During this period...
The side hall of Queen dusa's bedchamber had essentially beco a forbidden zone. Aside from Queen dusa herself, Die, Elder Baru, Yue Nu, and a few of her most trusted guards, no one else was permitted to enter.
Naturally, this situation stirred great curiosity among the serpentfolk of the royal city. Those who were more inford had begun to understand just how much importance Her Majesty—and even Princess Die—placed on Chen Mo.
As a result, the mindset of the people was quietly beginning to change.
At this mont, in the side hall of Queen dusa's palace...
A woman in a crimson dress stood with her hands behind her back. Her figure was breathtaking—curvaceous to the point of being heart-stopping. The tight-fitting dress did little to conceal her devilishly seductive curves.
She had a stunningly bewitching face that could steal the breath from one's lungs. Her long, narrow phoenix eyes were fixed intently on the unconscious young man in white robes lying on the bed.
Watching her younger sister hold Chen Mo's hand and softly reminisce about their past, Queen dusa's jade-like hand involuntarily clenched. A strange sense of irritation welled up in her heart.
Her slender brows furrowed ever so slightly, exuding a natural regal authority. The mix of allure and majesty caused the charm she naturally carried to reach its peak in an instant.
She glanced out the window at the darkening sky and spoke in a cool, distant voice.
"Little sister, it's getting late. Ti to go."
Still holding Chen Mo's hand, Die turned to her sister and said softly, "Big sister, I want to stay tonight to take care of him!"
"No," Queen dusa refused sternly, then added,
"Elder Baru said this human needs peace and rest to wake up. If you stay here tonight, you might disturb him and delay his recovery."
"Alright then..."
Die reluctantly agreed, finding her sister's words reasonable. She leaned over to Chen Mo and said gently, "I'll co see you again tomorrow."
With that, she left the side hall with her sister.
Once the door closed, silence returned to the room.
Night deepened.
The candles in the corridor had been blown out by the wind, and Yue Nu hurried to relight them.
Just then, the door to the side hall creaked open again, and a figure stepped inside.
She approached the bedside.
The chamber was bathed in the warm glow of candlelight. The woman's stunningly enchanting face looked especially soft in the dim light, though a faint crease between her brows betrayed her unease.
She sat down on a nearby stool, grasped Chen Mo's hand, and gently pressed it against her cheek. Her voice was low and trembling.
"It's been almost two months... Didn't you say you were going to pursue ? You said if you failed to win over in three months, you'd never bring it up again."
Queen dusa's jade hand gripped tighter. A complex expression flickered across her phoenix-like eyes, full of seduction and sorrow. Then, her cheeks flushed slightly as she murmured:
"I'll agree... If you wake up, I'll accept your pursuit. But... you can't let my sister know."
After speaking, Queen dusa noticed that Chen Mo was still unconscious. Taking a deep breath, she leaned down... and gently pressed her lips to his.
She pulled away quickly, her cheeks suddenly burning.
She muttered, "Didn't you love taking advantage of ? If you wake up... I'll let you do it."
Still no reaction.
"Sigh..."
Queen dusa stared at Chen Mo's face and let out a long sigh. A trace of sorrow appeared in her eyes as she slowly reached out and caressed his cheek.
"Don't worry," she whispered. "Once I've recovered, I'll personally go to the Black-Corner Region. I won't spare a single one of those who hurt you."
The night was silent.
The moon was hidden behind thick clouds.
Ti slipped past midnight.
In the side hall...
The white-robed figure on the bed, still as stone for so long, suddenly twitched—his fingers moved ever so slightly.
The next mont, his eyelashes trembled faintly. Then, his eyelids slowly opened, revealing a pair of eyes like starry skies.
Chen Mo shifted slightly, and in that instant, the surface of his skin began to ripple. Deep within his body, his bones creaked and shifted, making faint chanical sounds, as though a complex machine had been set in motion.
"Phew..."
Feeling the comfortable flow of energy spreading through his body, Chen Mo was just about to move—only to discover a soft, jade-like arm hugging his own. Another rested gently atop his stomach.
Turning his head slightly, he was greeted by the sight of Queen dusa's devastatingly beautiful, seductive face.
She was curled up beside him on the inside of the bed, still holding his arm. Her long lashes trembled slightly, but her calm breathing indicated she was sound asleep.
Gulp...
Chen Mo swallowed hard.
Seriously? I just woke up and it's already this intense?
His eyes drifted downward, landing on her smooth, fair, impossibly long legs.
It seed that, with the help of the Ancient Undying Dragon-Serpent bloodline, Queen dusa had skipped the small snake stage of the Seven-Colored Heaven Swallowing Python... and gone straight into her human form.
