Chapter 51: A Reason To Leave {2}

OWEN

~

I could imagine how Emma feels right now, taking the truth all at once, the look on her pretty face, those big green eyes of her wide and shocked, and more about what happened out there. I subconsciously slamd my fist on the wall but not too much. I was boiling within , I was angry that such a thing happened to her. If only I had persuaded her to stay with

during the trip but those parts were safe to explore so I didn’t put more thought into it when she still insisted on staying with that beast.

Those damn vamps! I couldn’t believe they could get in? We conjured a barrier to confuse them or keep away, that’s how we have stayed in this town for years without any of them storming in ever since the werelion’s drove them out by their presence, so how co was she able to encounter one, Fuck! A vampire, I can imagine how scared she must have been, the state she was in, if only I was there, she wouldn’t have gone through such, I wouldn’t have let her off my sight, that damn Beast Dace, I swear if I saw him.

"Don’t do anything crazy" Vanessa’s words broke off the turmoil within my head. She knew exactly what I was thinking. I wasn’t hiding it. "Don’t get yourself killed, the Devereaux’s aren’t soone you can match"

"I can curse him"

She huffed. "And when has that ever worked? They are built like a damn machine and do not forget we have an alliance, which we will honor"

"But Dace isn’t exactly honoring that, he making several contacts with Emma"

"And you think I don’t know how that scares ?"

I looked away sighing as I tried to calm myself, but I couldn’t, I don’t know why but anyti I saw her with that beast I couldn’t help it as my blood boils. "I know," I said in a low tone.

"That is why she should leave this town, an encounter with a vampire, and then what? I can’t keep her away from it all, I should not have let her co" she chants the last words shaking her head, I knew Vanessa was as tensed as I was. Vanessa was a woman with a big heart, she wasn’t just a family friend to my family but she was also my ntor ever since I was little, it was because of her I was within this level, I could still picture how happy she was when she told

her niece was coming, she was all noisy at her stall that almost everyone in the town took a whiff of it and then I t Emma, petite and beautiful the day she walked into class, I knew instantly that she was the one, she took Vanessa’s type of hair and eyes.

I couldn’t take my eyes off her the mont I laid my eyes on her, she was there, nothing to be eye-catching by the others but I just couldn’t look away, she was just too alluring and it made my magic within

dance in a rhythm I wasn’t familiar with when she took a seat just at my front at that proximity, my inside swelled and I felt my magic dance just at my fingertips, I have always found a way to keep it in check because of how I was taught to but that very mont, it was like my magic was being magnetized towards her.

When she pouts about not seeing her pen, I found myself giving her one even though I had just one on .

Vanessa didn’t tell

anything but I felt the need to befriend her, even as she grew suspicious that I was keeping an eye on her because of Vanessa but it was the complete opposite.

Vanessa took a seat sighing deeply. "If only she leaves then..." I spoke.

"Will she?"

"She has to" her worried eyes t mine. "This..." she motioned with her hand. "...Is dangerous"

I nodded in understanding, although it hurts within

that she has to leave but I knew this was what was best for her, and I want nothing more than that.

"Poor Emma... she was so so curious"

"Very"

She chuckled. "Got that from " she mused.

"Now she knows all"

"Yes," she gulped. "I never wanted this... just how was that vamp"

"I still don’t get it myself," I said with a stern look. I was pondering deeply about it, or did Emma wander too far out of the barrier? But that wasn’t possible, the barrier was flexible.

"I will call for a eting about this," Vanessa said. I knew the eting she ant, there haven’t exactly been one for so ti now, there was no need to but I had a feeling more was to co.

"The Devereaux should co, we need to remind them that no contact with the humans"

"They know that and they honor it without question because they dislike humans, it’s all about them, but I do not get why Dace is..." she sighed. "I need water" she was up on her feet, holding her head. I knew how much it took for her to tell Emma the truth. Vanessa knew keeping it in the dark was her way of protecting her niece, well now the cats outta the bag.

I rubbed the back of my neck with my hand, I felt the need to go to Emma. I didn’t want her alone in this, I know I know, she said she wanted to be alone but here I was already at the door.

"Screw this" I murmured under my breath and clicked the door open, gently shutting it behind , eting with her sleeping form, I held in a chuckle when I noticed she had her glasses on while sleeping, that was gonna leave a mark, and the position she slept wasn’t exactly comfortable, so I sort to help her with it while taking the food stance with jell-os on it, yuck! I hated this a lot, too bad this will be her food.

"No" at her voice my eyes snapped to her sleeping form, she’s freakishly sweating. "Emma?"

"No" she groaned, her head moving sideways, was she having a bad dream?

"Emma"

"No!" she half yelled.

This was getting out of hand. I have to wake her up but the mont I touched her body, a cold chill ran through , she was cold as ice!
