VALENCIA’S POV
I walked to the forest regions, where the rogue head of the northern areas said he would be available.
’Luna, are you sure he will be here? It’s been fifteen minutes since we arrived, but there are no signs of him,’ Bora said through Bluetooth.
I looked around, and she was indeed correct.
However, I agreed to Maverick’s words and brought around ten males and five female wolves to tackle if anything went wrong.
I was wondering if that was going to work in my favor.
Despite being the rogue head of the northern regions and one of the well-known rogues, he was still a rogue, and Maverick’s team was known to have hated rogues for a long ti.
What if he doesn’t show up because he knows I ca with a small troop?
Hearing leaves rustling at so distance, I turned in the direction before stepping ahead.
I gazed at what looked like a letter and raised my brows.
’Hello, beautiful,’ The note said.
I heard another rustling of leaves at my right and turned in the direction.
I gathered the second note that said, ’I see you still don’t trust . Do you think these people will be able to stop from taking you away if I want?’
I cleared my throat.
It was evident that the rogue head was here and was watching .
I sighed.
"You are clearly watching . Do you think I have that kind of ti on my hands? I respect you enough to co to et you even when I should’ve been the one to call you. Can’t you respect a little and appear? They are not here to harm you," I said.
I heard another rustling of leaves and rolled my eyes, suppressing the urge to groan.
I walked in the direction, expecting another note.
However, when I did not see a note this ti, I turned on my heels and was about to walk further when I heard a clicking sound as soon as I stepped forward.
I knew sothing was wrong as soon as I heard the sound.
What the-
I fell into the pit and thought I would land on the hard, cold floor or probably into sothing more dangerous.
But even after a few seconds, I didn’t feel any pain and opened my eyes, removing my fingers from my face when I realized soone was holding .
I looked at the familiar masked man and glared at him.
"What the hell?" I glared at him.
Rather than putting down, he chuckled before walking ahead, and I realized this wasn’t a pit.
It was a well-thought-out pathway that led sowhere, explaining how he was already standing below it, waiting for to fall.
"You know you can put down," I said.
The rogue head gazed at through his masked face and humd.
"I can, but I don’t want to soil your cute little feet, kitten," Axile said, and I raised my brows.
Hold on; there is no way he knows I transford into my cat and tiger form, right?
He smiled and nodded as if he already knew what I was thinking.
"Didn’t I tell you? I know almost everything about you," he said, and I didn’t feel too good anymore.
At this point, he was a certified stalker. How could he know of sothing that even Maverick took so long to figure out or that the council still didn’t know?
"Don’t worry. I can see Maverick’s mark on you, and won’t try anything obscene. I am a man of culture," Axile said before placing down as soon as we entered a room.
I looked at around thirty n, who looked at warily, as if I was here to take their position, and cleared my throat.
"You may leave," Axile said.
"But sir, she is a pack wolf and brought her people. What if they attack us?" one of the n asked.
I nodded. He has a valid point. Why didn’t I think of it?
"She wouldn’t have been here if she wanted to do that. Besides, she is soone I owe my life to. She can take it anyti she wants," Axile said, his gaze not moving away from my face, and I averted my gaze.
Why was he acting like I was his god or sothing?
’He is hot,’ Aurora comnted, and I nearly choked on my saliva.
’Aurora! We are marked, and I love Maverick! How can you call another man hot?’ I scolded her, and she shrugged before giving an attitude and sitting with her back to .
’I will call a man hot if he is hot. Even if he is my brother, what is hot will remain hot,’ She retorted, and I sighed before looking at Axile.
So of the n left, but those who were persistent about his safety stayed, and I didn’t mind. They had all the reasons to protect their leader, who took care of them and put food on their plates daily.
"So let’s co straight to the business," I said before I pulled out the pendant from around my neck.
I saw Axile’s eyes crinkling into a smile before he removed his mask, and I cleared my throat.
"You are still wearing my pendant," he whispered, a sense of pride and happiness, and I humd.
"It’s a beautiful pendant. But I want to know more about it. Where did you get it from?" I asked.
Axile furrowed his brows.
"What do you an? Where did I get it from? Didn’t I answer it last ti? It was around my neck from the mont I was found. This is mine. My rogue caretaker said that this was the last sovereign from my parents to . Though I never tried to find them. People who abandon their child don’t deserve that kind of effort," Axile said.
His gaze darkened when he said the last words, and I leaned back into my seat.
"And what if the parents are helpless and things turn out like this?" I asked.
Axile scoffed.
"No circumstances can force the parents to give their children away. I don’t believe your words," he said.
His voice turned cold, and he looked pretty resilient with his theory. I am sure he had hated his parents for his life as a rogue for quite so ti for him to talk like this.
"You should trust my words because you don’t know enough if you don’t. Do you know I am the daughter of the Luna of the Phoenix blood pack? In the attack that happened around 18 years ago, my parents sacrificed their lives to protect ," I said.
Axile, who had a cold expression earlier, said straight, his pupils dilated.
I sighed and told them how angry I was when I found out those bullies weren’t my parents, and I suffered uselessly until I found out how my parents fought till their last breath to provide with this life.
That is why it has beco my motive to live my life best. I even want to reunite the Phoenix blood pack.
"Have you had any success finding those people? I an, the remaining mbers of the Phoenix blood pack?" He asked , and I shook my head.
I told him that my team was onto it and was still trying to find clues. However, the interruption from the rogue head of the southern regions and his attempts to complicate our lives have delayed things.
"Had the thought of fighting the rogue head of southern regions never crossed your mind? I an, aren’t you the good guy?" I asked.
Axile looked at for an extended period before he leaned back into his chair.
He smirked at before smiling.
"Do you think I am a good guy?" He asked, and I nodded confidently.
He humd.
"I never thought about fighting him because we are rogues, and I don’t want to put my people in a battle that isn’t ours. They never dared to offend us," he answered.
I nodded in understanding.
That indeed made sense.
Those rogues and the pack mbers don’t bother to ddle with the rogues of the northern regions because they believe in peaceful living.
Most of the rogues spread across the world and studying or working among pack mbers are from the northern regions.
’You are drifting from the topic,’ Aurora reminded , and I cleared my throat.
Right.
I wasn’t here to talk to him about rogues.
"Do you rember anything from your childhood? Like anything drastic?" I asked.
Axile looked at his people, who this ti left ticulously, and the man sighed.
He covered his face with his hands as if trying to rember sothing.
"Just blood and screams. I often have dreams about them. Just like you have nightmares of Eidolon, I have nightmares of a particular night where everyone is screaming to run away and trying to save their lives," Axile said.
I sat there frozen when I realized what was happening.
Theo said that this pendant had royal significance and was the heirloom of the king.
What Axile rembers is probably the night of the historical rogue attack.
