Chapter 172: SFDI: Chapter 172
"Dragon’s Pot and the Assault"
The fortieth floor of the Dungeon was as large as all of Orario; the vastness of the fifty-second floor was unimaginable.
But the greatest danger wasn’t the size of this floor, nor even on the fifty-second floor itself, but lower down.
On the fifty-eighth floor resided bipedal, crimson dragons—officially called "Cannon Dragons"—capable of launching floor-ignoring bombardnts.
These bombardnts could pierce six floors, reaching the fifty-second, with devastating power.
Here, adventurers could be struck at any mont.
Even if they dodged the bombardnt, they might fall into the resulting crater.
Of course, Level 5 elites venturing into the deep levels, even if falling to the fifty-eighth floor, possessed the physical strength to survive the fall.
However, the area between the fifty-second and fifty-eighth floors was also inhabited by nurous bipedal wyverns, which would beco a nightmare for anyone who fell.
This seven-floor area was known as the Dragon’s Pot.
"Cannon Dragon bombardnt; retreat!"
Everyone in the squad, including the deceptively powerful Drake, were elites; they imdiately sensed the anomaly and dodged.
With a deafening roar, the ground shattered, a five-to-six-ter-wide hole appearing before them.
The hole was bottomless, revealing glowing magma; the bombardnt had lted the floor.
Dragon roars echoed from within, chilling the adventurers.
A rushing sound announced the arrival of several dark shadows from the hole.
"Bipedal wyverns; engage!"
The bipedal wyverns looked exactly like those in Drake’s previous world’s fantasy novels: dragon bodies with bat-like wings.
These wings gave them incredible flight speed.
However, they were facing Orario’s top-tier adventurers.
Without Finn’s command, everyone acted.
"Tempest!"
Ais chanted a short incantation, erald-green air currents swirling around her body and slender sword.
Enhanced by the "Ariel" spell, Ais instantly closed the distance to a wyvern, piercing its chest.
The wyvern was instantly obliterated, leaving behind a magic stone and several materials.
The werewolf youth followed. In mid-air, Bete raised his leg; his tallic boots reflected silver light.
The Frostveit boots, crafted by Tsubaki, absorbed magical energy to enhance attacks.
Unlike Drake, who cleverly used Fal’s magic to make his equipnt absorb fire, Tsubaki used pure forging skill to make these boots absorb all attributes of magic.
Truly, Tsubaki was Orario’s top blacksmith, a forger approaching divine skill!
Though not currently absorbing magic, Bete’s inherent strength was terrifying.
"Die, you vermin!"
Bete kicked a wyvern’s head, exploding it.
anwhile, Tiona swung her large double-bladed sword, cleaving a wyvern in two. Tione used her scimitars to sever another wyvern’s head.
Six wyverns had attacked; only one remained.
Gareth, stood before it. The dwarf possessed the highest Strength and Endurance stats in the Dungeon; a simple swing of his battleaxe reduced the wyvern to black mist.
Drake took on the support role, collecting the magic stones and materials.
Wyvern wing mbranes, scales, and fangs were valuable materials; none could be wasted.
After Drake secured the spoils, Finn ordered them to advance.
They reached the fifty-third floor and encountered another Cannon Dragon bombardnt, but again, suffered no losses.
They reached the fifty-fourth floor, and then, the unexpected happened.
From the mont they entered the fifty-fourth floor, Drake felt Fal growing restless; it sensed the Fallen Sprite’s foul energy again.
Seeing Drake stop, Finn asked, "What’s wrong? What happened?"
Drake nodded. "Those new species monsters have appeared again; this ti, they’re..."
Receiving Fal’s report, Drake shouted, "Below! Everyone be careful; sothing’s under our feet!"
As Drake finished speaking, a green shadow erged from the ground.
"What is that? A snake?" Tiona asked, approaching.
It was understandable; the monster resembled a snake.
It had a long body and scales.
"Whatever trash it is, let’s kill it!"
Bete said, kicking the monster away.
Bete looked surprised; his kick, powerful enough to obliterate a wyvern, only sent this monster flying.
"Useless werewolf, let
handle it!"
Tiona shouted, her large double-bladed Urga spinning like a windmill, severing the monster in two.
Seeing the murky green magic stone, Finn’s expression turned serious.
Tiona landed, triumphantly looking at the disgruntled Bete.
But the battle wasn’t over; the ground cracked repeatedly; over a dozen similar monsters erged.
Finn held his golden spear. "How many of these things are there?!"
Drake pointed at the ground, smiling wryly. "They’re everywhere under our feet."
Finn paused, then said, "Riveria, it seems we’ll need your magic. Drake, prepare your magic swords; be ready to support."
Riveria and Drake nodded simultaneously. Drake drew his magic sword, and Riveria began chanting a long spell.
"Ons of the end, the white snow. At the hour of twilight..."
As Riveria chanted, the others engaged the monsters. They discovered the monsters weren’t snakes.
The top of two monsters suddenly opened, like blooming flowers.
But instead of delicate petals, they revealed a toothy maw.
The monsters were carnivorous plants!
"Eww~! So disgusting!"
Tiona said with disgust, but her movents were swift; she severed two of the plants.
Ais was faster; her wind-enhanced blade pierced the plants, obliterating them.
She noticed the plants moving away from her.
"There... Riveria!"
All the plants were moving towards Riveria.
Finn pierced a plant with his spear, frowning. "These monsters sense magic; stop them; don’t let them interfere with Riveria’s spell!"
Even at Riveria’s level, she could chant, dodge, and cast spells simultaneously.
But protecting the mage was the vanguard’s duty; the others wouldn’t allow the monsters to succeed.
Gareth stepped forward, crushing the ground, raising his massive battleaxe, and bringing it down.
Crack... crack... BOOM!
The ground groaned under the blow; cracks spread; the ground exploded. The nearby plants were shattered.
Simultaneously, Riveria completed her spell.
"Blowing snow, thrice winter—I am Arve, ecstatic Fimbulwinter!"
Those familiar with Riveria’s magic had already moved; three freezing waves spread, instantly turning the area before Riveria into an icy wasteland.
The plants were frozen; Drake sensed their life being extinguished upon being frozen.
This was the wide-area annihilation magic of Riveria,— Orario’s strongest mage.
