Chapter 73: Chapter 69: Exhibition Match

The award ceremony was scheduled to take place after Sha Duo and Gao Xulu’s performance match.

Before Qiao Sang left the competition area, a staff mber specifically ca over to ask for her seat number among the audience, saying they would invite her to the stage to receive her award later.

Unlike the orderly manner of receiving awards in her previous life,

the beastriding society now generally favored flamboyant entrances.

The Beast Taming Competition wasn’t so bad; only the entrance for the award ceremony was a bit flashy.

...

But for the Coordination Competitions, even a participant’s initial entrance had to be particularly creative.

The difference was that in the Coordination Competitions, it was up to the participants to wrack their brains for ideas.

Whereas, in the Beast Taming Competitions, the entrance style was managed by the organizers’ planning, and those receiving the awards just needed to quietly wait for arrangents.

When Qiao Sang returned to her seat in the audience, before Bai Yunmiao could even speak up, the uncle sitting on the other side enthusiastically said:

“Child, which school are you from? Your performance was truly amazing, far better than my good-for-nothing son.”

Just as Qiao Sang was about to respond, the aunt sitting in front of her turned around and said, “Child, are you here alone? Didn’t your parents co with you?”

“Qiao Sang, do you have plans for the sumr? If not, co to our Luwu Junior Pet Beast Full Custody Institution. Your Fire-Toothed Dog can play to its heart’s content there and release its nature. I’ll give you a discount,” said the young man who was also sitting in front.

For a mont, voices attempting to strike up a conversation surrounded her.

Qiao Sang responded to each one in turn.

She actually wasn’t very accustod to interacting with so many strangers.

In her previous life, she lived in a fast-paced city where people often kept a strong sense of personal boundaries, and the social atmosphere was cold.

In the sa neighborhood, neighbors might pass each other by without even a greeting.

Yet the strangers speaking to her now were genuinely enthusiastic and full of goodwill.

Qiao Sang sowhat understood that this had sothing to do with her first-place finish, but more importantly, people in her previous life all had their own matters to attend to.

Everyone had their own circle of life.

This circle could be so small that beyond the campus, the workplace, or even the ho, there was no one else to talk to.

Because there was no common ground between people, there were no topics to discuss.

But now, the shared interest in pet beasts brought them closely together.

When the background music at the venue began to play and the comntator announced that Sha Duo and Gao Xulu’s performance match had officially started, those sitting around finally quieted down and turned their attention back to the competition arena.

“Qiao Sang, you’re even more talented than the recent graduates from our school; they probably couldn’t have taken first place if they were here,” Bai Yunmiao said with a face full of admiration.

“Don’t just flatter . Those who are truly powerful at this stage probably didn’t even co to the competition,” Qiao Sang said as she casually took off the sunglasses from the Fire-Toothed Dog’s face.

She had felt for so ti that the sunglasses looked awkward on the dog’s face.

“Tooth?”

The Fire-Toothed Dog, sensing the change in gaze, dipped its head and used its paw to take the sunglasses back from its beast tar’s hand and put them on again.

Qiao Sang: “…”

Who was it that absolutely refused to wear them at the beginning?

“After all, it clashes with the timing of The Interstellar Cup competition, but even so, not to ntion those before, just looking at the ones who competed after you, Hou Xiangyu and Wei Wenya, one from Li Tang High School and the other just got accepted into Yongda—compared to them, you’re so young. Normally, who would…”

Bai Yunmiao’s words were interrupted by Qiao Sang.

“Look quick, Sha Duo has sent out the Sichuan Swallow,” Qiao Sang interjected.

Bai Yunmiao imdiately muted himself and looked towards the arena.

The red Star Array in front of Sha Duo had just disappeared.

Before a Beast Tar reveals their rank badge, the color of the Star Array is the common standard by which the public determines a Beast Tar’s rank.

An F-rank Beast Tar’s Star Array is white, an E-rank Beast Tar’s is gray, a D-rank Beast Tar’s is green, and a C-rank Beast Tar’s is orange-yellow.

Red is the hallmark of a B-rank Beast Tar or, in other words, proof that Sha Duo could contract with five pet beasts.

Gao Xulu’s Star Array was also red.

Under her red Star Array, a pet beast around three ters in size with a red back, greyish-white belly, and pure white wingtips and tail feathers appeared in the arena, its wings spread wide.

Furthermore, most of its feathers bore so mysterious patterns.

It doesn’t look like it grew naturally, but rather as if it was deliberately carved by soone.

Qiao Sang knew vaguely with her limited knowledge that this kind of pattern was very expensive…

There are many occupations derived from pet beasts, and Pet Beast Spirit Engraver is one of them.

They can draw patterns on the bodies of pet beasts using special techniques to produce various effects.

These patterns could accelerate energy condensation, increase defense and attack power, enhance the pet beast’s breeding capabilities or suppress them.

In short, there are many corresponding effects, but there are ti and usage limits.

Official competitions do not allow the pet beasts to have engraved patterns, as this power is similar to wearing artifacts, regarded as external forces rather than coming from the pet beasts themselves.

However, the upcoming event is an exhibition match where not just engraving patterns, but even wearing artifacts is not an issue.

Because there’s no need to determine a winner in an exhibition match, just a touch is enough.

But so of Sha Duo’s supporters, like Bai Yunmiao, expressed their confusion.

“Gao Xulu is already stronger than Sha Duo, so why send out a Fiery Arrow Owlet with engraved patterns? Isn’t that bullying?”

“Perhaps the effect of this pattern is not the kind that enhances strength,” Qiao Sang guessed.

“You make sense,” Bai Yunmiao was imdiately convinced.

Their attention returned to the four-winged swallows and the Fiery Arrow Owlets, who were fiercely battling in the air.

Although the four-winged swallow was smaller in size, its montum was not any less than that of its opponent.

The two pet beasts exchanged several moves in the blink of an eye, releasing skills continuously as if they didn’t need energy at all.

After each clash of skills, the two pet beasts tacitly pulled apart and then flew in another direction to continue their assault, thrilling everyone watching.

Neither Sha Duo nor Gao Xulu issued any commands throughout.

About ten minutes into the fray, the four-winged swallow dodged a burst of air flas from the Fiery Arrow Owlet and suddenly sidestepped, flying towards the spectator stands.

The Fiery Arrow Owlet, seeing this, followed closely behind, still managing to unleash a violent storm while in pursuit.

The four-winged swallow didn’t look back, but seed to sense the danger and dodged with a single movent of its wings.

It was thrilling, especially as both Flight Type pet beasts flew towards the spectator stands, intensifying the excitent even more.

“Damn!”

“Oh my god!”

“Aaahhh!”

“Help!”

The direction the two pet beasts were heading towards was Section A of the spectator stands, where the crowd ducked and shielded their heads, wary of getting caught in the action.

The four-winged swallow flew dangerously low, barely grazing the spectators as it passed.

Luckily, the Fiery Arrow Owlet behind it did not release any more skills.

But the sight of the two chase each other around the spectator stands, repeatedly lowering their altitude to interact closely with the audience was more thrilling than a roller coaster.

Qiao Sang watched with a mixture of awe and fear.

Just as the four-winged swallow was about to reach Section C, Qiao Sang hugged the Fire-Toothed Dog with one hand and pulled Bai Yunmiao down to crouch with the other.

In three breaths, the four-winged swallow appeared over Section C of the stands.

Qiao Sang felt the violent movent of the air above her, and as the four-winged swallow passed, her ponytail was whipped around fiercely by the wind.

Fortunately, the four-winged swallow flew away quickly.

Qiao Sang breathed a sigh of relief, but just as she looked up, her body suddenly left her seat and appeared dozens of ters in the air.

“Aaaaah!”

“Ya!!!”

Qiao Sang was frightened, while the Fire-Toothed Dog was excited.

After six seconds, Qiao Sang, pale-faced, appeared on the award platform, alongside a similarly colorless Wei Wenya.

“I now announce that the Bai Xinsai award ceremony officially begins!”
