Empire City Police Departnt——

Yu Fengji looked at Huo Linong, who was dressed in a simple, clean, collared Zhongshan suit, and slightly raised his head. His face remained unchanged, but the bad feeling in his heart grew stronger.

"Uncle Huo." He hesitated for a mont on how to greet him, since Huo Beijiang had a high status in the compound, higher than most people. Huo Linong’s status was certainly even higher, so according to what Huo Kewei would call him, he couldn’t call him uncle.

But since the Yu Family and the Huo Family weren’t related, it would be more appropriate to address him according to long-standing family ties.

"I want to see Leng Peixi." Huo Linong’s genteel expression hardened a bit when he ntioned Leng Peixi, even his tone carried the serious and earnest deanor of an intellectual.

"It’s been arranged, please follow ."

"Thank you! You’ve worked hard."

"It’s nothing, this is my duty."

Huo Linong looked at Yu Fengji with admiration, liking him more and more. Young, outstanding, with strong work capabilities, and his looks were impeccable. He handled tasks steadily and never caused trouble. He was simply the model of a good son. Why couldn’t Bei Jiang learn from Yu Fengji?

Look at him, doesn’t the Old Yu Family know how lucky they are?

To produce such a talent like Yu Fengji.

Yu Fengji led Huo Linong to the interrogation room, then left upon bringing him there, without getting involved. He was well aware that yesterday’s incident with Jiang Nanfei had certainly offended the Huo Family, and though he had a good relationship with Huo Beijiang, he still didn’t want to offend the Huo Family.

In Imperial City, no one wants to offend the Huo Family.

"I’ve arrived." Huo Linong sat down in the chair with a gentle expression, looking at the woman across from him whom he had loved deeply in his youth and was still the only woman he had ever truly loved. A sour feeling unexpectedly welled up in him when he thought of his choices back then and how they had co to this point today.

How did even Bei Jiang co to this point with her!

Back then, it was still his mistake.

With a complex feeling of guilt, Huo Linong took the initiative to ask, "How are you now?"

"Pretty good." Leng Peixi was in a good mood today, and upon seeing Huo Linong, she didn’t show any particular emotional change, even managing a smile, "Anyway, better than you."

Huo Linong pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose, clearing his throat before directly asking, "What did you say to Jiang Nanfei yesterday?"

"Didn’t say anything!" From the mont Huo Linong entered, Leng Peixi knew what his purpose was, but she absolutely wouldn’t reveal it. Even if they suspected, she absolutely wouldn’t admit.

If she really gave them a chance to resolve their issues, wouldn’t her whole plan be defeated?

She absolutely wouldn’t allow it.

Since she was close to dying, she wouldn’t allow others to have it easy either.

"You aren’t going to either." Leng Peixi glared at Huo Linong with a sinister look, suddenly saying sothing bewildering.

"What do you an?"

"Nothing!" Leng Peixi’s greedy gaze road over Huo Linong’s face and body, as if imprinting his appearance deeply in her mind. But when her gaze t Huo Linong’s calm and rational eyes, her expression suddenly changed dramatically, and she fell into a rage.

Her eyes, looking at Huo Linong, seed to be poisoned, her pupils blood-red, filled with obsession, madness, hatred, distortion, struggle...

"I really should have killed you earlier." Leng Peixi said through gritted teeth, word by word, "If you were dead, none of this would exist, and Bei Jiang and I wouldn’t have ended up like this. This is all your fault, all because of you."

"Huo Linong, I want you to rember, it was you who ruined , Leng Peixi. And Jiang Nanfei will ultimately be ruined by Huo Beijiang; neither of you father and son are good people."

Huo Linong sighed, dejectedly rose, and looked at Leng Peixi with an apologetic and silent stare.
