Astri is impressed, watching Kangki exposing his thoughts and heart like that. She thought she would talk to herself exposing her feelings to him, but he showed he had a lot on his mind either.
"I killed your father. How could I expect that if I decide to change myself you will treat the sa way?" He pondered aloud, his question rhetorical yet directed at her with a longing for understanding.
"You’re dear to too, Kangki. I will always be here for you and I won’t ever change the way I treat you or feel about you. I would change only if you did sothing against and my family now. I know your past, and I know the real you." She assured him with a genuine smile.
"Real ?"
"Monsters might have co from darkness and evil energies. But what I can affirm you is that every living being is born good." He is shocked at her affirmation. "Even Monsters. You’re an ancient beast like . However, your kind feels good in darkness, and soon you fed grief, envy, and anger inside of you that made you beco a Monster. And after a long ti, even your soul was affected."
Kangki had been part of this world for so long that he had forgotten the truths Astri was reminding him of. There was a ti when he simply believed he had always been a Monster.
"You didn’t find after my father died because he sent to another world. You would never find here. In that world, I was also seen as an abomination, an object, and sothing everyone wanted far from them. I could also have turned into a Monster. But I chose not to be evil. I chose to simply live the best I could. Life is all about choices, Kangki."
Choices... His choice.
"Can you say that you’re the sa Kangki from the ti you killed my father?" She asks him.
"No... I’m not. I’m very different and I keep changing. That’s what bothers and at the sa ti makes want to try more. Before, I would hate new things. Now, I’m looking for it because of you." He confesses.
She smiled and nodded in acknowledgnt.
"That’s why I forgive you, Kangki."
He sighed, a sense of relief washing over him that he hadn’t realized he needed.
"But I still envy your spouses. I’m angry that I can’t have you. And if you’re near other males I want to kill them on sight."
"That’s very much like any of my spouses also feel." She giggles.
He falls silent for so monts, looking at her eyes deeply.
"If I beco a beastman I won’t control Monsters anymore."
"No. You won’t. Is that a concern for you?"
"I don’t care, but having control of them makes sure at least my Monsters won’t attack you."
"I don’t need protection from Monsters. Monster Kings and Emperor are who I worry about the most. And as we saw, it doesn’t matter if you’re a Monster or Beastman, they will attack you either way."
"Well... It’s true... Would you let be your spouse?"
"Is that what you want?"
"Why do you ask that? You don’t want as a spouse?"
"It’s not that. I just don’t want you to feel pressured to do that. It will be like being born and learning to live again. You might face the sa judgnts and hard tis that made you beco a Monster."
He raises his hand again and loses against his inner fight to touch her. Passing his fingers on her face, which he normally does and his hand goes through her, but now he’s really touching her. Then he passes his hand on her hair and looks at every detail of her.
As the mont passed, he looked around confused. Her spouses still didn’t co to check on her.
"Why didn’t they co? Did you tell them not to?" He asks her.
"No. You accepted sothing in your heart. If they’re not feeling you as a threat anymore, it’s because deep inside of you, you wouldn’t harm in any way." She explains, getting closer to him and then she kisses his cheek, awaking his heartbeat.
He holds his chest and looks at her in shock. "Wha.."
She takes his hand and puts it on her heart too, so he feels her heartbeat too, and understands what is happening.
"I’m becoming a beastman again.." He softly says, and she nods.
"Rember when I told you that we’re the sa? Now can you understand what I was talking about?"
"We have powers that keep the balance. I’m.. a Quira. The night. You’re the Pegasus. The light."
"You said I was never ant for you. We were ant to live in this world together. The others before just didn’t understand that." She says.
His heart is still pounding in his chest, and every beat hurts and is refreshing at the sa ti, like drinking water after days without water in the desert.
Surrendering themselves, they let their heads get closer and they kiss. And that made him hot again and his heart pounds faster.
She can feel that he’s overwheld, so she stops. She holds his face.
"Don’t worry. Take your ti." She says.
"It hurts a little.." He admits.
"I know."
He touches her lips.
"But it was so good. So that’s the feeling. Those bastards are so lucky."
She chuckles.
"You will have to learn to live with them if you really want to keep on with this."
"I know.. Can I stay with you?" He asks, as he is looking for comfort.
She nods and calls him to follow her. They fly together, back to the others and the others instantly feel sothing different coming from Kangki. They can’t feel that they mated, but Kangki doesn’t feel the sa.
"Let’s go ho." Astri says and the others simply follow her lead.
Lee takes a quick glance at Kangki, flying on her side, his wings reminded him of Cyprian’s a little, but what caught his attention was a massive beast mark on his back. It wasn’t as big as Astri, but it wasn’t a common beast mark either. And he was very sure that Kangki didn’t have a beast mark, and he didn’t recognize the beast because the mark was faint and didn’t have its color entirely.
When they arrived at night, the children were already asleep so the adults could talk.
"What is happening to you, Kangki?" Claud asks, watching his energy.
"..I’m changing." Kangki answers.
"Changing? What do you an?" Wayde asks.
"Astri’s energy is affecting Kangki to an extent that is changing him. You weren’t born a Monster then." Claud explains.
"It’s been so long that I didn’t rember that." Kangki answers.
"You’re becoming a beastman? Is that it?" Cyprian asks.
"He has a beast mark on his back. I never saw it before." Lee ntions.
"Do you rember what beast you are?" Claud asks Kangki.
"A Quira."
Claud, Koa, and Cyprian are impressed.
"Your kind.. I thought it was a legend." Koa says.
"I just heard that your kind is ancient like a Pegasus." Claud speaks.
" too." Cyprian says.
"You’re very old then." Zin ntions.
"Thousands of years." Kangki answers.
"Why did you beco a Monster?" Tyr asks.
"I don’t have entire mories because it’s been so long. But now that I’m changing I’m having so flashes in my mind. While Pegasus is a beast related to Nature directly, and is the light of the beasts. A Quira is related to Nature but is the dark part of beasts. Night and dark were always seen as bad because only light brings warmth and hope. I was always seen as sothing bad and I believe I just beca bad."
Understanding more of his past, their eyes towards Kangki changed more. Zin is the one who completely understands Kangki’s position since he is also seen as sothing bad and only their family has more respect for him.
"Why are you not saying anything?" Kangki asks Astri.
"I like that all of you are talking without fighting. You need to get to know each other and start to build trust. I’m proud of you all." She answers with a smile.
"My main question is.. Do you want to change? Will you really change?" Beau asks.
"If I didn’t I wouldn’t be here. The longer I stay near Astri, the faster I’ll change. I kissed her and you didn’t feel anything. That’s proof that I’m changing." Kangki answers.
They get impressed and looks at Astri after any answer.
"Will you accept him? He killed your father, Astri." Tyr asks her.
"Because of him you were sent to another world and lived a horrible life." Wayde says.
"It’s not because he decided to help you that everything that he had done is forgiven." Dieg speaks.
Well, Astri was expecting they would be questioned, but not as fast and directly from her spouses like that. She takes a deep breath to not let things escalate.
