This person wasn’t as ignorant as the rest of the Universe was at this ti. They understood exactly what Jamie’s Hybrid powers ant, and for a reason Jamie would not like to hear.
"You’ve been a Hybrid for what? 4 or 5 years now?
Did you know that during that ti, 1104 soldiers were created to try to kill you?"
Shale questioned as he took a step towards Jamie, before stopping and taking a step back.
"It may have been 4 or 5 years for you, but in that Dinsion where Ti moves faster, it was nearly 50 years."
The Anti-Hybrid Soldier revealed this piece of vital information without thinking too much about it. He was gonna be killing Jamie soon anyway.
"I like to talk a lot, you see. That’s why I’m telling you all these things."
Shale crouched to et Jamie’s eye level, placing a palm on his chin as he narrated.
"My first mory was of awakening inside so sort of glass bottle with strange greenish liquids filling it up.
I was a literal dwarf in a flask. Seeing people move their mouths to talk around every day filled with so much envy. My first desire was to talk just like them, but as I was inside a giant test tube...I couldn’t.
When I was finally freed from that thing after nine? Or maybe ten years. Anyway, when I was finally freed, the first thing I did was try to force my mouth to open so I could mimic the sounds that I’d been hearing all my life.
I’ve loved talking since then.
Those mad guys in lab coats always tried to shut up, but since Boss didn’t really mind, they couldn’t do anything directly."
As he spent ti talking, whatever it was that he had infused into Jamie’s body with that stab of his sword was spreading through the Hybrid’s body, and Jamie’s attempts to force it out with his energy were failing.
"Damn, you look horrible."
He laughed as he got to his feet and stretched his body for a second before continuing with his tirade while he waited for the effects of his powers to reach the level where he could continue the ’battle’.
"Did you know that Boss used to work with the Witch of Chaos? He once worked with her for many years, and naturally, he got to know many things about her Hybrid project.
So, when he heard you’d beco immortal due to that sa project, he quickly implented the knowledge he retained from Angela to try and create an Anti-Hybrid."
Shale’s words revealed a hint of the identity of the person who wanted Jamie dead. His Boss who was soone Angela had been close enough with to share a lot of details on her goals.
"Since the Witch of Chaos added Vampire powers to make you a Vampire-Werewolf Hybrid, Boss did the sa...just with ’Slayers’ instead."
Slayer Races were as their nas implied. They were Races born to ’Slay’ other races.
A simple example would be a Vampire and a Vampireslayer. Not a being possessing the ’title’ of ’Vampire Slayer’, but one whose race was ’Vampireslayer.
The special characteristics of a Vampireslayer’s racial factors granted them abilities that were inherently advantageous over beings who had Vampire Racial factors.
In a way, they had ’Anti-Vampire Factors’.
All their attacks against Vampires were stronger than normal, they took less damage against Vampires, and if they were strong enough, their re presence could reduce the Existence Realms of their target Vampires!
Anything they did ’Against’ Vampires was amplified and anything vampires did ’Against’ them was greatly reduced in efficiency.
This logic applied to all slayer races, including, Humans, Elves, Dwarves and many more.
These races were created out of necessity by the Cosmos to reduce the population of the target races, but that wasn’t important now.
What was important was the fact that Shale was a mixed breed between a Vampireslayer and a Wolfslayer.
"Granted, Boss didn’t use the sa thod the Witch of Chaos used on you. He used the more...natural thod.
He found slayers from the two necessary races and made them fuck a lot. However, the difficulty of conceiving a child born between a Vampireslayer and a Wolfslayer is even higher than that of Vampires and Werewolves.
It was as if the Universe itself didn’t want the combination of two Slayer Races.
Even if they were successful in conceiving, the child mortality rate was fricking high! 0.5% chance of 1 surviving in every 100? Even Vampires and Wolves have at least a 3% chance!"
Shale grumbled about the unfairness of the Universe as he stomped his foot on the ground rapidly, acting like a child throwing a tantrum.
"167 Attempts Via natural birth. 123 via C-Section. 48 via external cultivation. 338 attempts and 100 successes.
But when it ca to giving them the power to kill you, those 100 survivors quickly beca 1."
The man’s expression changed to one of sadness as he thought of the 99 others who had perished in the experints ant to give them powers to kill Jamie.
But compared to Angela’s thousands of failures in trying to create a Hybrid, 99 was a number not worth ntioning.
Jamie just looked at the man in silence, transforming his nails into claws and piercing them into his chest to pour ether through them.
Before becoming a Hybrid and not needing to ever use Healing Magic, Jamie had used ether to handle his wounds whenever he beca injured. He didn’t lose his ability to manipulate it, but he hadn’t used it in years either.
Now, he was attempting to use that energy to force out the thing in his body. It was even better as Shale was talking a lot, giving him ti for this.
Moreover, Jamie had gained an idea of what the man had hit him with and why he was almost half-paralysed like Miranda had been when she was hit with wolfsbane earlier.
’Slayer Race Factors...I’m sure of it.’
Vampireslayer powers alone did nothing to Jamie. Wolfslayer powers alone were just as useless.
But Shale was the result of going against the laws of the Universe to combine the two into one, succeeding in creating the kind of power that could work on Jamie...temporarily.
Shale’s ability wasn’t sothing that could permanently weaken Jamie’s Hybrid nature; no such thing existed. But he could negate Jamie’s immortality for enough ti to be able to use his Unique Skill and guarantee the Hybrid’s death.
He was confident, and that’s part of why he could talk a lot without issue.
"...your Boss...must be a crazy person..."
Jamie spat those words out and hearing this, Shale stared at him blankly for a second, as if surprised that Jamie had the energy to speak. Then, he snapped back to his senses and shrugged his shoulders, nodding to agree with Jamie.
"Yeah. He’s pretty crazy.
I think he’s even more loco than the Witch of Chaos."
Shale chuckled a bit as he said this, his mind rembering the video of his Boss’s mories that he was shown by the man himself.
At that ti, he had the sa question Jamie had in his mind right now and why the Hybrid had said the man was crazy.
If his Boss wanted Jamie dead because he was a Void Manipulator, then was he going to go ahead and kill off every other Void Manipulator in the Universe?
The Zanerth Universe was a big place with quintillions of planets inside it. There was no way Jamie was the only Void Manipulator, and he was certainly not the strongest.
There existed Void Manipulators who were Race Kings; those guys sounded more like a threat than the current Transcendent Jamie.
Shale, being the talkative he was had voiced out this question to his Boss despite everyone else’s shock, and Shale’s Boss simply showed him a projection of his mories in response.
A mory of a conversation that the Boss had with Angela over a decade ago. The reason why he was so fixated on Jamie.
◇ ◇ ◇
On a sunny Saturday afternoon, the golden light stread through the large windows of a quaint, charming restaurant.
The air was filled with the soft murmur of patrons enjoying their als and the gentle clinking of cutlery against porcelain. At a small, elegantly set table near the window, two beings sat opposite each other with teacups on the table between them.
At one end of the table sat a man, his face obscured by a mask that covered everything but his left eye, which glowed with a piercing crimson hue. His black hair, ticulously styled, frad the mask, and his intense gaze was focused entirely on the woman sitting across from him.
Opposite him, was a woman who exuded an intellectual allure, with a ssy ponytail on her head, and her eyes, srizing and ever-changing in colour, seed to dance with every flicker of light.
She wore a pair of half-frad glasses that sat delicately on her nose, enhancing her scholarly aura. But unlike the man opposite her, his woman’s full focus was on the tea she stirred, watching intently as the sugar particles slowly dissolved into the amber liquid.
"...Angela."
"Hold on, the last sugar particle hasn’t dissolved yet."
Angela gave such a reply without lifting her eyes from the swirling tea, and the man’s brows furrowed behind his mask.
Nevertheless, he restrained himself and didn’t get annoyed at her, well aware of Angela’s eccentricity.
They were part of her charm, albeit occasionally exasperating.
He knew better than to rush her, especially now, when he needed her help more than ever.
Nearly 30 seconds later, Angela finally raised her gaze from the tea and looked up at the masked man.
"Yeah, so what were you saying again?"
"..."
The man couldn’t believe she was really asking him to repeat himself...for the third ti! However, he noticed the corners of her lips curl up and instantly figured she was ssing with him.
"It’s not funny, Angela."
"Oh, it is. Both your reactions and your offer."
Angela responded and took a sip of her tea, before glancing out the window from where she could see another building with an outdoor restaurant on its top floor.
Patrons and waiters passed by their table, ignoring the two like they weren’t even there. This was natural, as no one on this planet was capable of sensing them.
Despite being physically present, they were isolated in a section of space separate from the physical third-dinsional space.
"So? What’s your answer?"
"My answer, huh? You should know what it is already, shouldn’t you?"
"..."
The masked man went silent in the face of Angela’s questioning reply. He understood what she ant by this.
"You see, you’re one of the very few people in this Universe whose intelligence I respect, which is a good thing, especially considering the sheer number of idiots flooding the Universe."
Angela casually dissed 99% of the Universe’s population, her tone condescending as if she saw them as nothing more than lower life forms, which she did.
"Your insight helped a lot, and thanks to you, I’m now closer than ever to achieving my goal."
