The night was silent and peaceful and a soft breeze kept blowing into the cave. Carlos stood at the entrance in silence, he had been hoping to spend so more ti with Sydney but luck had run out on him. She was eager to go ho and he didn’t have to heart to keep her away.
Maybe if he had agreed to mate with her when he was asked during the council eting, he wouldn’t hold these lingering feelings of regret. They consud him...he really regreted letting go of her. He sighed and looked up to the star filled sky.
The silence of the night was broken by an eagle cry and he looked over into the distance to see Caden flying around the vicinity. He concealed his presence and withdrew into the shadows of the night. He really didn’t want to give her to them.
"Only until tomorrow morning... for once....let be with you till tomorrow. After that...I won’t be greedy." Carlos murmured to himself and watched as Caden flew away.
Carlos walked over to the stone bed where Sydney was curled up and sleeping soundlessly. He lifted the animal skin and lay down besides her stiffly.
A source of warmth appeared by her side and Sydney scooted over subconsciously. Her hand went over Carlos’s chest and she rested her head against his sturdy warm chest. Not anticipating her to move over, Carlos flushed from head to toe and his heart thumped strongly upon the feeling of having a soft sweet slling female sleeping against him.
His sharp eyes looked down at her small happy sleeping face. Even the dark of the night couldn’t hide her beauty from him, he smiled gently. "I was enchanted to et you, Sydney." he whispered softly and drew close to her face. Planting his cool lips on her warm forehead, he lingered there for a short while then withdrew. He watched her till the sun rise and got out of bed before she woke up.

Caden was surprised to see his Carlos standing before them. "Father!" he said confused.
Carlos looked at all the small group that had spent the entire night searching. They looked fatigued and had also lost a considerable amount of weight due to having lesser als and the emotional toll the absence of their female took on them. "Don’t bother looking anymore. Follow ." he said and turned to leave.
Ash didn’t ask much and shifted into his beast form to follow. He could sll Sydney’s sweet scent on him.
Sydney who had so great rest woke up feeling extrely happy and energetic. The re thought of being hack in the city of beasts brought her great satisfaction. Rubbing the sleep away from her eyes, though slightly blurred, she made out familiar figures at the entrance of the cave.
Ash and the others had also just arrived and heaven couldn’t describe the joy of seeing a small red head poked out of the animal skin. Throughout the whole process as she woke up, they watched her.
Shawn who had been silent throughout the search sniffed, his white coloured eyes filled with tears as his emotions finally burst free. Sydney was safe and alive!!! The ambiance was sure real! The shuffling of her small body in the skin hides, her soft breath, small yawn, her stretching which caused her stiff bones to crack...this was how she woke up every morning and having not been able to feel this for the past days, he felt like he had fallen into an abyss he had no hope of returning from.
Sydney froze and focused her gaze at the cave entrance and all four of them stood their in full glory. She was in disbelief...days has gone by and she had dreamt, hoped and imagined countless tis of the ti they’d appear before her to take her ho.
Haha...I’m getting silly again!" she wiped her tears away. "I’m so excited that I’m seeing them so early in the morning? I really can’t wait to go ho!" She swung her legs out of bed and stood up.
"Sydney!" Caden was the one who called her na. She had visibly grown so small that her once chubby cheeks had sunk in. Her red hair had lost its luster and bounce, she had eye bags that looked really terrible. For males that had seen her beauty at its most, this was like a knife driven through their chests and plucking out whatever was in its way. They had failed her! Badly!!
I’m sorry..so sorry Sydney!" Caden muttered ashad. He had thought of a millions ways on how he’d act once he found her but now, she was in tatters of sha that he dared not to go to her.
Ken who was a prideful beastman hung his head low and said nothing. What could ue possibly say..what excuse did he have?!
Ash who still had so balls in him despite all walked into the room with silent steps. Like a wounded beast, he made his way to her and scooped her into his arms once she was in his vicinity. He buried his face in the crook of her neck silently and walked over to the stone bed. He sat himself down and cradled Sydney up like a baby in his embrace.
Sydney who later realised that she wasn’t dreaming spoke with a shaky voice. You finally ca!" she knew it! She knew they’d stop at nothing to find her! Tears fell from her eyes like a broken dam. You..you finally ca!! Waahhhh....I waited for you guys for so long! It was so scary to be out there! I was hungry and cold..I thought I might never get to see you again!!!" she cried so bitterly. How long had she kept this feeling at bay and not burst out and cry!
The others who had been feeling ashad of stepping in rushed into the cave when they heard her heart breaking cries. With her hands wrapped around Ash’s neck in a tight grip, she cried to the point that even Carlos who was outside to give them ti to get back together felt his chest tighten at her wail. It was so pitiful.
"I wanted to wait till you ca to finde at the cave but it was so hard! I risked it all and hoped you’d find midway..." she complained.
"Shhhhhh....we are sorry we ca late. That won’t happen ever again!" Ash comforted her. She was good at waiting, he knew that better!
"Yes Sydney. We won’t let such a thing happen again. We failed you but we won’t do so again! This is a promise!" Ken chumd in. He didn’t know what better way to comfort her.
"I tried to make fire to eat so at but the fire refused to light up! I tried to eat raw at but my stomach got upset and I started to eat fruits instead for a long ti. I had to go out and look for the fruits and he careful not to eat the poisonous ones. You have any idea how I was scared of poisoning myself to death! I even had to cover myself in mud to hide my scent! Even when I was looking for fruits and herbs, a tiger almost ate ! Many tis I thought I was going to die without ever seeing you guys again....it....let’s go ho now! I don’t want to stay here any longer!!!" Sydney complained till her voice was hoarse from crying and talking.
She got out from Ash’s embrace and looked at the others. "I missed you guys so much!!!" she now understood why females in this world needed their males by their side 24/7. This place was a harsh reality. Much harsher than back on earth. With no ans of killing ti, one’s thoughts would drown them and kill them if they weren’t regulated. But. ow that her family was here, her guard could finally be let down. Her head begun aching from all the crying and her cramps chose not better ti to attack! She groaned in pain but it was a silent groan.
Titan, in his human from found a corner and settled himself down but kept his eyes on Sydney like she’d disappear any ti.
Shawn rushed out of the room to cook for Sydney and Ken went out to hunt so good food.
"Did we bring the salt?!" Caden murmured to himself as he checked the skin bag that belonged to Sydney that they had carried along. Luckily, there was enough salt. The city of beats was a four days and nights run from this mountain but with Sydney, the days could get longer. Her supplies needed to be well stocked.
Sydney didn’t bother to get out of Ash’s hold. She had missed this pampering so much, at first, she had thought it was being lazy and troubleso but not anymore. She wanted to be pampered to death...to atleast compensate for the ti she didn’t receive such treatnt.
Titan in seeing everyone getting busy, he stood up from where he was seated and walked out of the cave. He found Shawn the blind wolf cracking rocks to form shapes. He could help. "What are you doing?!" he asked.
Shawn who didn’t expect the snake lord to co talk to him was surprised but I pay for a mont before he replied. "Utensils. Sydney needs them."
"Tell how to make them." Titan said and broke a rock from the mountain effortlessly. "Curve a dent in that stone. It should be able to fit her when she sits in to bathe." Shawn instructed and went back to making her food dishes that they hadn’t brought along and a pot that they were going to use to cook her at.
Carlos had wanted to leave but chose to stay. He took his beast form and went down the mountain to collect water. With all hands occupied, Sydney took a warm bath and changed into better clothes with her set of knickers that were brought over. She felt alot more comfortable now! Shawn who was in charge of cooking soon brought over at soup. It was fragrant and Sydney who was hungry wasn’t polite at all as she ate it with relish. Ken had also brought different fruits and Titan had tasted them for poison like it was natural for him to do so.
Sydney had already noticed Titan and she silently observed how the others behaved around him. Sje was so surprised to see how natural they were with him and wondered who he was. With such an ethereal appearance, only blind ones wouldn’t be able to notice him.
After finishing the bowl of soup, Titan walked over with black round things in his hands. He walked over to where Sydney sat and knelt on his knees. "I cooked so eggs for you. I noticed you don’t like to eat things raw." he said and sat himself down. The whole of his hand turned blue as held back the poison in his scales. He peeled the egg skin off and presented a clear white egg to her.
"Thank you." Sydney wanted to ask his na but that would turn out really awkward when he behaved like he knew her for ages. She handed skipped the formalities and took hold of the egg. It was hot! Unable to hold it for long, she put it in her bowl and turned to Caden. Can I have so salt." she asked and he gave it to her without question. Splitting it open, the bright yellow yolk broke from the egg white almost making her drool. She sprinkled the salt in and munched on the egg happily.
Titan was pleased. Extrely pleased that he flicked out his forked tongue in delight. Sydney didn’t catch on that action as she had her third egg. Having drank a bowl of hot soup, her stomach had ward up alot and her cramps had ceased.
