Noah returned to the rose castle after not getting any favorable response from his father and mother. He didn’t want to argue anymore with them regarding the sa matter because they did not understand him.
His mother went on about the queen’s duties and responsibilities but she didn’t understand the main point that he was talking about. His baby dove attracted all kinds of dangers wherever she went. Worst of all, he heard about a rootless beastman entering the rose castle. Thankfully she was unhard that day because that beastman left without doing anything to her. Even then, her shoulder was injured and Killian healed it on ti.
This was the situation that happened even when she remained inside the house, so he didn’t dare imagine what could occur if she goes out. That rootless beastman might once again approach her and worst those stray beasts could see her. His mate was too beautiful for her good.
Noah didn’t even know why a rootless beastman was behind her. He only knew that it could be not for any good reason.
Right after reaching the rose castle, he went to Lucas’ room and inford him about his conversation with his parents. And as expected, his friend was enraged as soon as he finished speaking.
’’Has everybody lost their mind or sothing?’’ Lucas exclaid in anger filled voice. He couldn’t believe what he heard. Even after knowing the risk, they wanted his mate to attend that stupid coronation banquet. And the reason for that? So Queen duties. It was utter nonsense.
Noah too felt that his parents are wrong in this matter but he had to think about others’ perspectives too, ’’But the one that will receive backlash here is our mate. Our tribesn including Snake, Vulture, scorpion, and eagle tribe will stay silent for now but soon they will start to talk behind her back. They might feel bitter about her not attending the official matters"
Lucas knew that too. He knew that well than anyone else because both his mother and sister went through the sa thing. Like his mother, his sister beca queen of the tiger tribe by mating with the tiger king. As the tiger tribe was not inside the beast city, his sister found it too difficult to adapt. She was young and decided to learn everything before doing her queen duties but that move of hers made her suffer.
They said that she was lazy and purposefully neglected her duties and was not fit to be a queen of their tribe. There was a ti when his sister said that she was regretting mating with a king-beastman. Other females would remain carefree without doing anything but even when she tried, the only thing she received was harsh words in return. And it only got worse because so of the tiger tribe’s elders asked his brother-in-law’s elder brother to take the throne away from him. This made his sister even more miserable. She blad herself for her mate’s situation.
All of this got better as ti went but it still scarred his sister for life. She was such a cheerful and kind girl but she lost all of that and never smiled as she did back when she was young.
Lucas never wanted sothing like that to happen to his mate but he also did not want her to go out when there was still danger out in the city. He felt torn and didn’t know what to do anymore.
’’I think we should talk to baby dove about this once’’ Noah suggested when he realized that Lucas was lost sa as him.
Lucas was just about to reply but stopped when he heard his mate’s voice.
’’What is it that you want to talk to ?’’ Lyra asked as she entered the room with the cubs following behind her.
And as soon as those cubs saw Lucas, they rushed towards him before pouncing on him. Lyra briefly smiled at them and turned towards Noah, ’’Tell . What is it?’’
Noah hesitated slightly but at last, decided to tell everything and started to explain about the Fox tribe’s coronation banquet. Then he finished by telling her the role of the future queen and current queen leaving Lyra speechless.
She glanced at both of them and asked, ’’Why didn’t any of you guys tell about this until now?’’ Every one of her mates maintained silence and she didn’t know about all of these things. Lyra sotis felt like they were way too protective of her. Yes, it is not easy to perform the queen’s duties for all of her mate’s tribes. That sounded ridiculous to even her but she could at least try. Maybe she wouldn’t be able to do everything but at least she could do the bare minimum of attending important banquets and visiting the tribes from ti to ti.
But with them not even telling her all these, Lyra felt wronged. It showed that they didn’t care enough to inform her.
"You guys don’t trust enough’’ Words left her mouth even before she could think and that made two males inside the room go stiff.
Noah and Lucas glanced at each other. The two understood that they screwed up when they heard their mate’s sad voice. She was biting her lower lip trying to stop herself from bursting into tears which made them feel even worse.
As Lucas was holding the cubs, Noah got up from his seat and strode towards his mate. He tried to hug her but she shrugged her shoulder and his hands fell on his sides.
’’Baby dove, it’s really not like you think’’ he started to explain desperately, ’’We just didn’t want to burden you with the tribe’s matters’’
’’Yes Ly, you were already busy with taking care of the cubs. We didn’t want to add on to that’’ Lucas added right after Noah.
Lyra looked up at them still upset, ’’But you could have at least told about it. How difficult is it for one of you to explain it to ? I’m not talking about only this, I know that you guys hide many other things from ’’ It was always like this. They never explained things until she pestered them to talk. For instance, the things regarding the ’Sapphire of wish’, she felt that her mates knew more about it than her.
’’We hide it for a reason, Ly’’ Lucas said sharply. Was it so wrong for them to hide things that could hurt her? She was saying as though they didn’t say anything to her. The one ti they decided to be truthful and brought Theodore in front of her, she almost opened the portal to her old world and was going to abandon them. He still felt his heart clench every ti he thought about that day.
On the other side, Lyra felt her eyes water when Lucas raised his voice.
Noah noticed her gloomy face and sighed. He glared back at Lucas but the latter ignored his gaze and his mate turned around before walking out of the room.
And that made Lucas panic. She never walked out on him like that. Settling the cubs down on the ground, he rushed out of the room while calling his mate, ’’Ly.....Please stop. I’m really sorry’’
