Chapter 691: Chapter Six Hundred and Eighty-Six: On the Issue of Taming Single-Celled Organisms

Crystal Palace Research Institute.

Bai Qi was staring at a droplet of black fluid in the test tube, not blinking his eyes, as if he was afraid of missing sothing.

After a long ti, Bai Qi finally lost patience. He looked at a bronze dragon next to him and said, “Cowskin Snake, quicken it.”

“Watch !”

ntioned, Cowskin Snake imdiately beca energetic. His eyes flashed, and he inhaled deeply, blowing directly at the test tube.

In an instant, slobber splashed everywhere, drenching both Bai Qi and the test tube. A vein on Bai Qi’s forehead began to throb uncontrollably.

...

“Cowskin Snake… Are you sure you’ve mastered the Breath of Ti?”

Bai Qi looked at Cowskin Snake speechlessly. If Delta hadn’t been stuck in the Candle Dragon Secret Realm, and Cowskin Snake had not turned back into the form of a Bronze Dragon, Bai Qi would never believe this guy.

“Forget it, anyway, I have basically figured out the principle of the Death Virus.”

Bai Qi wiped the slobber off his face and looked at several rows of culture plates beside him. They were filled with body tissues extracted from the Dead Beasts.

Upon his return, Bai Qi conducted a ticulous study of the Death Virus prototype and the deceased beasts, and roughly understood how the Death Virus spread.

Simply put, there were two thods of virus spread. One was self-division. This thod took place slowly even without a host while maintaining its strength.

But based on the data Bai Qi had collected so far, the self-division of the Death Virus was very slow. Bai Qi roughly estimated that it would take at least a week for a division to occur.

This might have been why he found fragnts of the Bronze Dragon Secret Realm in that pool.

The other thod was through contact, invading the body for transmission. This propagation thod was very fast, but because of rapid division, it would slowly dilute. This was also the reason why the Dead Beasts beca weaker.

The two thods each had their advantages and disadvantages and followed two paths of quality and quantity. If allowed to spread, the virus could beco quite troubleso.

“I’ve found the principle of the virus spread. Next, it’s ti to look for a solution.”

Stroking his chin, Bai Qi turned to Jie Ta, who was still pouring various dicines, and asked, “Jie Ta, have you found any inhibiting dicines?”

Snoring~

(Not yet, these dicines are ineffective. I think I’ll try to poison it.)

Jie Ta shook his head. The Death Virus was stubborn. So far, aside from Ice Attribute being able to inhibit its spread, other attributes had no effect.

“Fight poison with poison? It might not be a bad idea.”

Bai Qi shrugged, showing no intention of stopping Jie Ta.

Though it seed like finding a temporary solution, it was better than allowing the Death Virus to spread freely.

He had no idea how the Death Round Table researched it, but they managed to annihilate the soul of the infected organism, allowing it to retain the body’s mobility while invading its body.

Moreover, the strength of organisms interfered by the Death Virus had not decreased. Unless it encountered sothing like Alpha that could absorb the Power of Death, other attacks were ineffective.

If left to spread, even without the intervention of the Death Round Table, most lives in this world would turn into Dead Beasts, which would be even more terrifying than the Undead Catastrophe.

But it was really hard to dissolve…

“Why don’t I ask my parents? They’re more professional in this area.”

After sorting out the collected data, Bai Qi yawned, then leaned back in his chair, staring silently at the virus prototype in front of him.

Cowskin Snake was still trying to spit out saliva, attempting to use the Bronze Dragon’s signature skill, Breath of Ti, but he just couldn’t trigger it.

“What’s going on? I have beco a Bronze Dragon, haven’t I?”

Cowskin Snake looked at his body in confusion. Although he couldn’t claim to be a giant dragon, his dragon form was genuine. For so reason, however, he was unable to use any skills.

“Why could I do it before but I can’t do it now?”

Cowskin Snake sighed, only to accidentally spit out a stream of bronze dragon breath, enveloping the test tube containing the virus prototype. The previously static prototype finally showed signs of activity, slowly dividing into two droplets.

“Hah… I finally did it!”

Having accidentally managed to use the Breath of Ti, Cowskin Snake was overjoyed. He spit out a few more tis, but it gradually reverted to just being saliva.

“Why don’t you go back and practice more.”

Seeing this, Bai Qi, with a disgusted look on his face, sent him back to the Ti Secret Realm. He casually picked up a new test tube and put the split droplet in it.

These test tubes were made by Jie Ta from Ice Attribute materials. They could resist the invasion of the Death Virus to so extent, but when there were too many, they couldn’t hold up.

“Hmm? Why do I sll the Power of Death? Bai Qi, did another of your pets get infected with the Power of Death?”

Just then, a blackbird flew in from the outside. It looked at the Death Virus in the test tube, opened its mouth wide, and swallowed the virus.

“Pretty good flavor, just a bit too little.”

Not fully satisfied, the Jiuyou Darkbird clicked its mouth, turning its attention to the other Death Viruses.

“Senior Jiuyou, these are for research. You can’t eat them.”

On seeing this, Bai Qi quickly hid the test tube in his hand away. He found it strange how both Alpha and Jiuyou Darkbird treated such a dangerous thing as food.

“Alright… but when you’re done with your research, you must keep so for .”

The Jiuyou Darkbird looked regretful. It glanced at Alpha who was following behind and muttered, “If I don’t hurry, I feel like I’ll be caught up by this guy.”

“What did you say, Senior Jiuyou?”

“It’s no big deal, hurry up and get to your research,”

The Jiuyou Darkbird turned its head and flew back to the dead beasts’ bodies. After carefully examining each one, a disappointed expression appeared on its face.

“Damn it, they’re all contaminated by flesh and blood, and the concentration is so low that I can’t digest them,” the bird complained.

Upon hearing this, Bai Qi raised an eyebrow and asked, “Senior Jiuyou, what do you an by ‘contamination by flesh and blood’?”

From what he saw, it was the death virus that contaminated the flesh and blood. Why did it seem reversed when it ca to Jiuyou?

“Have you spent all this ti researching without knowing what you’re studying?”

The Jiuyou Darkbird said incredulously, “To put it in terms you humans would understand, that so-called death virus you were just talking about is actually a single-celled organism. Once it cos into contact with flesh and blood, it rapidly releases the Power of Death and assimilates the flesh and blood cells, while also absorbing energy from them.”

“Therefore, as ti goes on, the Power of Death will diminish, and impurities will increase. If that’s not contamination, then what is it?”

“When you put it that way, it would indeed be considered contamination,” Bai Qi said, suddenly understanding.

Bai Qi couldn’t help but laugh at this. He looked at the death virus in the test tube with a flash of light in his eyes.

A single-celled organism that could still be considered a living being… perhaps it could also be tad with a Spirit-Control Orb?

If it couldn’t be eliminated for the ti being, why not try to ta it? Whether or not it could be summoned could be addressed later—the key was to have sothing harmless.

That’s it… such an idea hadn’t occurred to him before!

“Schuck, co with to redesign the Spirit-Control Orb’s Rune Structure… Husky, find a tal capable of bearing the death virus!” Bai Qi instructed, not minding their confusion as he gave them their respective tasks.

“Is your Beast Master always like this?” the Jiuyou Darkbird asked, sowhat speechless at Bai Qi’s zealous deanor.

Creaking sounds echoed.

(Yes, our leader is always straightforward.)

“Straightforward, huh… oh well, I’m not interested in this place anymore. You co and train with again. Despite both being mutated from the Power of Death, why is your Power of Silent Annihilation so much more potent?”

More creaking noises followed.

(No problem.)

Outside the Crystal Palace.

A bone dragon tore through the sea water and quickly flew over. On top of the dragon’s head, a young boy with a baby face was holding a Storm Rat, his eyes full of curiosity as he looked at the Crystal Palace ahead.

“This is the Deep Sea Alliance father was talking about… it’s really beautiful,” the boy said in awe.

“Unbelievable… no wonder they say the deep sea is a place of great riches. It’s all true,” Bai Yuxiao clambered up from the back of the bone dragon, a glint in his eyes.

With so many treasures, he could just pick up a few and achieve financial freedom, right? Then he wouldn’t have to look at his father’s face anymore.

“Who are you, daring to approach our Deep Sea Alliance so casually!” Right then, several enormous figures flew over from the distance, quickly surrounding the bone dragon. The intimidating auras they emitted made Bai Yuxiao’s heart skip a beat.

“I apologize, we bear no ill will,” said Bai Qiucha as he slowly stood up from the dragon’s head. “My na is Bai Qiucha, this is my cousin Bai Yuxiao. We ca here to find Bai Qi.”

“Looking for big brother Bai?” On hearing Bai Qiucha’s words, the figures imdiately ceased their hostility, revealing their appearances.

“You share the sa last na Bai as our big brother. Could you be his brother?” Ming Dian interrogated, scrutinizing the two closely.

“Big brother? You an Bai Qi? I am not.” Ming Dian seed to understand but was about to ask again when he noticed the bone dragon under Bai Qiucha and suddenly rembered sothing.

“Wasn’t there talk that Councilor Bai has a son whose beast companion is a bone dragon?”

“It seems like it,” the Bloodthirsty Bat Skate nodded, adding, “Now that you ntion it, this one really does look like Councilor Bai—though he seems much kinder.”

“Yeah, Councilor Bai’s gaze is just…”

“All right, enough talking. Call out to him,” said Ming Dian as he coughed twice. Turning to Bai Qiucha, he said, “Since you’re the son of Councilor Bai, please follow .”

As he spoke, Ming Dian glanced apprehensively at the bone dragon beneath Bai Qiucha, then turned and led the way.

Although faint, the dragon’s aura made Ming Dian feel threatened. This was also why they had imdiately attacked the foreigners.

Under the leadership of the Thirteen Protectors, the bone dragon carried Bai Qiucha forward. As they reached the entrance, they saw Bai Qi coming out from inside, holding two Spirit-Control Orbs of different colors.

“Let’s go, let’s go. Let’s see if it works on the wild Dead Beasts. If it does, then we can promote this Spirit-Control Orb-Sun and Moon.”
