’Fairy bane’ Demir mused to himself after hearing everything that had happened during the banquet and the one thing that stuck to him was how his beloved almost lost her life if not for that rootless beastman, ’’How are you so sure that it was fairy bane?’’ he asked to make sure. It was sothing that he had never heard of before and he was soone that was interested in all kinds of drugs and venom. It was nerve-wracking. There was sothing in the beast world that could make even immortal beastn helpless and no one knew about that until now.
Lyra understood his confusion and worry. In the beast world, the one undisputable force was the immortal beastman but now...Now that was not the case anymore, ’’It was the sa for before I t Darya’’ She started to explain, ’’I knew nothing about fairies. The truth is, I never even believed that fairies existed much less being one myself. After learning about my origin through Darya, I practiced my powers and discovered many things. And the most important thing amongst all of that was regarding Fairy bane’’ Demir clasped her hands between his as though encouraging her to speak more. Lyra smiled at him and took a deep breath before continuing, ’’Fairy bane is the one thing that the enemies use to ambush my kind. It is only available in the fairy world and that too is heavily protected from outsiders. I don’t know how soone even brought it to the beast world in the first place...’’
’’Why would they let sothing like that exist in the first place?’’ Demir couldn’t help but ask. If it was really that dangerous, why were the ones in the fairy world even guarding it instead of ending it once and for all? It just didn’t make sense.
Lyra had a complicated look on her face upon hearing his words. The reason for that was that his question was completely valid. why would soone protect sothing that is dangerous to them instead of getting rid of it? Well, it was because the said danger was also important for their kind, ’’The fairy bane is nothing but the remains of a fairy’’ Demir had a horrified look on his face as she added, ’’To be more precise, it is the powder made out of fairy bones that can be obtained after their death. Now tell , how can one get rid of the remains of their loved one?’’
Demir was speechless. He had a hard ti processing all the new information that she said and only kept on hearing silently as she continued to talk, ’’Fairies are beings that are close to nature and that makes us want to remain close to nature even after death. Fire fairies like to end themselves by fire and Water fairies like by water but most of our kind like becoming one with soil and staying forever in the world that they lived in. However, the ones that want to trouble us, steal the bones of already dead and buried fairies and make fairy bane. They use it to ambush and weaken us before killing us with...’’
Lyra stopped talking and widened her eyes when she felt Demir’s palm against her mouth. She looked at him skeptically and heard him say, ’’Don’t say it. Never say your weakness to anyone.....not even ’’
’’But I trust you’’ She said while removing his hand from her mouth but he resolutely shook his head.
’’Sunshine, the only thing that you should keep in mind is to always put your safety before anything else. Just because you keep your weakness a secret doesn’t an that there is no trust between us. Knowing of the fairy bane is already huge enough so don’t spill any more than this, it is not necessary’’ there were many unknown things in the world that they still didn’t know. He didn’t want to take any chance when it ca to her but who was he kidding? His sunshine was one of a stubborn head.
’’But I know all of your weaknesses’’ She said while pouting her lips. It was true. She knew all about her mates’ weak points. They made sure to tell her about it almost a million tis. And their reasoning for telling her that was not clear. They only said ’Just in case’
Demir stopped himself from grinning like a fool. It was damn hard for him to maintain a straight face when she was being so adorable. In the end, he couldn’t help himself from cupping her face and pecking her pouted lips. But keeping that aside, he also had to inform her, "Not long ago most of us had our minds controlled, did you already forget about that?" he could never forget that no matter how much he tried. To even think that soone influenced not only his but also Victor and Killian’s minds, unnerved him. It was fortunate that they only had their insecurities increase. But no one was to tell what could have happend if it continued. They could have hurt each other or worse hurt their mate.
Lyra’s eyes dimd as soon as he finished speaking. How could she forget those days? Her ever-cheerful Victor beca so prickly around her and Killian threatened that he would kill Blake. And to make it worse, she also heard about Demir experiencing the sa. Just recalling it pained her. At least Victor and Killian had her with them but Demir.....He silently endured everything and she got to learn about it after he recovered.
As Lyra got lost in her thoughts, Demir noticed her mood dampen and sighed. He once again cupped her face bringing her attention back to him, "It’s not your fault, sunshine"
Lyra shook her head before burying her face in his chest, "I should have been there for you" the more she thought about it, the more guilty she felt and that made her say, "Demir lets mate" this was the only way she could find out if sothing goes wrong with him.
Demir frowned, "You don’t have to force yourself to do anything, sunshine. I can wait until you are ready"
"It’s not like I was not ready before..." she muttered. It was more like the ti didn’t seem ideal whenever she thought about mating with Demir. Either she was pregnant or was taking rest after labor or fell in danger. Now that she thought about it, she didn’t recall spending any quality ti with him. His stay in the scorpion tribe was also one of the reasons why they didn’t et each other often but her mates didn’t like having an unmated male around her. It was still a wonder how they allowed Kyller to stay in the rose castle but not Demir. They were surprisingly easygoing with the forr.
