The girl didn’t expect that soone like Gu Yao, who usually kept to herself and could go a whole day without opening her mouth if left alone, would actually talk back to her.
And not only did she talk back, she did it so sharply that it caught everyone off guard, not just the girl.
Anyone who knew Gu Yao for a day or two might have thought she was a cold, lofty goddess, but after two weeks, her indifference to everything beca apparent. Even if soone deliberately knocked her things over, she’d quietly pick them up without saying a word.
That made her classmates slowly change their view, thinking she wasn’t cold, just timid.
Now they were unsure again.
"What, what do you an by that?!"
"What you ant by your words is what I ant by mine," Gu Yao replied in the sa indifferent tone.
"Are you daring to say my private life is improper?!"
"You admitted it yourself."
"You..." The girl was about to stand up and start a verbal fight with Gu Yao when a girl next to her imdiately pulled her back and gave her a look.
"Alright, we’re all classmates here, let’s not act like enemies." Cheng Xia’s expression wasn’t very pleasant.
"Exactly, exactly, let’s just drop it. Hey, let’s sing, sing." A boy pitched in to ease the atmosphere. Saying that, he stood up to select so songs and pulled a couple more classmates along to create a better vibe.
"Gu Yao, are you...okay?" Cheng Xia looked at Gu Yao, who had gone back to her phone, feeling a bit guilty.
After all, she had invited her so enthusiastically, but the others weren’t being too friendly with her.
"I’m fine." Gu Yao didn’t even lift her head, continuing to fiddle with her phone, her fingers scrolling incessantly, which made Cheng Xia curious.
Peeking at her phone, he found her reading so military reports.
"Do you like soldiers?"
Gu Yao’s scrolling fingers paused, stopped for two seconds, then she exited the page entirely and shut off her phone.
"I don’t like them."
"..." Cheng Xia had wanted to say he liked soldiers too, hoping to find so common ground, but didn’t expect Gu Yao, who had been reading about it, to say she didn’t like them.
Was she deliberately refusing him, knowing he’d latch onto that topic?
Cheng Xia felt a bit disheartened.
Given his background, with a family business worth tens of millions, he had always gotten whatever he wanted and had many people aiming to please him. His pride and standards were naturally higher than others, yet he kept facing setbacks with Gu Yao.
Looking at the indifferent Gu Yao next to him, Cheng Xia felt quite uncomfortable inside.
Cheng Xia brooded for a while, then turned his head to see that Gu Yao, who earlier claid she wouldn’t drink, was now drinking.
Cheng Xia opened his mouth to say sothing, but nothing ca out.
Seeing Gu Yao drink a bit too fervently, he had no intention of stopping her.
He clenched his fist slightly, feeling a surge of excitent rise within him, and his gaze towards Gu Yao grew increasingly heated.
He recalled his uncle’s words from earlier.
Tonight, he had to seize this opportunity well.
However, his hopes were dashed, as Gu Yao stopped after two drinks, as if she had only been drinking to quench her thirst.
"Shall I join you for a drink?" Cheng Xia picked up the drink in front of him, and just as he was about to pour for Gu Yao, she stood up.
"I have sothing to do, you all have fun."
"Hey, are you, are you leaving?" Cheng Xia imdiately stood up when he heard, "We haven’t even had cake yet."
"You guys enjoy it, I’m leaving."
"Can’t you stay a bit longer?"
