VALENCIA’S POV
"Is everything alright?" Aiden asked as soon as I plopped back into my chair with a scowl.
Apart from the fact that I just got threatened, a particularly scary alpha, known for his deep-rooted hatred for the rogues, just indirectly told they would hunt down if I tried to run away, and most importantly, I knew that every word he said was probably right and he really won’t hesitate to pull out my heart? Yeah. Everything was perfectly fine.
I wanted to say all those words to him but then took a deep breath to calm my raging heart.
"Everything is good. He just wanted to ask if I was okay with the arrangents and told that he chose because I had the worst credits in the class and wanted to help a little," I said before forcing a smile at him.
Aiden looked at as if he didn’t believe a word I said. But he didn’t comnt on that and just nodded before leaning back, his hand instinctively going behind my chair.
This was one weird habit of his. Sitting with his hand on my chair as if he was trying to protect from sothing all the ti.
In my initial days, I was almost skeptical about it because my body and my senses were quite sensitive and reactive to everyone’s approach, especially after living in the wild for four months.
However, I soon got accustod to it.
"After college, are you free this evening? A cafe opened near our college recently. Let’s check their nu," Aiden said casually.
As soon as he ended his sentence, I was about to tell him that I had things to handle because I was planning to move into my lake house, but before I could say anything, Tracy interrupted us.
"That’s one way of asking her on a date, Aiden. Hmmm, how long are you going to hide behind the pretense of checking nus?" Tracy wriggled her brows.
I felt a little blush rising to my cheeks when I understood what she was trying to say.
It was true that Aiden and I have gone to quite a few restaurants together, but none of us ever considered it a date. It was just that, checking how the food tasted there.
"Why are you so jealous of that? If you want to go and eat too, just say so," Aiden said, his calm expression making Tracy roll her eyes since she didn’t get the kind of reaction she was hoping for from the usually calm and collected Aiden.
She really thought she would be able to catch him off-guard with this one.
"It can be a date too. Would you like to go on a coffee date with ?" Aiden suddenly turned his attention to , his hand pulling my chair closer, and I looked at him, a little wide-eyed.
Well, I won’t lie, though Aiden wasn’t as handso as a particular man that has made my heart flutter recently, he was a fine species with his own admirable features.
"I... " I stuttered, and he shalessly raised his hand to tuck my hair behind my ears.
"Don’t fret. I won’t ask you for a kiss. Yet," Aiden spoke with little amusent dancing in his eyes and I realized just how big of a flirt this man really was.
Was that exactly why girls swooned over him? Not only did he have admirable features, he was a gangster’s boy, quite cruel and rowdy I must say, but he had good communication skills too.
I an, look at this human, making a werewolf’s heart flutter like this.
"Say yes. Say yes, Say yes," The people around us started to whisper, and I felt even more embarrassed being in a spot like this.
’What are you waiting for? Just say yes. We don’t normally find guys who treat us this well. Yes, there are quite many suitors, but they need to have so qualifications too,’ Aurora chid and remarked shalessly, making sigh.
’Why are you pressing on the matter? You know it shouldn’t be like this especially not when a particular alpha and his beta called Shadow is onto ,’ I glared at my wolf.
"What is your answer, doll?" Aiden asked, his gaze intense.
I swear I was on the verge of deciding if he would appreciate my presence as an Annabelle doll because I was surely not the Barbie type.
I was about to ask him to quit saying useless words when we were interrupted by soone clearing his throat.
His voice has been etched so deeply inside that even without looking back and slling his intoxicating scent, just him clearing his throat was enough to tell who it was.
Without wasting a second, I raised my gaze and t his haughty ones.
"If you guys are done wasting the class’s ti, should we get back to studies?" He asked, his gaze a clear question.
’So not only are you breaking laws by studying in the human University, you are even thinking of dating a human?’
I was a little scared to see how this would turn out. It wasn’t exactly a taboo to date a human if he/she turns out to be your mate.
However, with soone who is already breaking laws like , it would surely be frowned upon. Not that I was thinking of actually dating soone, but still, I hated that there were so many restrictions on .
"Sure, sir," I said, disdainfully.
I had no plans to say yes to Aiden when he asked about his plans like he was asking for a date, but sothing about the haughty gaze of this beta made want to do what he didn’t like.
"Miss Valencia, distribute these sheets to the students," He walked back to the podium, and I rolled my eyes at his childish trick.
Just say that you want to scold again. I pouted.
I walked there, ready to take the bundle of papers when he suddenly made freeze in my place with his gaze. For a beta, he surely executed a dominating stance, quite dominating than most of the alphas I have t.
"Are you planning on going on a date?" He asked casually.
"Why do you care? Don’t tell I can’t have a boyfriend. It’s not like I am a pure werewolf," I said those words softly, and he smiled at .
And it was one of THOSE smiles! The smiles that promise you nothing good.
"I don’t care about it. Just let know where you guys are going. After all, as the protocol says, soone from our pack should follow you to keep a tab on your affairs," Shadow said, and I looked at him dumbfounded.
He was kidding , right? There was no way he was hoping for to believe such an atrocious arrangent.
"You have to be kidding ," I whispered, more like hissed in his face,
"One thing about that you should know, Miss Valencia, is that I don’t kid. Since I am free, I don’t think I’ll have a problem going with you. I an keeping a tab on you," Shadow said, the little smirk at the end of the sentence, making see his true intentions.
His words appeared more like a challenge, and I gritted my teeth.
He wanted to see if I would dare to go against the words of Alpha of the dark Callisto pack that even the council didn’t like to ddle with.
"You are not serious," I hissed, my fingernails digging in the sheets.
Shadow didn’t say anything. His face was as calm and collected as ever.
However, his eyes... How should I describe it? There was a storm brewing in those eyes, the kind of destructive storm that one wouldn’t want to encounter if they wanted to survive for a long ti.
"Want to try, moon?" He lowered his head, almost to eye level, and I stood there, frozen.
It wasn’t until I heard the sound of a pen dropping that I ca out of my trance and turned around to do the task assigned to .
What the hell was that? What kind of manipulative powers did that beta really have? For a second I almost felt suffocated and naked under his gaze. It was as if he could read my every lie and look under my very facade clearly.
A shudder ran down my spine as I thought about it.
He was one scary man for sure.
This... this wasn’t just about a lantern case that they suspected anymore. If my guess was right, they were suspecting of higher things and judging from what I saw last night near those forests, I would be damned if they were thinking I did sothing that I didn’t even do.
"Are you really alright? You look like you saw a ghost or sothing," Aiden said and I smiled bitterly.
Ghost? This was worst than seeing a ghost.
