VALENCIA’S POV
"Co again," The witch in the golden dress asked again, and I smiled sheepishly.
Well, I didn’t think much about how I would convince things to them and present my wish in a way that wouldn’t sound offensive either.
"Well, as you can see, I have never t or seen a witch in real life. So when I heard from the rogues that -"
I narrowed my brows.
Why was it getting so hot in here?
Without thinking twice, I took off my jacket since the people standing in front of were females only.
They looked at with quirked brows and I cleared my throat.
"As I was saying, I just wanted to see you guys. I an, what does a real witch look like and how do they perform magic," I said, blinking my eyes innocently, hoping it would work on these witches too.
The witches looked at each other as if still trying to figure out while I stood in front of them with a smile on my face.
"Huh, we don’t even know what to say to you. Never have we t a gutsy girl like you and don’t even know if we should call you brave or just plain stupid. Do you think mainland witches are so calm?" The witch in the blue gown who has been quiet since earlier said.
"Are you guys not the mainland witches? Well, if that’s the case, it’s of no use," I said before I looked up in the sky.
"Happy! Let’s go," I said to nothing in particular, well aware that my bird was probably flying there sowhere.
"Happy? You brought soone with you?" The witches asked, and I pouted.
"It doesn’t matter anymore," I said to them before I turned around to leave.
However, I had taken only a few steps when the witches suddenly spoke again.
"That mark on your back..." they trailed off, and I turned briefly to look at them, waiting to see if they had anything more to say.
"That mark, is it real?" The witch in the violet gown asked before she made her way towards .
I saw her extending her hand towards , and I flinched inwardly, making her pause.
"I am not going to harm you in any way. I promise. Can I have a look?" She asked, and I looked at Aurora who rolled her eyes at .
’What are you looking at for? I told you it was a bad idea to co here, but no. You always do whatever your instincts tell you, don’t you?’ She scolded .
I pressed my lips into a thin line, pouting inwardly when I didn’t get any help from my wolf.
However, she sighed and rolled her eyes before nodding at .
"Okay," I said before turning around for the witches to be able to see my birthmark.
"The left one?" The witches looked at each other, and I narrowed my brows at them.
What did they an by the left one? I was the right one here.
"If that’s all," I said before starting to walk again.
"We are them," I heard one of the witches speak again, and I furrowed my brows before looking at the witches with raised brows.
What did they an they were them?
"We are the mainland witches. You ca to et us, didn’t you? What did you want to see? Is performing magic tricks?" The witch asked before she clicked her fingers towards the sky.
"I can’t believe you are doing this," the other witch chuckled at the one wearing the violet dress and ...
Wait. Why haven’t they told their nas already? It’s so difficult talking in my mind while calling them through the dress code.
"I am Matilda," The witch in the blue gown said, and I humd.
"Valencia Brooklyn," I extended my hand but thinking who would shake it, and it might get a little awkward to shake every witch’s hand, I was about to retreat when the witch standing the closest to , extended her hand and shook it.
"I am Miranda," The witch in the violet gown said, and I nodded at her.
"And I am Mrinalini," the witch with the golden gown said, and I looked into the sky when a rainbow appeared out of nowhere, making furrow my brows.
Seriously? Do these witches think they were appeasing so kind of kid by acting like this? I wanted to see sothing lethal, not this kid’s gaplay.
"Good good," I nodded with a fake smile on my face since I didn’t want to offend them.
No matter how comforting they were, they still were the mainland witches, and I didn’t want to get on their bad side.
"You are not satisfied, are you?" Mrinalini said, and I pressed my lips into a thin line.
However, before I could show any kind of reaction, she extended her hand and pointed towards the sky.
Thinking she did so kind of air trick again, I was about to raise my hand in the sky again when I felt my body rising.
I widened my eyes as what looked like rollerskates appeared on my foot out of nowhere.
In front of , a long trail-like thing of pure ice ford and they moved along that ice path, taking to the sky and then bringing down.
I gulped, afraid I would fall if I didn’t look in front.
"Trust us, and let your fears go," Miranda said, and I looked into her eyes before sighing.
"This is the ice of trust. You trust it, it will never let you fall. You let your trust waiver, you fall," Matilda whispered and I gulped.
They were asking to trust this ice that was nothing less than a rollercoaster ride.
I think I should give it a try. Even if I fell, my happiness would save , right? I told myself before spreading my hands like wings and closing my eyes.
I let the winds caress my cheeks freely, enjoying every turn before I felt sothing caress my hand, and I opened my eyes, widening them again when I noticed I was in the clouds.
What the hell?
I looked down, fear gripping my heart again.
Result?
I lost my balance on the rollerskates and the ice under my foot broke.
"Woaaahhh! Happy!" I shouted at the top of my lungs, and just like I had guessed, my bird ca out of the blue to hold , spreading his wings to full length to protect , but before I could land on top of the bird, the ice ford again, and I scowled at the witches who looked like they were smiling at .
They were surely taking revenge on for disturbing their peaceful ti.
I was about to sigh and continue my adventure when out of the blue Happy snarled in his birdy voice and before I could react I saw a flow of fire thrown toward the witch.
I looked at the scene in front of with wide eyes.
Did Happy really throw fire at the witches because they were making things hard for ?
They were witches for fuck’s sake.
"What the hell?" Witch Mrinalini who had created a shield in front of her looked at Happy angrily, and before things could turn sour, I quickly jumped on the ground as soon as I neared it.
"Happy!" I yelled before spreading my arms.
The bird quickly ca to , shrinking its size and I hid it in my arms, protecting it under my jacket as it placed its head on my chest, probably fearing the witches.
"Don’t hurt him," I said to the witches, looking at them with a hopeful expression.
Though I never did it, I was ready to beg them too if it ant saving his life because in these two days, I developed a bond with him, and at the end of the day, he did it all for , didn’t he?
’They won’t hurt him. They don’t have that kind of authority to hurt the ancient bird that revolves around the angels and has been in hereditary power of the one,’ Aurora suddenly said, and though her words didn’t make any sense, I felt a sense of relief in my heart at her words.
I looked at the witches, who shook their heads at collectively.
"Seriously? First the mark, and now the ancient bird, what else are you hiding inside you? An ancient once-in-a-lifeti wolf who can beco the death of the thousands of not taken care of?" The witches asked , and I pressed my lips into a thin line at their potential mockery.
"It’s nothing like that. Please forgive him," I said and they sighed.
"We are not going to punish him. However, you better keep it in control. Just because we are easygoing doesn’t an other witches would be too. Also, how can you even let it fly so freely around you? Don’t you know the kind of danger it possesses?" The witches asked .
I looked at my Happy who was still leaning against my chest, making tighten my hold on him.
He possesses no danger to .
