Chapter 935: Chapter 935: A World for Two 3 Chapter 935: Chapter 935: A World for Two 3 Before setting off, Feng Qingxue prepared the finest Four Treasures of the Study for Wen Ruyu, including the set that Lu Jiang’s father had given her. As for the ink sticks and rice paper, she had separately prepared plenty, all salvaged from the waste station—since papers without words could be brought out openly and honorably.

Feng Qingxue kept these locked in a cabinet at ho, handing the key to Qingyun for Wen Ruyu to retrieve them whenever needed.

It was common knowledge that keeping things in the cowshed was unsafe.

Next, Feng Qingxue repeatedly implored Guan Cheng, Qingyun, and others to keep the two children within sight at all tis and not to let them near ponds or rivers, to feed them and add clothing on ti to prevent them from catching a chill during the spring backdraft, fussing over these matters right until she departed and even turning back to instruct Guan Cheng and Qingyun, who got up early to see them off.

No sooner had they left than Xibao woke up.

All this tyke could think about was the cream cake he hadn’t had in a long ti, and since the army service store didn’t carry such expensive items, he felt no attachnt to his departing parents; after all, he had been playing around with his older brothers these past days.

Put simply, children lack a sense of ti and think their parents will return soon after they leave.

But Fubao was different; the first thing she did upon opening her eyes was to look for her parents, and upon not finding them, she would cry, crying her heart out.

Guan Cheng and Qingyun were frantically trying to comfort her, while Xibao would stick his finger in his mouth and pull faces to amuse her, and Lu Tianzhi and Guan Yu weaved a new willow wreath for her, adorned with wildflowers, yet none of this could ease her sadness from not seeing her parents.

“Mommy, mommy, I want my mommy!” Fubao cried with her eyes closed, gasping for air between sobs.

The cries reached the cowshed, causing Lu Jiang’s father to stand up abruptly and hand a bucket to Uncle Xu, “I’m going to check on Fubao; this child must cry a little in the morning if she doesn’t see her parents when she wakes up.”

This had been the norm for the last few days, and they had grown accustod to it.

But no matter how accustod they were, it still hurt their hearts—such a clean, fair, and tender little darling, the treasure of everyone’s hearts.

When Lu Jiang’s father took charge, he was as good as two people.

With just a few words, the old man cheered up Fubao, who wore a small wreath filled with wildflowers, and sweetly said with her willow basket in tow, “Grandpa, I’ll help you with work, I’m very capable!”

Lu Jiang’s father led his little granddaughter away.

After the family had eaten, Wang Jiao sauntered over and imdiately asked Qingyun, “Where’s your sister? Didn’t you say she ca back?”

Feng Qingxue sent a variety of items to Wang Jiao every year; Wang Jiao unreservedly accepted the food and left the other items such as fabrics for Zhang Yuejin to distribute as favors, resulting in Zhang Yuejin acquiring a thirty-square-ter apartnt last year. Wang Jiao moved directly into the city, but she still had to co back to work during the busy farming season.

Zhang Yuejin had an urban household registration, unlike her; she lived off work points, and if she didn’t work, her father would cut off her food supply.

Feng Qingxue had been back for quite so ti, and Wang Jiao had long heard this good news. However, her youngest son Eggy suddenly fell ill, and she and Zhang Yuejin rushed between hospitals until the child recovered before she returned to her hotown. The first thing she did was to look for Feng Qingxue.

Upon hearing that she and Lu Jiang had gone on a long trip, Wang Jiao’s eyes bulged, “Why didn’t she wait for to co back?”

Qingyun pressed her lips in a smile, went inside to fetch a bundle, and stuffed it into Wang Jiao’s hands, “Although Sister isn’t ho, the things are here! I heard you weren’t ho before and didn’t send them to you; they’ve been prepared a long ti ago.”

Wang Jiao’s face imdiately lit up with a smile, saying to Qingyun, “When your sister travels, she’s bound to bring back so tasty treats, right?”

Qingyun looked speechlessly at her face, still fair and beautiful from a carefree life.
