Chapter 1539: Chapter 1558: Lock Up
The two special forces soldiers holding onto Ding Jiaqi looked thoroughly embarrassed, scratching their heads, unsure of what to say. If they had their way, they’d prefer knocking her unconscious right away. At least that would spare her the chance to ruin their boss’s reputation any further.
Luckily, this was Kannaya. If it were back ho, wouldn’t the boss’s reputation be in tatters?
“Huo Bei…”
“Enough!” An ominous yet commanding voice, rich with an oppressive authority, rang out from the opened doorway. Huo Beijiang’s tall and imposing figure appeared at the entrance, his expression unreadable as he strode in swiftly.
Xing Yu glanced at Huo Beijiang, lifting his hand minimally in respect, a cordial acknowledgnt.
Everyone else watched Huo Beijiang nervously. Even the two special forces soldiers dragging Ding Jiaqi out had stopped halfway, frozen in awkward silence, not knowing what to do.
Lu Jin cursed silently in his heart. Damn it!
He had woken the boss up. Amitabha, let’s hope it didn’t wake the sister-in-law too. Otherwise… Otherwise, he’d be utterly dood.
Ding Jiaqi, on the other hand, lit up as though she’d spotted her savior. Her eyes glead, touched to the brink of tears, and she exclaid excitedly, “Huo Beijiang, thank goodness! You finally ca out! I knew you couldn’t bear to never see again.”
Everyone around stared at Ding Jiaqi, their gazes filled with disbelief.
Tsk, tsk, tsk… Just where does her confidence co from? To say sothing so utterly shaless! They couldn’t see even the faintest hint that their boss couldn’t bear to lose her.
Maintaining an impassive face, Huo Beijiang approached Ding Jiaqi, bent slightly forward, leaned closer, and allowed his thin lips to curve into a cold smirk. In a low voice, he asked, “You really don’t want to return to the country?”
“Mmm, mmm, mmm, I don’t want to go back! I won’t go back! I want to stay here!” She absolutely refused to go back! She wanted to stay near Huo Beijiang, using her courage, kindness, and beauty to win his heart.
To make him love her to the point of utter devotion.
“I’ll ask again: you don’t want to return ho? Even if staying ans death!” Huo Beijiang’s icy gaze bore an unsettling chill, and anyone with half a brain wouldn’t doubt for a second the seriousness of his statent about death.
“I won’t go back! Please, don’t make go back! I’m not afraid to die!” Ding Jiaqi shook her head frantically, terrified she’d be sent away.
“Hmm!” Huo Beijiang responded noncommittally with a faint nod and stood up straight. He turned to Lu Jin and instructed, “Little Deer, lock her up for .”
“What?” The excitent on Ding Jiaqi’s face froze instantly, morphing into utter disbelief. She appeared entirely unprepared for Huo Beijiang’s decision to imprison her. “Impossible, no, this isn’t real.”
“Yes.” Lu Jin had tried countless tis before to warn Ding Jiaqi, but it was all in vain. Not only did she ignore his advice, but her antics often landed him with the ss of cleaning up after her troubles.
Now, forget about trying to convince the boss—he himself could no longer tolerate her.
“Take her back to wherever she was detained before. Lock her up there again.” Huo Beijiang’s tone was casual, as though discussing an ordinary matter.
However, a flicker of surprise passed through Lu Jin’s eyes. That kind of place wasn’t just any detention facility. Those captured under Kaka’s direct orders as hostages typically faced only one fate—death. Whether that death ca swiftly upon being locked up, or after prolonged torture, no one cared.
The end was always grim, and if the detainee happened to be a young and beautiful woman, early death might be preferable to enduring prolonged agony.
A quick death would be a rciful release.
The last ti so many people were released so smoothly was entirely due to Huo Beijiang, the second-in-command himself, personally intervening, coupled with Kaka’s advanced notification. Anyone assuming it was an easily escapable place would be gravely mistaken.
