"Abby, can I co in now?"

Sawyer’s soft voice jolted Abigail from her sultry thoughts. She rushed to the bed, placed the water bottle on the bedside table, and glanced toward the door.

"Yes..." she replied, trying hard to appear calm despite her nervousness, but her trembling voice betrayed her.

As Abigail watched him enter the room with his blanket, she pointed to the three-seater sofa in the corner.

"Can you fit on the sofa?" Abigail asked, concerned he might not have enough room to sleep comfortably. "Or you could sleep on the bed, and I’ll take the sofa," she offered.

Sawyer imdiately declined her suggestion and told her to sleep before he turned off the light.

Abigail remained silent, feeling anxious about sharing the room with him for the first ti. Hurriedly, she slipped under the blanket and tried to close her eyes.

...

Sawyer could hear Abigail move a few tis, but he said nothing. He didn’t want her to feel even more nervous if he spoke up now.

Like Abigail, Sawyer couldn’t even close his eyes. His mind was filled with shaless thoughts—Abigail had asked him to sleep with her.

’What a stupid move, man. You’re ruining your image...’

Sawyer couldn’t stop scolding himself in his mind.

’How could you assu she’s already accepted your heart and wants to sleep together? You are such a shaless man. Shaless!’

The following day, Abigail awakens to the noisy sound of her cell phone vibrating on the bedside table.

"Ugh! I hate that alarm sound..." her hoarse, irritated voice echoed in the room. She had forgotten to turn off her morning alarm.

Hastily, she sits up with her eyes still half-closed, grabs the phone, and switches off the alarm. She tosses the phone near her pillow, intending to go back to sleep. But when she rembers Sawyer, she turns to look at the sofa.

She is shocked to see him sitting there, looking at her with his handso smile. "Good morning, gorgeous Abby..."

Abigail freezes, montarily taken aback.

How could she have forgotten that this man was sleeping in the sa room with her?

Her lack of confidence about her hair and appearance makes her want to vanish from the room.

"Oh. Morning!" she replies before rushing to the bathroom to fix herself up. Ready to return to the capital.

They didn’t plan to stay here any longer and decided to have breakfast on the way to the capital.

After dropping Abigail off at her house, Sawyer pretends to drive away from his ho.

"Sawyer, would you mind calling when you get ho?" Abigail asked while waving goodbye.

"Sure, Abby, I will call you when I’m ho." Sawyer waved back, maintaining a smile to hide his amusent. He found driving away from his house for the second ti funny.

’God! I hope this pretending ends soon. It might be less funny the third ti, and I’m getting exhausted,’ he thought while yawning.

Soon after, as he turned left onto the road, Sawyer spotted a hidden gate. He made a detour and headed toward the employee entrance at the back of the house.

He had never known about this underground entrance until Brody inford him and gave him access to his SUV. He parked his car near the door leading into his underground parking area.

When Sawyer stepped out of the car, Brody stood beside him to greet him.

"Sir, you look like you didn’t get enough sleep! That’s unusual, if I may say, Sir. You always looked fresh whenever you got back from the cabin. Looks like sothing different happened during this cabin stay, Sir?" Brody raised an eyebrow, suspicious about what had happened to his boss at the cabin.

Why was Sawyer so tired while Abigail seed fine? A few minutes ago, Brody had seen Abigail happily greet the guard before rushing toward her house.

Ignoring Brody’s concern, Sawyer handed him his car key and walked toward the elevator that would take him to the third floor.

As Brody followed him to the elevator, he spoke again. "I saw Miss Abigail; she looked so happy when she went toward the back door."

Sawyer’s curiosity was piqued when Brody ntioned Abigail.

"She looked happy?" he asked, glancing back at Brody.

A wide smile spread across Brody’s face, pleased to see his boss finally engaging with him.

"Yes, Sir! Miss Abigail looked genuinely happy. As she approached the back door, she smiled and greeted all the guards and cleaning staff as she entered the building."

Sawyer nodded, feeling a flicker of joy at the thought of Abigail’s happiness, even though he was exhausted from the sleepless night.

How could he sleep in a room with Abigail when all he could think about was wanting to join her in bed and hug her until morning? It was impossible. Until sunrise, his mind would not find peace.

Now, even though he was incredibly sleepy, he couldn’t rest. His grandfather’s butler had been calling him since morning, and he knew he had to go. Otherwise, the old man would send his people to his beach house.

"Boss, you didn’t seem happy. Did sothing happen in the cabin?" Brody asked again as he joined Sawyer in the elevator.

"My lack of sleep and stress have nothing to do with Abby," Sawyer said, taking a deep breath before fixing his gaze on Brody. "Prepare a car. I’m going to visit the main house."

Brody was surprised that Sawyer wanted to visit his grandfather’s house. Now he understood why Sawyer’s expression contrasted with Abigail’s.

He nodded at Sawyer and returned to the underground parking lot to prepare the car.

...

Sawyer didn’t stay long at ho; he only changed clothes and made a few calls to his contacts at the beach house, where his family believed he was living.

No one in his family knew he had moved from the beach house two years ago. His family, especially his brother, often visited the beach house. Sawyer had no energy to et him and listen to his patronizing attitude and nonsense business-related stories.

After informing them of his plan to visit his grandfather’s house, he left the room quickly. Just then, a buzzing sound from his pocket made him stop.

He glanced at the screen and saw the sender was "Harvey." His hand clenched into a tight fist.
