"The Vendetta"
In Orario, magic, especially wide-area annihilation magic, is undeniably a decisive force.
Riveria’s, 〈Nine Hell〉, full-power spell proved this; the monsters that had overwheld the Loki Familia’s elites were instantly frozen.
However, Drake remained vigilant, shouting, "Careful, a big one’s coming!"
After the recent events, everyone trusted Drake’s ability to sense the new species monsters and imdiately beca alert.
Within seconds, everyone felt a tremor in the ground.
With a loud crash, a massive creature erged.
The creature was also a carnivorous plant, but over ten tis larger. Compared to the previous ones, the earlier plants were as thin as chopsticks.
Most terrifyingly, as the giant plant appeared, nurous ordinary carnivorous plants and several worm monsters erged from the ground.
Strangely, these monsters didn’t attack but surrounded the adventurers.
The new species, bred by the Fallen Sprite’s power, and the Dungeon’s ordinary monsters shared the sa attitude towards adventurers: pure malice.
Their restraint was unusual.
Drake looked at Finn, who had retreated; he, too, looked perplexed.
Riveria suddenly said, "Everyone, look, is that... an adventurer?"
Everyone looked; a figure had appeared beneath the giant plant.
The person was shirtless, revealing a muscular torso. A ram skull mask covered their face, obscuring their features, only revealing pale hair.
"An adventurer?" Finn bit his thumb, his expression grim.
Finn had already dismissed the possibility of a regular adventurer.
This was the deep level; no adventurer would wander here alone. Finn only knew one person capable of such a feat: the Strong One.
Furthermore, the person was consorting with monsters, clearly commanding the newly spawned monsters.
Most terrifyingly, these monsters completely obeyed the individual.
Even Orario’s best beast tars couldn’t perfectly ta monsters; they could only issue simple commands. This was an impossible number to control.
Finn loudly asked, "Who are you?"
The person ignored Finn, scanning the adventurers. Their gaze finally settled on Ais.
Locking onto their target, they said, "Are you kidding ? She can’t be Aria!"
Drake sensed Ais’s expression change the mont the masked man uttered that na.
"Tempest!"
Before anyone reacted, Ais activated Ariel and charged.
But the masked man remained motionless, seemingly unconcerned by the attack of Ais, Orario’s top adventurer, 〈Sword Princess〉.
Ais failed to approach; nurous carnivorous plants blocked her path, repelling her.
"You... how did you know that na?!"
Ais was far from her usual indifferent self; even Finn and the others had never seen her so agitated.
The masked man looked up, his tone dismissive. "Forget it. Though I don’t believe you’re Aria, even if she wants you, I’ll take you back!"
Before he could finish, raging flas filled his vision.
Finn’s mouth gaped open, surprised to see Drake wielding a magic sword.
Finn hadn’t expected Drake to attack without warning; he looked at Drake, seeking an explanation.
Drake dropped the shattered magic sword. "This person, though human in appearance, is now one with the monsters!"
Everyone looked at Drake with disbelief.
Drake didn’t mind, simply gesturing with his chin. "If you don’t believe , see for yourselves!"
Everyone looked at the masked man’s position; the flas dissipated, revealing the scene.
Monster ashes floated in the air; only the giant plant remained, but only its shattered remains; charred fragnts were falling.
With a boom, the giant plant’s remains turned into black mist, dropping a large, dark green magic stone.
The masked man’s damaged body was revealed.
Half his body was burned, revealing charred bones.
But everyone noticed the glowing magic stone in his chest. Then, his body began to rapidly heal; even missing limbs regenerated.
Ignoring the magic stone, the rapid healing alone wasn’t sothing an adventurer could possess.
"Too bad; you almost killed ! But a body blessed by her... won’t be hard by a little fire."
The masked man was relieved; the giant plant had protected him from most of the magic sword’s damage; otherwise, he would have been killed.
As he spoke, the burned ram skull mask shattered and fell off.
Riveria exclaid, "That face...? You’re the Vendetta? Impossible; you were declared dead six years ago!"
The na "Vendetta" was fading from Orario’s mory; only heroes and their companions’ nas are rembered.
But for veteran adventurers like Finn, the na and the tragedy it brought to Orario were unforgettable.
〈Vendetta〉, Olivas Act, a mber of the Dark Faction, was declared dead at Level 3 six years ago.
A Level 3 Dark Faction mber being rembered by Riveria was significant; he was the mastermind behind the "Nightmare of the 27th Floor" six years ago.
Six years ago, the Dark Faction spread rumors of monster anomalies on the 27th floor, drawing many Familia’s elite mbers there.
Then, the Dark Faction, using themselves as bait, triggered a massive monster surge.
Many elite adventurers died; only Filvis Challia from the Dionysus Familia is known to have survived.
The Vendetta, as the mastermind, was also supposedly killed by the monsters... the Guild concluded this, finding only his lower half.
But a whole Vendetta stood before them. And that abnormal self-healing ability... had he, as Drake said, beco a monster?
But how could a human beco a monster? Everyone was even more confused.
Despite their confusion, so acted quickly.
Drake’s magic sword blast, while failing to kill the Vendetta, eliminated the surrounding monsters.
Ais wouldn’t miss this opportunity; she reactivated Ariel and charged.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Ais’s Despair Sword was blocked by the Vendetta’s arm. Ignoring his durable body, capable of withstanding top-tier equipnt, his reaction speed alone was terrifying.
The others wouldn’t let Ais fight alone, especially since the Vendetta targeted her.
"Damn it, I’ll have to lecture her later!"
Finn sighed; his junior mbers had charged; what could he do? He had to support them.
Everyone joined the fight; Finn and Gareth intercepted the monsters trying to rescue the Vendetta, while Bete and the Amazonian sisters supported Ais in attacking the Vendetta.
Drake maintained his persona, wielding his magic sword, ready to assist.
The Fallen Sprite could sense Ais’s wind magic, originating from Aria, the Great Wind Sprite, as ntioned in the original story. The Vendetta’s appearance wasn’t surprising.
But his continued presence and lack of retreat were strange; where did the Vendetta get the confidence to abduct Ais from the Loki Familia’s elites?
Drake grew wary; if things went south, he’d have to reveal his true abilities.
