VALENCIA’S POV
’Seriously, what are you doing here?’ Aurora asked as I walked to the further north parts of the forest with an evil plan in my mind, my Happy bird sitting on my shoulders.
’Just wait and watch,’ I said to her.
’That’s what I am not able to do. Whenever you have this kind of smile on your face, things always go south,’ Aurora said, and I grinned at her.
’Well, things won’t go south here for sure since we are in the north,’ I said before I snuck my way toward the caves that I knew would lead to the abandoned zones of the forests.
It was just a fleeting rumor, but I heard that so witches were arriving in the northern parts of the caves, and since I had never seen a mainland witch, I wanted to see what they looked like and how their powers work.
’Valencia, I don’t think this is a good idea,’ Aurora said, and I looked at my wolf with a scowl.
"Happy, you tell , do you think this is a bad idea?" I asked my bird who flew down from my shoulders, grabbed a little stick in his beak, and started writing.
"Fun," Happy said, and I chuckled at the bird before flaring my tongue at the wolf who scowled at our new bonding.
"Hehe," I walked inside the caves, removing the long branches of the trees in the way. It was a hidden cave that only a few people knew about, but since I was a cat and didn’t fear anyone, I have seen all these hidden paths in the last six months.
As soon as I entered the cave, I suddenly felt the pressure of the powers that were probably the doing of the witches to scare away the people from entering their regions.
However, was it going to scare in any way? I smirked before asking Aurora to co forward and execute her powers too.
Though she was a fake wolf, her power was no joke either. There were tis when I actually put the betas of the packs down and made them fear just so they couldn’t find out I don’t have a wolf.
It always worked and anything that works in my favor was a useful thing to .
’What are you doing? Speed up,’ I told my wolf, who rolled her eyes at .
’I am doing it. Shut up. There is a reason I can’t execute more powers. If the mainland witches found out about our relationship identity, they wouldn’t shy away from taking us away,’ Aurora said, and I rolled my eyes.
The sa excuse. It was the sa damn excuse that she always has whenever she wants to do anything.
What will they find out about us? That we don’t have a wolf and actually shape-shift into so feline creatures despite the fact that we are werewolves?
What a joke.
I scowled and exited the caves, looking around to see in which direction I should go.
I was about to turn to my left side when Happy suddenly left my side and rose in the sky.
"Happy!" I tried to call the bird back with a hushed whisper, afraid soone would hear , but the bird didn’t hear and just flew into the sky, making sigh.
It wasn’t so adventurous anymore.
I turned around with a pout when Happy ca back and pointed his feathers in the left direction, making grin.
’You tainted the poor ancient bird too. Look at it appeasing you so easily,’ Aurora said and I shrugged.
’Well, isn’t he learning from the best?’ I asked her before I started to walk in the direction the bird was pointing its feather.
It didn’t co back. Rather it kept flying in the sky, guiding towards the caves where the witches probably were.
As soon as I started nearing the place, the air around started to feel dense and heavy. It was almost like the air right before rain. The humidity was definitely there, but there was sothing else that was lingering around .
Sothing that was telling to run away and not move forward.
Though it was still evening and the sky was still bright, it felt weirdly dark.
I wouldn’t call it darkness either.
This feeling was weird.
I sighed and breathed heavily before looking around when it almost felt like soone was watching , and I raised my head in the sky.
To say I was surprised would be an understatent.
Standing, or should I say, floating in the sky was none other than a lady dressed in a violet dress with her violet eyes looking directly at .
"Fucking around?" The lady said, her voice strangely soothing to my heart, and I smiled at her.
The vibes around this lady were strangely comfortable.
I nodded my head without a doubt and was about to tell her that I was there to look for the mainland witches when Aurora imdiately stood from her place and looked at warily.
’Don’t you dare say a word to her! It’s a hoax for fools like you. The mont you say a word to her, she will make you disappear from here, remove your mories, and send you back to where you ca from. It also depends on her mood. If she is in a bad mood, things might turn really bad for you,’ Aurora warned .
Though normally I don’t listen to her, sothing compelled to believe what she was saying was true.
No wonder I felt familiar and comfortable around a woman I didn’t even know. It was their way to trap the person going to et the mainland witches.
Quite cunning I would say.
Without a doubt, I turned around and started walking forward, ignoring the lady who looked like she was following .
I could only walk for a little distance when I saw another lady who looked just like the previous one.
However, she was wearing a golden gown, and I gulped.
"Quite resilient, aren’t you?" The woman asked , and I scoffed.
Huh... As if I am going to be fooled again.
"Are you seriously going to ignore ? Despite knowing I am the one who can take you to the witches that you want to et?" The lady said again, and I kept walking ahead.
’You are good at this, aren’t you?’ Aurora asked, and I scoffed.
I an, could she bla ? This was one thing I was a pro at. Ignoring others.
I kept walking forward with Happy nowhere in sight, the increasing darkness along with the thickness of so weird white smoke, making it hard for to look further than a couple of ters.
’sss’ ’sss’
The sound of so kind of snake hissing echoed, and I looked around, my eyes widening when I saw around 20 or so snakes rushing towards with the speed of light.
’Please tell this is just a joke and their powers to ss with . If all these snakes bite , will my body have so many pictures? Will there be any blood left inside or will it turn to poison? How will I live with that?’ I sniffed.
’Seriously, Valencia. Your thought process amazes . You think that you’ll get to live after being bitten by so many snakes?’ Aurora asked , and I nodded my head shalessly, making her chuckle before she shook her head at .
I was about to transform to run away from here when out of the blue Happy ca out of nowhere and increased its size to the original one.
I watched in surprise as all the snakes left imdiately, making smile gratefully at the bird that shrunk back and started flying again.
It was really acting like my protector.
"The wanderer keeps on wandering, searching for light, but is the light she is searching in front of her or behind her?" I heard a voice around .
My first instinct was to turn around and see if soone was standing behind , but seeing how they were practically doing everything in their power to distract , I didn’t want to take this risk anymore.
I tightened my hold on the dagger in my pocket, reading to strike the sharp object at anyone who would dare to attack .
"For soone to be able to co this far, you are quite cunning and the control you have over your desires is marvelous. Tell us, what makes you seek us?" Another voice ca, and this ti Aurora didn’t say anything about not answering the witch.
Thus, I waited for a few seconds before taking a deep breath.
"Nothing," I said.
"Nothing?" The witch asked , and I nodded my head, unsure if my answer was going to offend them since I practically was disturbing their fine for nothing.
"Hmm," I smiled sheepishly, and it wasn’t long before I saw three witches, just like the ones I saw while coming here, appear right in front of out of the blue.
I looked at them with wide eyes, their beauty, and aura unparalleled.
"We are not able to understand you, kid. Did we hear it right? You ca here, risked everything for nothing?" The witches asked, and I nodded.
