VALENCIA’S POV

"Give a mont; I have to make a call," I said to Maverick when he returned after making his call. I was about to walk out, but he held my hand.

"You can do it here. If you want so privacy, I can go out," Maverick said.

I didn’t say anything. I just kept looking at him, smiling when his pupils dilated in realization.

"Seriously? You think I have this place tapped, and I will get to know what you talked to and whom you talked to?" Maverick asked with clear disbelief in his eyes.

I shrugged.

"Even though I am with you for the mont, Aloha Maverick, let’s not forget I am still a council mber who sotis works for them as a spy. It’s protocol," I said.

Maverick rolled his eyes at before leaving my hand.

"Just tell what you want to eat so I can order it. I know one restaurant that serves marvelous food, and you would love it for sure," He said.

Before leaving the apartnt, I told him what I would prefer and was ok with anything vegetarian.

’Don’t you think it’s quite ironic? You only eat vegetarian food, but don’t shy away from drinking blood either,’ Aurora comnted, and I glared at her.

’And whose fault is that I have to drink blood?’ I asked her, making her look down at her feet with a shy, naughty smile.

With a sigh, I looked around once I entered the park right before the building where Maverick’s apartnt was.

Dialing Theo’s number, I furrowed my brows when no one answered.

It looks like he is busy. I was about to end the call when soone picked up the call just at the end of the ring.

No one said anything.

"It’s ," I said, unsure if he wanted to confirm whether I was calling him or soone else.

"A lady? I thought so man would call you, but it looks like you have your fair share of won, too," I heard an unfamiliar voice, and all the good vibes left my body imdiately.

"Why do you have his phone?" I asked, not taking Theo’s na as I was unsure who this man was and how much he learned about Theo.

I didn’t want to take any chances or do anything that would worsen things for him.

"Well, your precious man is under our custody, taking quite a beating for doing sothing he shouldn’t have," the man said.

I inhaled sharply.

He got caught.

"Where is he? What is his cri? Who are you, and where are you located?" I asked the questions, not wanting to waste much ti.

The man on the other side chuckled. It wasn’t just him. His phone was probably on speaker, and I could hear his laugh, followed by multiple laughs.

"A curious one, aren’t you? Are you planning on coming here to save this guy? How heart-touching," the man said.

I clenched my teeth.

"Where is he?" I asked again, and the man sighed.

"Caribbean’s den Pack. You know the place?" The man asked.

I froze in my place.

Caribbean’s Den Pack? The pack was situated near the beaches of the darkest and deadliest forests.

They were known to have made a pact with the forest spirits, who would not allow foreign people to even approach them, let alone attack them.

They have always lived in seclusion, and though people knew about the pack and the alpha, he was rarely invited to the Alphas’ eting.

The pack and its people were completely desolated from the other packs and people.

The pack mbers weren’t even allowed to leave their packs to find a mate.

If one didn’t find his mate in the pack, they were forced to choose one after a particular age so that the genes and legacy stay in the pack.

They do not allow new people inside their pack or allow their people to join any other pack, even if they want to. Their alphas and council’s words were the ultimate authority for them.

It was what the forest spirits asked of them: loyalty, utmost loyalty, in return for the protection they provided to them.

Massaging my forehead, I sighed.

What the hell was Theo doing in that kind of forbidden region?

"Mmm!" I could hear Theo’s struggling form.

They probably gagged him or taped his mouth so he wouldn’t be able to speak to . For him to struggle to talk, I knew what he wanted to say to .

Do not go there and do anything to save him.

"You want to talk to your man?" The man asked.

I took a deep breath.

"No need. Just tell him I will be there," I said to the man before ending the call.

I slumped back onto the bench.

I told him I would be there to save him, but how was I supposed to do it?

Wait. Tory should know what made Theo go there in the first place. I need to know the severity of the matter and plead with them to let him go if nothing works.

I dialed Tory’s number, who picked up the call on the first ring.

"Valencia, thank the goddess. You finally saw the ssage. Sothing happened—" Tory started, but I interrupted him.

I didn’t have that kind of ti to waste on the repetition of words.

"The Caribbean’s Den Pack has captured Theo," I said, and Tory paused.

He didn’t say anything, and I sighed.

"Why?" I asked, getting straight to the point, and Tory knew not to waste my ti.

"We were searching for the people of your Phoenix blood pack. Theo said he had so kind of work near the beach, and I thought he wouldn’t make the mistake of going near those forests. But then I rembered..." Tory paused.

He rembered what?

"What?" I narrowed my brows.

"The reason he beca a rogue and left his pack in the first place," Tory said.

Honestly, I was starting to hate how he was talking in breaks and not saying everything in one go.

I was already angry, and this was infuriating even more.

"Can you co clean with it? As far as I rember, his pack got attacked by the rogues, and he left his alpha position because he was forced out," I said.

However, this theory has always made wonder if this is true. How could Tory and Theo have the sa theories behind them leaving the packs and turning to rogues?

"That’s not the entire truth. The reason his pack was attacked was because he left his alpha’s position a long ti ago. He had gone to the beaches near the Caribbean’s Den Pack to find the Blue Coral because he had a habit of collecting antiques," Tory said.

He told that when Theo was probably trying to find the coral, he went too close to those deadliest forests because he felt weirdly attracted to them.

It turned out that his mate was in the Caribbean’s Den Pack. The girl was probably roaming the forests at that ti and knew not to cross them because of the strict rules.

However, she crossed the boundary when she slt his scent and found out her mate was outside the forest, driven by her wolf.

Because the alpha legacy made a pact with the deadliest forests, they were imdiately notified about the girl breaking the laws.

She only crossed the first boundary but never the last layer of the forests. The person who entered the forbidden forests was Theo.

Theo saw his mate.

She was beautiful and looked like an enchantress because they lived well and were protected by the forest’s spirits.

He had hugged her and told her how much he yearned to see her, and the girl was equally happy.

With her permission, he wanted to kiss and Mark her then and there, but before he could say anything, the pack’s alpha and his team reached the place.

They looked at the girl who was in Theo’s arms.

Like all the alphas, he also heard the rumors about this pack. He thought telling them he was an alpha would save him so trouble. Theo was right in thinking that, but who would’ve thought he was going to lose sothing even more precious that day?

Since the alpha didn’t want to cause more trouble for himself and the alpha, he didn’t do anything to Theo; instead, he beheaded the girl right before him.

To say Theo shattered then and there would be an understatent.

Seeing his mate’s death, which he had been looking for for so long, was horrific to him.

He wasn’t even allowed to hold her body. They threw him out of the forests that magically closed and didn’t let him inside.

After that, Theo lost his mind for so ti. What kind of alpha would he be if he couldn’t protect his mate? With this thought, he left the alpha’s position and the pack on its own, making the beta the new alpha.

The rogues, constantly preying on weak alphas, saw this opportunity and attacked his pack as soon as he left.

Theo didn’t know his leaving would cause the death of nearly 200 wolves of his pack. But could it be turn back ti? That was why he remained a rogue and agreed to join her team and create an army of rogues. He thought that by helping helpless rogues, he could get rid of so of his sins.

As I heard the complete story, I took a deep, shaky breath.
