Lyra calmly gazed at the thundering clouds and the heavy rain that was pouring outside the cave. The place they were staying in was slightly above the ground, preventing the rainwater from getting inside the cave. She shuddered due to the cold wind and tried to keep herself warm by scooting near the fire. By now, her dress was dry, and that urged her into wearing them while Kaizer briefly left the cave to give her privacy.
She returned his robe as soon as he returned. Kaizer told her that he was alright and wanted her to cover herself with it to get more warmth but Lyra was not okay with it. Having a naked stranger parade in front of her felt wrong.
Only after he received his robe did she release a breath in relief. Then her mind wandered elsewhere as she gazed at the falling rain. Her face looked serene yet her mind was anything but calm. So many thoughts ran inside her head that made her worry. For now, she wanted to do nothing but rush back to her ho. To her mates’ side.
That made her once again look up at the thundering grey clouds. The rain didn’t seem like it would stop anyti soon.
’Crackle’ the sound of burning amber broke her train of thought. Lyra looked back at the diligent man seriously looking at the fire. He looked troubled while he kept on putting more and more wood into the fire.
’’Are you trying to burn the cave down?’’ She couldn’t help but ask this question. The fire by now was so big that it was almost touching the roof of the cave but the man who was responsible for that seed to have no idea of what he was doing and only looked at her in confusion.
’’I thought you were cold?’’ he asked hesitantly. Kaizer saw her shivering from the cold wind. It was alright for him because he was a male and his body was naturally warm due to the fur in his beast form but he knew it was different for her. And due to bathing in cold water not long ago, she would be feeling cold so he wanted to keep her warm.
Hearing his innocent words filled with genuine care made Lyra smile. It was so hard maintaining a straight face in front of this man. She could see that he ant only good things for others but that was not at all true because Kaizer showed his real feelings only in her presence and to others he was apathetic most of the ti.
’’I indeed feel cold’’ Lyra said looking straight at him, ’’But too much fire can get dangerous’’
And that made Kaizer frown, ’’You don’t need to be afraid of such things while I’m here. I can protect you no matter the circumstances’’ he said that but he also reduced the firewood and thus tad the fire until it returned to normal.
Lyra chuckled, ’’You sound so confident’’ then sothing flashed in her mind, ’’I forgot to ask, What kind of beast are you?’’
’’A wolf’’ ca his quick reply that made Lyra nod.
’’Well, one of my mates is a wolf too’’ she murmured without thinking much but her words made Kaizer freeze. His brows furrowed in displeasure and his face darkened. He didn’t like her talking about another male. In his eyes, all of her mates were nothing but bastards who were incompetent enough to protect their mate.
anwhile, unbeknownst to the man’s inner thoughts, Lyra continued her ramble about her mate. Maybe it was because she missed them right now, ’’He is a prince of the silver wolf tribe. Lucas was the first person I t when I ca to this world’’ Kaizer frowned when he didn’t really get her words. She was talking as though there was another world. He held back his urge to ask her and let her continue, ’’I was so scared when I saw him turning into a silver wolf....by the way, what kind of wolf beastman are you?’’ she asked turning back to him. Lyra rembered Lucas once ntioning different kinds of wolves and that intrigued her to learn about Kaizer’s beast form.
Kaizer flinched when he felt her sparkling gaze directed at him. As though compelled, he opened his mouth, ’’I’m a black wolf’’
’’Ah!’’ Lyra nodded and murmured ’’A black wolf with purple eyes...’’ her words ca to halt when she recalled sothing. Her pupils shook as she stared at him, ’’You...are you that wolf that attacked ?’’
And as though affirming her thoughts, Kaizer’s face paled as soon as she finished speaking.
Lyra felt her throat dry in dread, ’’How...? Why?’’ She scooted away when the man in front of her moved. She still rembered the day he tried to harm her babies and herself using so kind of weird black smoke.
Kaizer’s mood plumted when she moved away from him. She looked too scared that he was not sure what to say, but he had to try, ’’Please didn’t get scared of , I will never hurt you’’
’’And why should I believe you?’’ Lyra retorted sharply before continuing, ’’Okay first of all, why did you save back there? Do you know ?’’ She felt stupid for not thinking about this sooner. Males in this world wouldn’t help strangers and especially females. They only do sothing when they are interested in the said person.
This sudden realization made Lyra wary of Kaizer. She looked at him in vigilance as fear crept into her heart. The man that she thought was innocent suddenly looked intimidating.
Lyra quickly got on her feet and tried to run away to only be stopped by sothing blocking her path. She took a step back and her lips wobbled facing the familiar but ominous-looking black smoke. Her shivering hands turned into fists as she tried to summon her powers but to no avail. She was not able to feel her power and that only made her more desperate.
’’Ple-Please!’’ plea left her mouth before she could even think but Kaizer on the receiving end maintained his silence and started to step towards her as his shadow creature crept behind Lyra making her immobile.
When he finally got near her, his hand casually encircled her waist before he pulled her towards him. Kaizer felt his heart clench in displeasure gazing at her tear-pooled eyes but on the other side, he quite enjoyed her staring at him. The rims of her beautiful iris turned red and he couldn’t help but blurt out, ’’You look like a scared bunny’’
Lyra whimpered pitifully when she felt him lean against her. His face rested on the crook of her neck and he inhaled her scent while uttering, ’’Please don’t get scared of ’’
Then he moved away from her and looked straight into her eyes, ’’I’m the sa clumsy beastman that you know’’ Lyra felt herself getting lost in his athyst iris filled with anguish, ’’So go on.....make fun of , laugh at but please don’t push away. I’m willing to stay as a dumb beastman if that is what you wish because I’m your Kai now. You nad and tad , so now take responsibility for "
