. He was worried. But when he thought about yesterday, he thought it was unnecessary.

His brother was strong. Why should he be worried about him?

anwhile, Maya flipped the pancake again, silently.

"It might not be easy to get into a hero university." She said while placing a freshly baked pancake onto Arin’s plate.

"Yes, that’s right. So, I have no plan on attending a hero university." Oliver nodded and replied.

Going to a university was a waste of ti, considering what he could have achieved with that ti.

"Hmm?" Maya looked at him doubtfully.

If you are not going to university, what are you going to do? Anyone could read the question right from her face.

"I plan to work for the military for a while."

"Military?"

"Yes, I kind of received a recruitnt offer. But I rejected it because I had so things to do before accepting it." Oliver said while scratching his head.

"Why?" Arin scread from the side.

"My ability has evolved. And they find it desirable. So, I can join when I want to."

"Are you for real?" Arin couldn’t believe it.

Special recruitnt to the military would only happen when the military determines the person’s potential to be high.

His brother’s potential was high?

Arin couldn’t believe it.

A similar thought was ringing inside Maya’s head, too.

"Yes, the quantity of blood I can store and control increased drastically during military training," Oliver added.

"Oh!" Maya was surprised but, at the sa ti, a little concerned.

Being a hero was a dangerous job. Being a hunter was even more dangerous since they had to explore the second Earth frequently. But among all dangerous jobs, being in the military tops them all. Because everyone in the military is expected to do both the jobs of a hunter and a hero while they safeguard the country from external enemies.

It was a difficult job. So, most talented individuals opted for either a hero or hunter career.

But that’s the case for the most talented. The military was a good place for the less talented to gain experience and grow. And due to the hefty tax money everyone pays, the pay for military personnel was great.

Was money the reason Oliver chose the military?

’No, it can’t be.’ Maya thought.

She was still having a difficult ti comprehending the situation.

"So, you are planning to join the military?" She asked again.

"Yes, after a while."

"Hmm..." She nodded.

It was a decision Oliver had to make himself. She didn’t think it was right to interfere in that.

anwhile, Oliver was praying in his mind that she would buy it. Truth be told, everything he told about joining the military was a lie. A simple excuse to buy him more ti.

In fact, the last thing he wanted to do was join the military.

The only reason he ntioned joining the military was that it was a half-truth. While he had no actual interest in enlisting, the headmaster had indeed attempted to recruit him, a fact he exploited to gain more free ti.

"I won’t be going anyti soon." He added.

"Hm." Maya nodded.

After that conversation, Oliver went back to his room and switched on his computer. The computer was a couple of years old. It could barely run the newest ch sims at low quality. But that doesn’t matter because he didn’t have a VR headset.

The best he could use that machine for was watching videos, which he used to do a lot, and searching the internet.

Once the screen lit up, Oliver tried his best to rember his password and typed it in.

The desktop background was the image of a giant robot. It was the latest model of ch that Trinity Tech had developed during this ti.

’Ah. Brings back mories. How many did I smash in my past life?’ He thought, looking at the tal tin can.

For the average superhuman, chs might be an unbeatable foe, but everyone who was B-rank and above could easily break one.

chs boasted a significant advantage in their extensive arsenal, ideal for engaging mana beasts, and their ease of operation for low-ranked superhumans. Conversely, they proved ineffective against superhuman opponents.

Oliver, as a weak kid, liked chs because it was the only way for him to participate in a battle.

Now, on the other hand, he didn’t care much about the chs or their versions.
