Chapter 27: Everything Goes Black

"Squeak squeak squeak!"

The white mouse demon trembled in fear from the terrifying demonic power of Elder Black Bear.

When the leaf-covered eyes of the Pine Leaf Mouse heard the squeaking sound, it instantly thought of a distant relative and felt sorry for it.

So, it pulled out a long bamboo leaf soaked in blue spiritual bamboo water and used it as a blindfold. If it couldn't see, it wouldn't feel so bad.

Recently, after using its eye technique, the Pine Leaf Mouse had gotten into the habit of cooling its eyes by soaking them in bamboo leaves dipped in spiritual bamboo water. It felt a lot more comfortable that way.

"Eat it!" Elder Black Bear tossed the white mouse demon in front of the purple fire dragon fruit.

"What if it's sothing good? You might even profit!"

"If you don't die after eating it, I'll send you back to the mountain."

The white mouse demon wasn't a disciple of the Beast Taming Sect. It seed to be like the wild beasts on the "Fierce Tiger Peak"—captured by the sect to be used for disciple trials.

But now, before it could et a disciple, it was already caught by Elder Black Bear and used as a test subject.

"Ugh!" The white mouse demon, looking desperate, began to nibble on the purple fire dragon fruit. It dared not refuse, but after just two bites, it was surprised to find that it tasted quite good and didn’t seem poisonous at all.

It... might not have to die after all!

The mouse demon ate faster and faster, and soon, it had consud an entire mutated dragon bone flower.

Elder Black Bear and Lin Jing observed the little white mouse closely.

After finishing, the white mouse demon suddenly felt a surge of heat in its body.

In the next mont...

Boom!

A terrifying aura suddenly erupted from the white mouse demon, soaring into the sky!

Purple demonic energy flowed rapidly out of its body. This solidified demonic power quickly took shape and ford a terrifying dragon skeleton creature.

"Roar!!!"

The skeletal dragon was enormous, its bone scales flashing with a deep, mysterious red light, like a star shining in the dark night. Its dragon head was held high, and its eyes blazed with purple flas, exuding an undeniable aura of authority.

Its claws were sharp like swords, glinting with cold light as they slowly reached out toward Elder Black Bear.

"What the hell!" Elder Black Bear was completely shocked by the transformation of the white mouse demon. His vision darkened, and his fur stood on end as he felt a mont of fear before this terrifying dragon-shaped creature.

The enormous purple dragon eyes stared at Elder Black Bear, who took a step back as if facing an enormous threat. Sweat poured from his brow.

He panted heavily, but suddenly, he snapped back to his senses, cursed, and swatted at the dragon. To his surprise, it was just an illusion, and the supposed pressure was like water without a source, a tree without roots—completely false.

It seed that the effect of the purple dragon bone flower was to cause the user to hallucinate into becoming a powerful beast, creating an intimidating effect.

"Damn it, what kind of weird effects are you two creating with your syntheses?" Elder Black Bear growled in embarrassnt. He was furious at being scared by a little white mouse.

He should have eaten it himself if he'd known.

The sha of losing his dignity in front of a long-lived body and a little squirrel!

With a slap, Elder Black Bear struck the purple bone dragon, and the illusion imdiately disappeared, leaving only the small white mouse demon trembling on the ground.

The mouse's mouth was covered in purple-red fruit juice, looking very bloody...

Lin Jing and Pine Leaf Mouse exchanged a glance but said nothing, each for their own reasons—one because of the storage bag, and the other because of the desire for more rewards.

"Was it tasty?" Elder Black Bear hesitated for a mont before asking the white mouse demon.

The mouse demon trembled and nodded, licking the fruit juice from its lips.

"Alright, you can go now." He blew out a dark wind and imdiately blew the mouse demon to a nearby mountain peak.

"Looks like there are no side effects." Elder Black Bear shrugged as if nothing had happened. "Based on what just happened, it seems like once it reaches the 7th layer of Qi Refining, the user can start synthesizing the dragon bone flower. But I can't wait. The robe will be borrowed by you for a few days, and in return, you help synthesize so more dragon bone flowers."

"Elder Black Bear..."

"What is it?"

"Well... could you perhaps give us so dragon bone flower seeds?" Lin Jing asked. "I noticed that the mutated dragon bone flower has so potential, and it could serve as a trump card in the future when traveling through the immortal world."

An illusion that could scare even a Demon Core Beast—this could prove useful!

"Alright." Elder Black Bear grinned. He too was surprised by the powers of the purple dragon bone flower. Had he not seen the mouse demon's transformation with his own eyes, he would have been terrified if he encountered it outside.

Damn illusion!

At this mont, a flying rainbow streaked across the sky.

An elder in blue robes landed in the courtyard—it was Elder Yu.

He looked around with suspicion before his gaze settled on Elder Black Bear, Lin Jing, and the Pine Leaf Mouse.

"I just sensed a terrifying aura, like the appearance of a Demon King from the Nascent Soul stage..."

"Blind Bear, what are you doing here? Was that noise caused by you?"

Elder Black Bear didn’t want to elaborate: "Just pretend it was. I ca to visit the sect's outstanding disciples, and now that I’ve seen them, there’s nothing else to do."

He glanced at Lin Jing and the others, his gaze filled with aning.

It seed to say, "I'll be back once I find the storage bags." Or perhaps more threateningly, "If you dare leak what just happened, you're finished."

...

Elder Black Bear didn’t stay long and left. Elder Yu turned his attention to the surroundings but didn’t investigate further. His eyes were soon drawn to the chanical creations in the courtyard.

"Huh?"

The half-finished chanical turtles didn’t catch his attention, but a peculiar long tube-like chanism did.

As a master of chanical engineering, he could tell that of all the creations, this one was the closest to completion.

"You’re working quickly," Elder Yu remarked.

He marveled at Lin Jing’s learning abilities. In such a short amount of ti, he had already completed a basic chanical creation—clearly, he had been studying hard.

"What’s this?" He picked up the bamboo gun Lin Jing had created.

Instinctively, he pressed the trigger of the bamboo gun and aid it at the sky.

"Elder Yu, don’t!" Lin Jing yelled, and everything went black before his eyes.

"Chirp!!" Pine Leaf Mouse cried out as well—its vision also went black.

In the next mont,

The bamboo gun activated, and the spiritual bean bombs in the magazine were triggered into a state of readiness. They were then enveloped by a surge of water and shot out at high speed!

Splat, splat, splat!

The blue water flowed in bursts, carrying the spiritual bean bombs into the air.

"Water arrows? No, there are no water formation patterns inscribed in the device. It looks like there’s sothing else inside..." Elder Yu began to comnt, but was interrupted.

Boom boom boom boom boom!

The spiritual beans exploded one after another, sending shockwaves of spiritual energy through the air. The explosions resonated across the sky, whipping up winds as violent as a wind-type spell. In an instant, the trees within a certain radius of Lin Jing’s courtyard were uprooted, leaving a ss in their wake.

"..."

As a few leaves slapped against Elder Yu's face, he looked around at the devastation. He felt the bamboo gun burning hot in his hands, and once again, his vision went black.

"Are you planning to use this thing to battle foundation-building demon beasts?"
