VALENCIA’S POV

"et in half an hour in the forest. I have sothing to discuss and decide," I said to Dylan before walking towards the apartnt I was living in with Maverick.

"You took your ti," Maverick looked at as I saw him placing the dishes on the dining table.

Seeing him setting the table, I didn’t know why, but for a second, I got the feeling that I was one of those unworthy and unfaithful husbands who hid stuff from their wives, and he was the innocent wife who was oblivious to her husband’s affair.

The thought made cringe at myself.

’Tell him,’ Aurora said, and I approached him.

"Maverick, I’ll have to leave," I said, and he paused.

"I figured that much. Can you at least eat before leaving?" He asked.

I furrowed my brows. What did he an he figured that much?

"Your vibes are apologetic. As the beast alpha, you know my senses are keener than others. Besides, I wanted to call you, but your phone was constantly busy so I went out to call you as you don’t like food getting cold. But I heard you saying you’ll be there. So you are leaving," Maverick sighed before clinging his fists around the chair.

I walked to him and placed my hand over his, squeezing his hand.

"Do you trust ?" I asked.

The feeling of being a manipulative husband ca back, and I suppressed the urge to massage my forehead.

He raised his gaze and looked at with emotions swirling.

I know what he must be thinking. I was leaving as soon as my heat phase was over. It was almost similar to leaving him once I was alright and his need was over.

I also know he got attached to in these three days because we bonded more than just having sex. It was like a connection that felt more realistic than anything I have ever felt with anyone.

"I do," he cupped my cheeks and pulled closer.

"Can you eat before leaving?" He asked , and I nodded at him.

We sat on the table, my heart warming when he grabbed my hand in his and didn’t let go.

It was almost as if he could sense I was leaving for a long ti, even without telling him about it.

Should I really tell him? But the chances he wouldn’t let go were higher. And it was important to save Theo’s life too. If Maverick got even the slightest hint I was leaving to go to the Caribbean’s Den Pack, he would do anything to stop from leaving, and I didn’t want that.

Let Dylan make Maverick understand things. That was the best option I had.

Once I was done eating, which I hurriedly did, Maverick offered to drop at the forest where I was going to et Dylan, but I denied it.

"Will you be gone for long?" He asked , searching for the answer in my eyes, and I averted my gaze.

"It’s a mission. I am not sure. I just take these missions until I beco a part of anyone’s pack or find my troop," I said, and Maverick humd before he bent and kissed my forehead.

"I love you," He said.

My heart thumped loudly in my chest, and I nodded at him in understanding, still not ready to confess anything to him.

I like you too. I said inwardly, looking him straight in the eyes, hoping he would see the love for himself in my eyes because that was the only thing I could offer right now.

"I’ll wait," Maverick said, still dropping at so distance. I walked towards the forests, feeling a weird emotion clawing at my heart.

It was almost as if I was leaving sothing behind. Like sothing I should’ve done. This mission... What if I don’t make it alive? Do I want to die with this regret of not having said the words that I could’ve?

I turned to look at the man.

I walked back to him, his furrowed brows, making smile at him.

"I am going to fuck you hard and raw when I return," I said, more like claid, and he chuckled at before shaking his head.

"You know it’s supposed to be the other way around, right?" He asked, and I nodded.

"I know. I don’t care. Just know... I..." I paused.

"It’s okay if you can’t say it now," Maverick consoled , but I shook my head.

No. It was one of the most dangerous parts of the world. I might not even return if things turned bad for real.

"I will do it. Give so ti," I whispered before stepping close to him.

"I... *Sigh*... I like you, Maverick," I whispered, and the man smiled back at .

He bent and placed his lips on mine, capturing my lips in a longing kiss before he pushed away.

"Leave now, or I won’t be able to see you go," Maverick whispered, and I nodded.

Turning around with my heart much at ease, I walked inside the forests, spotting Dylan at so distance.

"Was that Maverick who dropped you?" Dylan asked , and I humd.

"Well, I guess I don’t have to worry about your wish being unhinged since you have his permission or agreent in this," Dylan said.

I felt a bit ashad to be using both of them and keeping them oblivious to the major truth, but it was what the ti needed and demanded from .

"Before speaking of the important matter, I must let you know this mission is crucial for , and I am not playing when I say this," I said, looking around to see no one was listening to our conversations.

"What is it?" Dylan asked, getting a little serious now.

"I have been preparing an army of rogues," I dropped the first bomb on him, and seeing how his pupils dilated and he looked at as if I was so kind of stranger, I knew he wasn’t ready for the next truth at all.

"And my army consists of 3 alpha wolves. One of them has been captured because of stupidity as he was trying to look for my people from the phoenix blood pack and now I need to save them. Before you ask more questions, the pack I am talking about is Caribbean’s Den Pack," I said, dropping the information on Dylan one after the other.

He was shocked.

I could see it on his face.

"I don’t understand the rest of it, but just this pack na is enough for to stop you. You’ll walk out of here over my dead body," Dylan said, and I pursed my lips.

I knew this was going to be hard.
