Chapter 346: Chapter 333 Phantom Beast
Qiao Sang’s body suddenly stiffened, and he slowly turned his head.
Zhang Rongtang’s eyes swept over and t his. A corner of his mouth twitched upward in a smile, but it was a smile that gave off a completely different vibe from the approachable uncle image he had just before.
A chill rose from Qiao Sang’s coccyx to the crown of his head. He was like a cat with its fur standing on end, a Peking opera cry slipping out as he swiftly took a large step back.
It wasn’t the sudden appearance of the man that had frightened him so much as the Pet Beast next to the man that stood over four ters high. Its body’s color almost fused with the night, and its blood-red eyes were staring at you. Then it smiled and even left drool behind—such a Spectral-type Pet Beast was terrifying!
Just that one glance nearly scared Qiao Sang to death on the spot.
What kind of entrance was that?!
And if you want to smile, just smile! What’s with looking at
and drooling?
Perhaps because Qiao Sang’s fright was so evident, the Spectral-type Pet Beast with the blood-red eyes “slurped” and sucked back the saliva that was almost at its chin.
Qiao Sang “!!!”
Wu Chang, due to his frequent visits to the graveyard, had developed a resistance to the horror effect of the environnt and didn’t react as jumpy as Qiao Sang and Yaobao.
Watching Zhang Rongtang and the Pet Beast that stood over four ters tall return, and combining that with the “Qi Yunla, I’ve finally waited for you” he had just heard, his mind flashed with confused thoughts, mixed with panic and bewildernt.
Wu Chang was not stupid.
“Uncle Zhang, why have you co back?” He forced a smile more painful than crying, “And why is there a Spectral Series beast spewing nonsense next to you?”
Although he had his guess, Wu Chang did not want to believe this reality; he wanted Uncle Zhang to tell him in person.
As long as Uncle Zhang spoke, no matter what he said, Wu Chang thought he would be willing to believe.
In the past, he always felt like a spare person, being kicked around like a ball by his parents, unable to understand why they had given birth to him at all.
His elderly grandfather, living alone in the old ho, was very kind to him, but Wu Chang always felt Grandpa kept him around more for company than anything else.
This person could have been Wu Yi, Wu Er, Wu San, Wu Si—it didn’t necessarily have to be him, Wu Chang.
Then, he t Uncle Zhang.
Just like every father in the world, he would ride a bicycle to take him fishing, notice the first signs of his discomfort and take him to the hospital, give him advice when choosing a Pet Beast, and even urge him to do his howork.
Every ti he ca ho, he was awaited by the enticing aroma of cooked als.
He always rembered the first ti he t Uncle Zhang, who had said with a smile, “Kid, your bangs are too long; they need to be trimd, or they’ll be bad for your eyes.”
Uncle Zhang’s arrival finally made him feel that he was no longer superfluous.
For a long ti, he had wondered why he couldn’t be Uncle Zhang’s son.
How could an Uncle Zhang like that possibly be fake?
Wu Chang looked at Zhang Rongtang, hope shining in his eyes.
What answered him was a transparent, round device that descended from the sky.
As the device fell, it landed perfectly over Qi Yunla, and then, with a speed visible to the naked eye, the opening sealed itself automatically.
Imdiately after, a swishing sound sliced through the air above, and a majestic flying owl dove down like a cannonball fired from a gun, seizing with its sharp claws the device containing Qi Yunla.
The majestic flying owl didn’t fly away but flapped its wings steadily and hovered beside Zhang Rongtang.
“Yun Yun!” Qi Yunla, covered in a white chiffon cloth, kept knocking and attacking the transparent device, but to no avail—the device remained intact without a single crack appearing.
“I originally didn’t want to start trouble in front of you,” said Zhang Rongtang indifferently, “but who asked you to bring a child with a Spectral-type Pet over.”
He glanced at the innocent-looking Xiao Xunbao and continued, “It must have seen the blathering evil spirit next to , I had no choice.”
“Xun?” Xiao Xunbao, given a stare like that, showed a bewildered expression and pointed at itself with its short toe.
This was its problem?!
Although Zhang Rongtang didn’t answer his question, it was no different from having answered it. Wu Chang’s eyes reddened in an instant, and he tried hard not to let the tears fall as he asked, “Uncle Zhang, why are you capturing it?”
What else could it be for! To make a contract! Qiao Sang roared inwardly in reply.
Please!
This is Qi Yunla!
Qi Yunla, the legendary Phantom Beast!
Phantom Beasts, a type of Pet Beast with a rarity greater than that of divine beasts.
It’s possible to breed divine beasts that can break through their racial limits to evolve into divine level from those that have already been researched, but not Phantom Beasts.
Each Phantom Beast possesses unique skills and traits, and with their scarcity, they are in so ways more impressive than divine beasts.
Qi Yunla, a Phantom Beast that could bring good luck to a person.
Legend has it that whoever is blessed by it, as long as they dare to act upon their desires, the whole world will co to their aid.
There’s a movie about a protagonist whose career and love life are both failures. He tries to end it all by jumping off a cliff, but then ets Qi Yunla, coincidentally finds an injured divine beast to take advantage of, faces down those who once looked down on him, marries a rich and beautiful woman, and ultimately reaches the pinnacle of life.
If it weren’t for the massive amount of research done by the director of that film, featuring Qi Yunla with a translucent outline and ears with two angles and three horns, Qiao Sang wouldn’t have dared connect the Pet Beast covered in a white cloth with the legendary Phantom Beast.
Catching such an aweso Pet Beast is definitely for making a contract, isn’t it? As if they’d take a photo and let it go with a social dia update!
Too bad. If it weren’t for this uncle, she might have taken a photo for keepsakes.
Phantom Beasts, she might never encounter another in her lifeti…
As for the uncle catching Qi Yunla, Qiao Sang wasn’t planning to join the excitent.
It’s quite normal for Beast Tars to capture Pet Beasts; it’s just usually done in secret realms since it’s rare to encounter a wild Pet Beast you want to contract in the city.
As for contracting Qi Yunla, she had never even considered it.
Do what you have the ability to do; not to ntion she didn’t even have the fourth page of the Beast Taming Codex, and Yaobao and the others were almost too much for her to maintain.
Lubao was at least a stray that ended up in her backyard, creating so emotional attachnt.
Qi Yunla was different, they never even exchanged a word.
Besides, even if she purely wanted to help out of kindness, she couldn’t beat him; it’s better not to ddle… Qiao Sang didn’t see herself as a hero.
“Capture it?” Zhang Rongtang laughed and took the circular device holding Qi Yunla from the claws of the burly flying owl, placing it in front of his eyes: “I didn’t want to treat it this way either, but it keeps hiding from . I have no choice but to do this.”
“Yun Yun!” Qi Yunla angrily attacked the device.
Zhang Rongtang stared at Qi Yunla as if looking at an unreasonably stubborn child, “It’s no use, I spent…”
Before he could finish his sentence, a fierce blaze of fire suddenly attacked them.
“Ya Ya!”
