Chapter 415: Chapter 415: Fighting Side by Side (Part 1)

“Chirp chirp chirp chirp.” A ssage has arrived!

The plump little bird stretched out its prideful claw, flapped its wings twice, and chirped at Xining to announce the ssage.

Xining pushed the door open and quickly made her way to the balcony.

She retrieved the new letter from under the little bird’s wing. Seeing the words on it made her heart suddenly tighten, and the cold gleam in her eyes deepened.

She handed the letter back to the little bird’s beak, and it instantly leaned in, devouring the paper in a few swift bites.

“Chirp chirp chirp.” I’m leaving now.

Watching it tilt its little head proudly, Xining rubbed its tiny body and said, “Fly fast, and be careful not to get caught. Or you might end up as roast bird.”

Just as it flapped its wings to leave, the little bird seed to understand her words and chirped at her several more tis.

But Xining’s mind had already been carried away by the ssage on the letter.

The little bird was a communication bird raised by Fu Junhang.

Xining’s phone had been modified by Haozi to fend off potential intrusions to a certain extent.

After Fu Junhang learned of Haozi’s connection to Shang Lvxing, he opted for the old-fashioned thod of sending critical information via communication bird to prevent leaks.

He also specifically chose a bird whose temperant resembled Lu Nuonuo’s — plump and feisty.

Twice now, it had brought Xining important ssages.

The previous letter read: [Xi Juan reported the Red Yan Family over twenty years ago. The Yan couple perished, their eldest son went to the orphanage, the second son is missing, and the rest were all imprisoned.]

Xining recalled the prominent elder who had once visited the Lu Family to discuss the “Artificial Uterus” bioproject with her.

Later, when the experint succeeded, her collaboration with Xi Juan officially began.

The person overseeing the signing of the contract back then was Secretary Cheng, Xi Juan’s closest confidant, fully responsible for pushing the project forward.

At the ti, Xining had thought that with the backing of Xi Juan’s imnse power, the “Artificial Uterus” bioproject could progress more smoothly, fulfilling the dreams of countless families yearning for children.

But this ti, the letter’s contents were even weightier.

[Yan Qianli (Shang Lvxing), Yan Qianyi (Haozi). Xi Juan is aware. The twins are in danger.]

Following this chilling information was a smiley face — clearly a playful touch added by Lu Nuonuo’s artistic hand.

There was also a note penned in unison by the twins: We miss Mommy.

So of the heaviness in her heart was dispelled by these closing words and the childish doodle from the three children.

Xining took a deep breath, sensing that the situation had grown increasingly entangled.

Xi Juan’s strength… he was a force akin to an ancient towering tree, not soone of her stature could hope to shake.

Looking at the people around her, aside from Shang Qing, whom she was unwilling to engage with, there was only Ji Muye — the grandfather she had just reconnected with, now commanding imnse influence and authority.

These two n were the only ones capable of contending with Xi Juan’s imposing power.

Power needs to be firmly grasped in one’s hands to hold any real value.

So… was Yan Qianyi Haozi’s true na?

She silently pondered over the aning behind the na, lanting how one wave of trouble was just settling when another inevitably rose.

Forget it… when soldiers co, use generals to block; when water cos, use earth to contain.

Things had already reached this point. Dealing with the imminent challenges was the top priority.

Having made up her mind, Xining turned, only to find Ji Muye standing just beyond the door, arms crossed, his dark, unblinking eyes fixed on her.

Seeing her move to enter, he proactively pulled open the sliding glass door to the balcony.

“It’s cold outside. If there’s sothing to discuss, let’s talk inside,” his deep voice sounded slightly hoarse, as though a cold was looming.

Xining nodded. “Thank you.”

Returning indoors, her gaze landed on Shang Lvxing, who was on the phone. Noticing her expression, Ji Muye’s eyes darkened visibly.

Shang Lvxing, sensing her stare, turned and paused, then asked, “What’s wrong?”

Xining: “Tell Haozi to be careful.”

His brows furrowed instantly. “What happened?”

She was about to reply when her ears twitched, catching the hurried sound of approaching footsteps in the hallway outside.

Ji Muye heard the commotion as well.

The two exchanged a glance and quickly motioned for Shang Lvxing and Cheng Cang to grab their weapons and find a place to lie low.

Xining also retrieved a miniature weapon Ji Muye had given her and thrust it into his hand.

In an urgent tone, she said, “You’re injured. Find soplace safe to hide.”

Ji Muye lowered his gaze to the small object in his palm. It was a self-defense tool he had given her, yet now she was offering it back to him.

Sothing softened in his eyes. “What about you?”

“I have my own plans. Now go hide!”

Xining gave him a firm shove, glaring at the other three n who hadn’t budged. In a commanding voice, she snapped, “Move it! If you dawdle, we’ll all die!”

Cheng Cang suggested, “I can call the Chu Family reinforcents. We might not lose to ng Lai and his n.”

The key was… their current enemies weren’t just ng Lai’s thugs. Hidden among them were venomous snakes lurking in the dark; the fewer people exposed, the higher their safety margin.

Xining’s gaze shifted toward the bathroom, where the young rman lay imrsed in salt water within the bathtub, his body draped over the edge as if deeply asleep. He bore no sign of the ferocity Lott had recorded in his experintal notes, appearing rather like an innocent, fragile child.

Outside, however, ng Lai was visibly agitated.

Xining also caught sight of the other three villains — Yilijite, Danrus, and Rexiva — each radiating a sinister aura.

“Quick! Find that man and finish him off. Toss his body into the sea to feed the fish!”

“Search every single room! He’s still on the Royal Cruise. If he’s alive, I want to see him. If he’s dead, bring his corpse!”

Cheng Cang, who had boarded the ship to protect Xining, stood his ground. “There’s no way I’ll let you face this on your own while I hide.”

Ji Muye and Shang Lvxing stayed put as well, evidently sharing Cheng Cang’s sentints.

Xining sighed in exasperation. “Who said I was going to face this alone? I plan to hide too.”

“When I told you to lie low, I didn’t an to run away.”

“…”

The trio fell simultaneously silent, realizing their mistaken assumption. Their self-righteousness suddenly felt misplaced.

Outside, doors to the rooms were being opened one by one.

It wouldn’t be long before their hideout was discovered.

“Little rman, rember to hide as well.”

Closing the bathroom door behind her with this parting instruction, Xining turned and found a secure hiding spot.

She extracted a well-prepared weapon from the concealed compartnt in her boots. Her gaze sharpened like an arrow, ready to strike.

After confirming her position was hidden well enough, the three n redirected their attention to the room’s entrance.

They stood poised to counter any danger the intruders might bring.

However, at the very mont a guard swiped his keycard to unlock the door, the previously slumbering young rman in the bathroom suddenly opened his vibrant blue eyes. Within them surged a tempestuous storm.
