Two months back.

"Why don’t you go take a seat old man," one of the employees at Blue lantern restaurant said, "we’ll handle the rest."

"Are you saying I’m getting too old for this?" The old man said with mock anger, "back in my day, I used to run this place all alone."

The employee chuckled as she replied, "back in your day, people were patient enough to wait for good food Grandpa."

"If people these days can’t wait, then they should just go ahead and leave," the old man said, "cooking is an art, and art is not to be rushed."

"Fine, fine, you win old man," the girl said with a smile, "I’ll go wait the tables."

She looked no older than eighteen and was usually supposed to be at school, but today was a weekend, plus her grandpa had employed her at the blue lantern restaurant as a part-ti employee and she wouldn’t miss the chance to make so cash.

The girl’s na was Julia Harper, daughter Audrey Harper and like her mother, she was quite the ball of anger, only controlled when she was around her favorite grandpa.

Her expression changed from a genuinely smiling one to a fake one as she approached the custors one at a ti.

Most were polite and didn’t dare cause a scene, so her job was going pretty well.

She ran from table to table, either taking empty plates, putting full plates or taking orders.

She did it with so much grace that one would think she had been doing it her entire eighteen years of life, which was far from the truth, since she only started a month ago, but was just a really quick learner.

Now, Julia was undeniably beautiful, especially her curly black hair tied into a ponytail and sapphire-like eyes.

So there were obviously attempts from so of the custors to gain her attention, but it was nothing that couldn’t be fixed with a tray to the head when they went too far, so she was mostly fine....well, until a certain trio walked in.

The bell above the door let out a ring as it was pushed open, letting in three people.

The first was a man with brown hair and eyes, his fra imdiately scread body builder or maybe just soone who took jyms a bit too seriously.

The second was a man that had obviously dyed his hair to bright red, making him look like so type of delinquent, but Julia wasn’t one to judge....she just silently watched them.

The last of the three looked a lot calr, between the two, he seed like the odd one out as he looked a lot calr, even the suit he had on scread high class and definitely not soone who would be seen hanging out with those two.

The third man had neatly combed black hair, that, coupled with his olive green eyes made him look handso, definitely soone that was Julia’s type.

Slap!

She clapped both hands on her cheeks to physically erase that thought.

’What the hell are you thinking?’ she scolded herself, ’you’re here to work, not have crushes on Grandpa’s custors.’

She watched them walk to an empty table, a dark frown was on the face of the buff one and they imdiately started discussing sothing, definitely not sothing good.

With a sigh, Julia erased the thoughts of a crush from her mind and then approached their table with a tray and note pad in hand.

"Welco to Blue Lantern restaurant," she greeted with a smile, "what should I get you?"

The man in suit and the other two slowly raised their head to look at her , before the one in suit gave her a smile that made her heart definitely skip a beat...or two.

"What would you recomnd," he paused, then looked at her tag before saying, "Julia?"

Julia was frozen in shock, not at the fact that she just called her na, no. It was the way he spoke.

His voice was so calm and she felt like she could listen to it forever.

"W-we h-have a couple of great options," she said with a stutter, "w-would you like to take a look through the nu?"

"Sure," the man said with a smile before adding, "by the way, I’m Leonard Smith."

"Julia," she automatically replied, before muttering, "well, you already knew that from my tag....."

Seeing how much she was having trouble speaking, Julia wisely chose to remain silent, causing Leonard to chuckle and focus back on the nu.

Julia cleared her throat and forced herself to focus, lifting her notepad and pen a little higher, pretending she was taking notes.

The red-haired man, who looked impatient, tapped his fingers on the table while the buff one simply stared at her for a short while, in a way she definitely wasn’t comfortable with before averting his eyes.

Julia had learned quickly that so custors could intimidate her without even saying a word.

"Are you ready to order?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady.

Leonard looked up from the nu, his calm gaze eting hers again. "I think I’ll have the Blue Lantern Special," he said, his voice smooth and even, "and please make it spicy."

Julia scribbled it down quickly, her fingers slightly trembling. "S-spicy Blue Lantern Special for you, sir," she said, then turned her attention to the other two.

The red-haired man scowled at her, clearly annoyed at the delay. "Uh... give whatever the chef recomnds. The spiciest thing you’ve got," he said in a tone that made it clear he wasn’t in the mood for pleasantries.

Julia nodded, writing it down, then glanced at the buff man. He intensely stared at her, almost as if assessing her.

"Steak, dium rare and... make it with extra garlic," he said after a while.

"Extra garlic... dium rare steak," Julia repeated softly, tapping her pen on her notepad.

As she turned to head toward the kitchen, she caught Leonard’s gaze again. He gave her a small, reassuring smile, and for so reason, Julia felt her cheeks heat up. ’Focus,’ she reminded herself, ’you’re here to work, not... whatever this is.’

The old man in the kitchen, her grandpa, looked up as she approached. "You alright there, Jules? You look like you have a fever," he said, placing a palm on her forehead due to her blushing cheeks.

"I’m... fine, Grandpa," she stamred, trying to steady her breathing and stepped back. "Just... three special orders coming up."

Her grandpa nodded, "Alright, then. Let’s make sure they leave happy."
