VALENCIA’S POV

I walked into the back garden of the royal palace, enjoying the feeling that the fresh air was bringing.

I took two whiffs of the flower I was holding, which the council had sent. It was the special flower that was calming my nerves these days, as my body was going through multiple changes, especially after I started living with Alpha Maverick.

It was hard to decipher if the sudden change in my body was due to our love-making sessions, as my hormones were constantly provoked around him, or if it was related to the awakening of the devil.

The environnt and weather here were slightly chilly compared to the Dark Callisto pack, and the light sunlight fanning my skin made a little happier even when I knew what kind of people I was surrounded with.

"Miss Valencia," I heard the sa cacophonic voice, hindering my pleasure, and I suppressed the urge to roll my eyes.

I turned around before looking at Sean, who had been walking with to keep protected.

"It would be alright," I told him, but the man did not budge from his position.

"I respect you, Luna, but Alpha said not to let you out of my sight so that no one can even touch you, let alone harm you," Sean said.

I saw the smile on Dilbar’s face falter a little, making sigh inwardly.

"Well, it can’t be helped then," I told him before giving the royal princess my full attention.

"Are you here to take a walk?" I asked, striking up a normal conversation.

"Kind of. I also wanted to spend so ti with you to see what kind of woman finally captured Alpha Maverick’s, the beast’s heart," Dilbar said.

I knew what she was trying to do, and honestly, I wanted to let her enjoy that smugness.

You can only belittle a person who is ready to be belittled. On the other hand, I had an ego beyond that.

"Is that so?" I asked, and the princess nodded.

"I also heard that the council sent you a specially designed flower bouquet, and they do it almost daily. So it made curious why you were being treated so specially," She asked.

"Curious or jealous?" I asked.

I saw her pausing in her steps, obviously not expecting to say such words, and Sean coughed, making smile.

"Flowers are a girl’s best friend. It was indeed a bad move from the council to send one to the royal Kingdom and not address you at the sa ti. They treat especially because I am one of them and the daughter of their forr true council head," I smiled.

Dilbar nodded at as she looked at the flower in my hand.

"Can I see?" She asked.

I extended my hand towards her.

She grabbed the flower, and as soon as she did that, we heard the sizzling sound of sothing burning. I watched in surprise as her hand burned slightly, making her leave the flower imdiately.

I tilted my head, looking at her carefully.

Apart from working on other things, I was also studying the properties of this flower. Not only was it calming and increasing my ntal and emotional strength, but the flower also contained a truth serum.

However, this flower had nothing that I could call harmful to other werewolves.

Have I made a mistake in my study?

"What the hell?" Dilbar held her hand as she looked at the burn mark in pure shock.

"Miss Dilbar!" So maids rushed to her, and she was imdiately taken away.

Dilbar turned to look at briefly as she left, and I raised my brows at the provocative, angered look.

What was my fault?

"Can you bear a little pain?" I asked Sean, who looked at in confusion before nodding.

"Grab that flower," I said.

Sean followed my orders and picked the flower.

There was no similar sizzling sound or a burning mark on his skin.

"How do you feel?" I asked.

"It’s a beautiful flower," Sean comnted.

I humd before taking a deep breath.

"Will you inform Maverick about this?" I asked, and the silence I received in return was enough to let know.

I sighed, not in the mood to enjoy the sunlight anymore.

With a sigh, I was about to walk inside the royal palace when I saw a few cars pulling up.

There must have been so alphas and Lunas who had arrived for the royal ball.

I stood there for so ti, watching all the alphas stepping out individually and taking their Luna’s hands.

It was a good sight indeed.

"I didn’t know he was invited," Sean’s words caught my attention, and I looked at a particular alpha who had stepped out last.

"What about him?" I asked.

"That’s Alpha Zade. You can say that our alpha and that man aren’t too fond of each other," Sean said.

I looked at the so-called alpha my man wasn’t fond of.

He was one handso man. There was no doubt about it. He had siren-like amber eyes and brown hair with a lock falling on his forehead, adding to his pretty face and sharp jawline.

Since he was here without a woman, I guessed he hadn’t found his Luna yet.

"Though I don’t bla him either," Sean added, sparking my curiosity even more.

Why was it that their alpha did not like a man, and he was pitying him instead?

"What do you an?" I asked.

"His Luna rejected him when they found each other on one of the alphas et. She was the daughter of the Alpha of the Moon Blood pack. After rejecting Alpha Zade, she proposed to be the mate of our alpha before everyone. It was a hot sensation back then," Sean said.

I raised my brows.

Well, wasn’t this interesting news?

"And what did Alpha Maverick do?" I asked, smiling.

Sean looked at with an amused expression.

"You already know. He rejected her brutally, leaving her no face. That’s what bothers the alpha the most. That our alpha rejected his Luna, who rejected him for our alpha," Sean said.

I furrowed my brows.

"Well, that’s quite twisted," I answered.

"She would be here," Sean said, looking at intensely.

I understood what he was trying to say, and I mused.

"Should I be worried?" I asked.

"Do you want to be?" The voice of my man echoed from behind.

I licked my bottom lip while Sean imdiately bowed to and the man behind before leaving wittily.

I turned and looked at the man who was wearing a black corset and a blue shirt inside it.

His sleeves were rolled to his elbows, showing his veiny hands that I so wanted to be wrapped around my throat.

A shaky breath left my mouth as I took in his features, falling in love all over again.

Now I know why I used to read those dark romance books. I always had a thing for such a dangerous, dark, romancromanticof man.

"I don’t even want to know what kind of thoughts are running inside your head after observing your gaze. I am afraid I will get lost in them and take you for another round," Maverick said, placing his forehead on mine.

I smiled before pulling back.

"We have an audience, Alpha Maverick," I whispered.

"And only matter to among everyone," He answered before snaking his arm around my waist, pulling closer.

"I heard what happened," Maverick said.

I pressed my lips into a thin line.

"Nothing happened to Sean, though. I don’t understand," I admitted.

It was one of the hardest things for because I was such a proud person, but this ti, I was clueless even after studying the flower and its features for so long.

"It’s okay. You don’t need to fret over it. I will have it sent to the laboratory, okay?" He asked, cupping my cheeks.

I nodded before kissing the middle of his palm.

"Will they make things hard for you because of ? I an, she got hurt because of ," I asked, genuinely worried.

I didn’t want the royals to say anything to Maverick because of this incident. We were investigating a more significant matter, and any hindrance between it would only prove all our other efforts useless.

"I am sorry. It’s all because of—"

"Sshh," Maverick placed his finger over my lips to shush .

"Did I ask you to apologize?" he asked.

I shook my head.

"Then you don’t. You don’t apologize to , my wolf, or anyone because no one is above you, my queen," Maverick said before he bent on his left knee and pulled out a box.

I raised my eyes at him.

"What are you doing?" I asked, but rather than answering, he gestured for to open the box, which I did with a smile.

Inside the box were two long hanging earrings with blood drops on the top.

"Did you like it?" He asked.

"When do you even have ti to buy such things?" I asked, and he smiled.

"I will always have ti for you, my love. Everything is important, but you are the most important. You are my world," He whispered and stood, kissing my forehead.

"Tyler will be here later. Don’t worry. He won’t be able to co near you," Maverick said.

I clenched my fists around his shirt, feeling my heart skip a beat at the mory.

It was almost my heat ti again, and I knew it would cause trouble again. I sighed.
