ALPHA MAVERICK’S POV
"This concludes our eting for the day. We can discuss the follow-up routines of rogue inspection and security changes through video calls," I said before standing from my seat, making all the alphas stand at the sa ti.
Honestly speaking, I was tired as hell.
This one hour eting made more tired than four hours’ worth of training.
Leave Reaper, even I was feeling I needed a dose of Valencia’s love, her kisses, her hugs, her shy gazes, the way she keeps pushing away but her body only wants to draw close.
I wanted all of that and I would be lying if I said I didn’t want to mark her, throw her on my bed and just bury myself inside her for eternity already.
That was the kind of effect she was having on these days and nothing could call it a lie.
"Alpha Maverick,"
I heard a voice as soon as I nodded at everyone, ready to leave, and I closed my eyes, barely containing my annoyance from showing on my face because Reaper was only looking for a little loophole to snap at these alphas which was the last thing I wanted to happen.
"Yes, Alpha Tyler," I turned to look at the arrogant alpha, who was looking at with a genuine expression, and I sighed.
Was I being too harsh on the guy?
I shook my head before focusing my gaze back at him.
"I know you are probably very busy because of everything going around. However, I would still be happy if you could attend my engagent. This is the official and formal invitation from ," Tyler extended his hand and pulled out what looked like an invitation card.
I looked at the invitation card before humming.
"Are you allergic to troublemakers?" I looked into his eyes.
He looked at confused, probably not understanding the aning.
"I am sorry. I didn’t catch you there. Pardon?" He said.
"The partner who would be attending if I ca is quite a sight with quite a good attitude. Funny thing, I will take anything but her disrespect. That’s why I want to ensure this firsthand. Will you be able to handle a mischievous girl without disrespecting her?" I asked.
I could see a shadow looking at with wide eyes.
I know what I was doing was practically announcing to the world that I was interested in this girl after my mate rejected and left.
I knew things were going to be tough, especially when Valencia wasn’t ready to make things easy for , but sothing inside told I would do just fine with this and I was following that voice.
"That won’t be a problem, sir. I am sure she is a pretty woman," Tyler said.
I smiled, rembering the way she looked at with those teary eyes breathlessly because I kissed her for a bit too long.
She takes my breath away without even trying. Was she beautiful? She was the most enchanting she-wolf I have ever t even when I t my mate already.
I don’t know if it was because of how limited our interactions were or if it was because so much ti has passed, but I feel that I didn’t have this kind of connection and thrive for my real mate either, the kind of thrive I have for Valencia.
"She is. That’s the reason I will only bring her out in front of the world to announce she is mine just so that no one dares to like her or even breathe as much as the sa air as her," I said, my voice deepening with each word as Reaper tried to convey my words to everyone in the room.
I could see a little wariness and Alpha Tyler’s face, and I sighed before taking a deep breath.
"I will try to attend it. We have so business in that region anyway. Might as well see the situation with the northern species," I said before nodding at Shadow who imdiately followed out of the hall.
As soon as I sat inside my car, I looked at my ho screen, smiling at the photo of the girl who I was already calling my woman in front of everyone.
’Yeah, probably everyone in this world would know she is your woman apart from the girl itself. Are you sure you want to make her angry like this? She doesn’t like being owned. Haven’t you learned by now?’ Reaper asked, and I humd.
I dialed her number, waiting for her to pick up the call so that I could find out where the hell she was and why she ran away like that.
It wasn’t like she was going to give a valid good answer, but it would be sothing. At least, I would get to hear her answer.
As soon as I dialed her number, my phone vibrated with an incoming call and I gritted my teeth when I noticed whose number it was.
"Zishan," I said, already expecting a piece of bad news from this man since he always calls when it’s related to the security asures of things like that.
"Sir, I have bad news," The man said, and I closed my eyes.
Could this day go any worse without my woman?
First, it was the eting with those annoying alphas and now this?
I humd at Zishan to continue speaking about what it was as I opened one of the files submitted by the alpha.
"A body is found," he said and my hand paused as I was about to flip the page.
fгeewebnovёl
"What do you an?" I asked, confused.
"Sir, there is a girl’s body in the east borders of our pack-" Zishan hesitated and I knew this was bad.
"Details, Zishan," I whispered.
"Bruised, cut, sliced, hanging, probably raped too," Zishan said, and I closed my eyes, the wolf inside roaring in pure anger.
"A... A f-four year old, sir-"
Rrrrrr! The roar left my mouth before he could complete his sentence.
What the fuck did he say? A four-year-old girl’s body and in that condition?
Anger imdiately took over and without thinking twice, I got out of the car, changing into Reaper, my aura making all the alphas step back in fear.
However, I couldn’t care about anything anymore.
All I knew was that I was angry at everyone, at the torntors of that girl, my security who didn’t see it when the girl was being hanged, but more than that, at the moon goddess who allowed this to happen in the first place with a girl.
’Go straight to the borders where you sll the blood,’ I told Reaper who nodded at , following my instructions, all his anger about Valencia gone.
Even he knew that this was far more serious than anything at the mont.
As soon as I entered the pack, everyone started to make way for , the ladies taking their children inside to hide them from . Though they knew I would never harm my pack mbers, it didn’t an they wouldn’t beco victims in the aftermath of a fight broke when I am in my wolf form, and it was always better to be safe than sorry.
Reaper padded its way towards the Pack’s borders and it wasn’t long before I was finally t with the horrendous site.
To say I was shocked would be an understatent. The rogues, whoever they were, were truly monsters.
Though Zishan particularly told the basic of everything, it didn’t even cover the basic of what kind of horrifying thing it was.
Even the jaws of the little girl were hanging off her face. Her hands and legs were scratched to the point where her flesh was showing and...
Even thinking about everything that they did was taking such a toll on . I can’t imagine the pain this girl probably went through.
"What the hell is all this?" I asked as soon as I changed back into my human form because Reaper would’ve surely ripped a few hearts for their incompetence.
"Sir... Sir, I would like to apologize -"
Slap!
I slapped the person who ca to talk to , making him imdiately kneel on the floor.
"Apologize? Can a fucking apology fix this?" I asked, seething with anger and Shadow who was probably following imdiately showed up.
"Alpha, please calm down. Let deal with this. I will send you the report-" Shadow said, but one glare from was enough for him to imdiately shut his mouth.
"Who do you think should handle this case as the alpha of the pack?" I asked, and he imdiately looked down at his feet.
"I am sorry, sir," he said, and I imdiately got down to work.
~~~~~~
Tired with all the work, and sending the team to look for possible clues, I finally got so ti.
Reaper was too enraged at the mont and only one person could fix this.
After the fourth ring, she finally picked her call and my heart skipped a beat just at the thought of hearing her voice.
However, what I heard was...
"Hello? Who is this? Do you know this person? She got into an accident and was taken to the hospital urgently," The person said and my heart thumped.
This day couldn’t get any worse than before.
